Once again I got a sub sandwich from ShopRite of Wallingford. And it was served with unacceptable brown wilted shredded lettuce. I understand if it was a mistake that was made one time. But this is over and over again. I have worked in food service for more than 40 years and what I find as far as the quality of this lettuce and the tomatoes on the sub is absolutely unacceptable and inedible. I would suggest not getting subs or sandwiches here unless they are handmade and you can inspect the ingredients. I'm so angry I'm besides myself right now. I rightfully should be given a new sub made to my specifications with ingredients that I inspect before they are used. Or double my money back. Shame on you, ShopRite of Wallingford. read more

Rosa I have to say is the least customer service fluent. She has no customer awareness, huge attitude and acted like everything was an inconvenience. She was honestly the most unhelpful human I've experienced in costumer service. I only gave this two starts because it isn't the drivers fault. The woman in customer service was the definition of "being inconvenienced". I am missing 3/9 bags I ordered along with a water jug and two 12 packs of soda. I was left on hold for 17 minutes and 27 seconds while she did who knows what. Puts me on hold, while pressing the hold button goes "ughhhhhhh!" Returned to the line and said "you still there?" Yes, "I'll call you when it comes" I said when what comes? Will it be today? Uhhh yeah today we'll call you. Get a call back after listing the 18 items missing and they need me to repeat, I gladly repeat, driver comes and I get THE SAME ITEMS ALREADY DELIVERED!!! I order from here WEEKLY for the last 26 weeks, never experienced this woman before. After reading reviews it seems the more you order and are loyal, the worse of the treatment you get. read more

This was my go-to market for many years. It's been going downhill steadily for a while. Today was extremely disappointing. I stopped in for 2 things, watermelon and diet soda (ginger ale & Pepsi One). All items were on sale with additional clip less coupons. Watermelon, check. Diet ginger ale on sale in 20oz bottles? Forget about it. Not one bottle. Pepsi One in 20oz bottles on sale? Not a single bottle. Rain check you say? Not like I didn't try. No one working the counter. I stood there for 5 minutes. They have signs up about carts being sanitized. The carts are not being sanitized. At least not the ones people had available to them in the parking lot. I waited to get one just inside the entrance but they were all stuck together and I couldn't pull them apart. Great sale prices on many things I use but not sure I can deal with this place anymore. I have been getting my groceries for almost 2 years. Sometimes, the produce selections are right on other times not very fresh. Supply has been a problem but it's understandable. Now it seems that deliveries cannot be made next day. Sometimes it 2-3 days after the order is placed. The orders placed on Saturdays should have the sale prices for the week ending that day, but, because the orders are not processed on Saturday, we end up losing out on sale prices. Also, there is no way to enter a coupon, that we are given in with the receipt. Not sure why they bother to put them in. I am obviously not going to the store. More savings lost. read more

Of all the ShopRites in south central Connecticut, the Wallingford store has absolutely the worst deli. They are excruciatingly slow, close early, only have one person wait on all the customers there even if two or three people are behind the counter and skip people's numbers after they have been waiting 15-20 minutes. read more

Family owned and very clean ! This is the only store I frequent and the employees are very friendly and always willing to help. They have a clean deli section and roasted chickens spinning away on the spigot. Fresh salad and soup bars and take-away meals already prepared for you. The fruit is mostly from local farmers and the veggies. I absolutely love the value and prices in this store especially their 4-day only deals and the digital coupons you can download on your ShopRite app on you phone every Sunday they are new. The bakery has a fabulous selection and I have been asking them to design all my son's birthday cakes for the last 7 years. They make the best cakes and taste great ! read more

The delivery service from this store is terrible. On one day they delivered the wrong order, then came back to deliver the correct order, but left it in the sun, ruining the food in 90° heat. The store manager is a foul, condescending lout who hung up on my wife, later denying it. Stay away. read more

