This review is only based on the GF (Gluten Free) section. With that being said, I gotta give them a firm FOUR AND A HALF Stars. They have a lot of frozen GF products as well as half an aisle of dry GF products and a organic section. They need to give better prices but regardless, the selection is good. Their "in-store" baked goods are all from Dearborn Farms and it is crap! Their deli prices for sandwiches more than doubled. and all of their other prices are way higher than before with the old owners. They are taking advantage of the seniors from Greenbriar who moved down here from up north and are used to higher prices. at the expense of the local population. Store is terrible and the bald manager could care less. I asked for help and he blew me off. I had orders a cake three days prior, when I got there at the designated time it wasnt made. I asked for help and he did not a thing. After an hour of waiting and all the stuff in my cart defrosting I was told by the lady who makes cakes I should never use their online service to order cakes. She said it sucked. I go there because the prices are a little better than acme and the store is clean, and still the staff is grumpy, a Sunday morning 10am, 4 registers open, 3-4 carts per checkout, blocking the front pass way, there were 3 "front end" managers standing around a podium , 1 name tag Anthony, another women with neon maroon hair and a 3rd with no id visible, i asked as I stood in line why there werent more lanes open and the reply was we had people call out, i asked why cant one of them open a register til it clears up and was rudely told, we are managers. WOW.. great customer service, nothing has changed, it gets worse weekly. The meat selection is scarce, many empty shelves and if you ask a meat employee a question the atttude is horrible. While the store isn't bad, the employees are awful. There's an announcement in the store that employees will help you bag and that's ridiculous!! No one ever asks or volunteers. The young men working there are obviously not trained well. Not one employee was helping anyone bag their groceries. Produce and bakery items are good though. Shoprite was the best supermarket in NJ at one time but now every other store is kicking their ass. I got a pound of ground beef from their butcher for $6.00 / lb this past weekend. It looked good pink and juicy on the outside but upon unwrapping it was all grey and old. Obviously, they repackaged old product under new. The problem is how old is the old stuff. Was this old meat past the date which it can be legally sold? This practice is so unethical that I think I need to notify the department of health and the department of consumer affairs. Do yourselves a favor and by preground beef in the solid colored sealed packages so the scumbags in the store don't get a chance to load it up with old product. Shoprite of Waretown is disgusting. Waretown ShopRite! Unfortunately, the Waretown ShopRite has only gotten WORSE! Specifically, the "deli/cold cuts" department! There are one or two decent employees but as a whole, they are horrible! Very slow, not friendly and sloppy!! It seems people get trained and they are gone, off to another store? What remains are the worst of the worst. I've been to ShopRite in Lacy and Stafford and one would think you are in another world! The store is fine. However, some of the people that work there have bad attitudes. One woman in the deli and one woman cashier.

The HR older woman with curly black hair is on a power trip. Treats workers unfairly and is extremely rude/condesending. I do have one question. How do you go from shouting At me "that's a write up!" To then deciding to fire me not even five minutes later? not even a simple warning? For such a small thing might I add a real power trip you're on. Thank you honestly. Impuse items everywhere are factory meals not made in store Store brand Creamer has been dicontinued. They are constantly moving items to different locations. No beard masks in the deli. The only good thing here is Sushi. I shop at Aldi and Lidl now. The new owners have turned this once beautiful store into a greedy price gouging mess. Again, constant turnover of employees. The worst part of this Shop Rite are the cashiers. I've never had a good experience at the register. Nobody knows what they are doing. I get over charged, charged for things I didn't get. The thing that drives me the most nuts is when I get 20 cans of the same cat food and they're not allowed to do x20. They have to do it individual. When I get 60 cans of only 3 flavors it's annoying. They don't stop the belt when your stuff starts piling up or flying off the end. They don't help bag and the 1 time they did she put my produce in with my raw chicken. I avoid this store now unless necessary for things I can't get at another store. I have had a positive experience when I asked the girl in the meat dept for something from the back and 1 home shopper who pointed me in the right direction for something. I placed an order, to be delivered, on the Shop Rite app. I thought it was going to be delivered by Shop Rite. Instead it was delivered by Shipt. I checked my receipt and saw that I was charged $9.95 for delivery. I belong to Shipt and questioned the customer service person why was I charged when they didn't deliver it. She said they still had to pay Shipt. I proceeded to ask her why wasn't I told because I would have picked up the groceries myself. I feel like I paid twice for the same delivery. I called Shipt and asked could they have picked up my groceries and brought them to me. This would have avoided the delivery fee. The lady said yes and was curious if they had this option on their app. I told her no. In this day and age when grocery prices are out of control Shop Rite found it necessary to rip off a senior couple. SHAME ON YOU. read more

Yet another expired product on their shelves, this time a package of hotdogs that expired on Sep 29th, today is Oct 10th. I did grocery delivery so that's two strikes since the grocery picker also isn't checking expiration dates. I've made a point to report expired products to the manager each time, and still no improvement. Disgusted. read more

Update: deli meat order kisok is gone, online deli order has numerous items that are not even available and even the deli clerk stated they are always getting yelled at by customers and managment wont change it. This store used to be so beautiful cleaned and stocked. Saker inquired it recently and it is a mess. How could a beautiful store take such a deep dive so quickly? Shelves are empty but boxes and boxes that need to be unpacked are stilling on the top shelves. It looks horrible! The store looks dirty and barely any cashiers. I had to wait in one long line that stretched through the entire store for my chance to check out with only two cashiers working. I shop in Waretown NJ. I am confused as to the hours of operation. I went into the store tonight, Friday 10/21 at 7:15 PM. The hours are open until 10:00 PM. I was not allowed to order anything from the sea food department. Not if I wanted it steamed. They could not dirty the steamer since they already cleaned up. Girls at self checkout horrible tonight, 10/18/22 9pm. Forgot my debit card and asked young girl if i can leave cart here while i go get my debit card. She did not acknowledge me, I asked a few times, and said, ok, I'll be right back. I come back, cart gone! I asked where it was and she and another girl played stupid knowing the items were returned.... using excuses, "I was on break, I don't know" "Oh we're closing so put it back, etc. etc" The girls are clearly not a good candidate to work with people. She had a smug grin on the entire time and I ended up telling her it was the worse customer service ever!!! To her it was almost like a joke! and when i left the second time with my groceries, I told her terrible customer service --- she literally shooed me out of the store!!! I got shooed out of Shoprite by a disrespectful teen! UNREAL. The manager said he would take full responsibility for my cart being returned --- but the point is not the retuned items.... the girl never even said, oh i'm so sorry, nothing. When we moved to WARETOWN full time In 2006, we couldn't wait to see the new Shop Rite in our area finished being built..and yes opened..now 9 years later, there is no competition