The register I happened to choose was manned by 2 obviously very new employees -- one of which had a very bad attitude when he found he couldn't handle part of my order (I had reinchecks and some coupons). My and family and I just moved to Meriden. We lived in the South Georgia and we were used to Publix, which we love very much. This store is simmilar to Publix. I believe they have some of the best produce, dedicated produce staff who are knowledgeable, will help with special requests and know and share when there is a great deal on a certain item. I normally go to Stop & Shop and everybody always tells me that ShopRite is sooooo much better and cheaper, so today I decided to order my groceries for pickup from ShopRite. To start, I compared the prices of my most frequently purchased items from Stop & Shop to what ShopRite has to offer (not including coupons or sales). Many items from ShopRite were cheaper by $1, some items were the same, and some were actually cheaper at Stop & Shop. ShopRite also did not have some of the items I usually buy and does not have as much of a selection of organic produce as Stop & Shop or do gas rewards that I'm aware of... but I still decided it give it a try. As I was putting my groceries away I noticed that one of the packages of bacon was opened, so I called ShopRite and they told me I needed to bring the open bacon back to them if I wanted a refund or exchange. That is horrible customer service!! It's not MY fault that a ShopRite employee put an open package of bacon into my order but now I have to drive all the way back to the store just to get what I paid for?! Stop & Shop's online pickup is not perfect. Occasionally they make mistakes on my order and when I call about it they just refund the item (although I would be more than happy paying for what I've received, they refund it completely because it was THEIR mistake). Needless to say, this was my first and last time shopping at ShopRite and the next time somebody tells me how much cheaper/better it is or how expensive Stop & Shop is I can confidently stand by my choice and know that I'm not missing out on saving tons of money and getting much better customer service. read more

I'm kind of in love with Shop Rite and do almost all of my grocery shopping here. I scour the Sunday flyer for deals, and there are great deals every week. Prices are almost always lower than other grocery stores, and I can always find everything I need. I've found the produce and meats to be very fresh. The store brand items at the deli are quality. The bakery has a ton of great things for very low prices. When I feel the need to treat myself, I head straight for the wonderful bakery display case in the back of the store that carries cannolis, sfogliatelle, fruit tarts, and delicious cakes. I sometimes stop in just to grab sandwiches for a cheap lunch because large grinders are $4-6, and smaller sandwiches are around $2 - you can't beat that, and they're pretty good. The staff is also very friendly and have been helpful on a number of different occasions for me. The store can get busy at times, but I try to avoid the rush hours and shop later at night after work or school when I can. If I can't avoid it, as long as I know what I'm getting, I can usually get out pretty quickly. read more

Been there a few times. Staff is friendly and everything was somewhat easy to find. Organic section is non-existent. There is one freezer with Gluten Free/Sugar free stuff for celiacs and people with diabetes, although aside from SS most places have just as limited of a selection. Got a cake from their bakery and it came out fine. Also picked up a few essentials and they were standard market price. Parking lot is enormous sharing a spot with Petco and carts and everything else was easily out of the way instead of lying all over the place blocking spots as they would be at my local Shop Rite. This new location just seems soooo much brighter and inviting, compared to the S. Broad St location. Every thing looks better maintained and appealing the the general consumer. The only thing I don't like about this location is they only have one entrance! They should make two entrances just for better accessibility during the nasty blizzards. But, something that has been a hit with our family since their grand opening are their fresh fruit tarts. I have been shopping at shop rite grocery stores for years, mainly the Milford, Orange and East Haven locations. When I moved to Wallingford area I searched out this shoprite. From the moment I walked in I knew it couldn't compare to my other locations. The employees are rude and unfriendly. I purchased a leg of lamb for Easter and unknowingly my daughter did too. I truly not expecting a hassle with receipt in hand went to bring it back. First disappointment was customer service stating no returns and when I questioned where it stated this policy was shown the fine print on a clip board. Second disappointment was when the 20 something mightier than thou manager approached me saying we don't accept returns on meat have a nice day. This girl was arrogant and a awful representation of a manager. I am 60 years old and do not like the way this was handled. I will NEVER step foot into this shoprite again. As Stew Leonard states rule #1 the customer is always right and rule #2 the customer is always right ! I had ordered a complete cooked turkey dinner for my husband's mother and brother, both disabled and unable to cook for Thanksgiving. All the side dishes were delicious but no turkey was delivered for Thanksgiving. The third time I called, I did get a third apology, but I was told they made it right by delivering a turkey breast on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I love the fact that they play oldies music in there when you're shopping. My one negative is that I think their produce section can be stocked better. I like the store. The people working there are always pleasant, and the deli prices are second to none. Steve in the deli always remembers the customers, and says hello. The music is always fun, and I often hear people singing to it while they shop. My 1 star rating is because the produce has been getting worse and worse. This past Saturday, I left the store without any produce at all. I stopped up the street and bought it there because the quality at Shoprite was so bad. Almost every cucumber was shriveled up on the ends, and starting to rot. Yellow squash was also disgusting. The fresh cut herbs were slimy and nasty. I gave up because everything I needed was poor quality, other than the pineapple I did purchase. The produce has AWAYS been much better up the street, but I have been shopping at Shoprite since it was on the town line, and I have never seen the produce as bad as it was this past Saturday. I might also add, I have always passed on the fish counter at Shoprite because I am a fisherman, and can tell the difference between clean fresh fish, with a bright color, and brown fish that has been sitting out in the open air too long. I was excited a few years back when they did the seafood counter over. It looked excellent, and I even made a comment to the clerk at the counter. Sadly, with-in a month, the old ways were showing again, and the brown, old looking fish was back. I really like this store for everything except seafood and produce. This is the market I use most often cuz of prices, coupons & location. Great sales, esp "can can" weeks. Pasta $.59/box & store brand (good quality) canned vegs $.39/can. Onlydept won't use is Seafood cuz always smell fish few aisles over. Not a good sign! Prefer competitor's value pack meats but meat counter accommodating for special requests. Well, it's not the best supermarket, but they do have low prices. Stuff we like occasionally gets discontinued. Some management seems to care, but never follows up on requests. Produce really depends on the day, sometimes it's pretty gross, and other times, you can find what you need and it's alright. The only reason we keep coming back is the low prices. read more

Wow what an awkward experience... I will not be back. Let me start by saying I used to enjoy my experience at this grocery store. I have a large family and typically spend $3-$400 a week here. I went Sunday morning and couldn't believe how uncomfortable a worker made us feel. I wish I got her name. As we were doing the self check out she was literally staring at us to the point I made a comment to her how uncomfortable she was making us and if she could please stop. To which we replied " this is max if 20 item lane" (we had 23 items) as we ran in quick for a few things we forget from the day before. We apologized and said we didn't see the sign, as she continued to stare at us as though we were criminals. Again I asked her to please stop to which refused. We will NOT be back to this store as we are willing to actually spend more money on the same items someplace else due to this woman awkward behavior. read more

I tend to rotate between Shop Rite and Stop and Shop. I prefer Shop Rite but they can be even more expensive then Stop and Shop with some things. They do have really great deals sometimes. Their store made mozzarella is really outstanding. Their deli ( at least for sliced chicken without a doubt) is 100% better tasting then Stop and Shop. One of the workers even tried to get the store to re-order some french green beans I like but when i came back they where never on the shelf. Nice and open fresh food department. read more

Very friendly, courteous, helpful staff throughout the store...a reflection of the Drust Family! The new location, besides being more convenient for me, has allowed for greater product variety. Good value pricing and specials abound. Like the expanded natural foods selection. The store is almost always busy. Glad the move has been successful! A couple of comments: The property owners have tried to maintain as many parking spaces as possible, but the piles of snow have blocked the ends of some aisles on the North end of the lot and also the perimeter of the lot, making it very difficult to get around. Have had to leave and shop elsewhere b/c no parking. Did not like the congestion in the store during the holidays. No surprise that there were be lots of people and lots of filled shopping carts. However, trying to navigate around the additional marketing displays at the ends of every aisle was a nightmare! Wonder how much revenue these displays actually produced..... The mountains of cans during the Can-Can Sale right inside the entrance was like walking into a wall! People/product congestion made getting to/ around the produce department and foods-to-go buffet pretty difficult. More is not always better! read more
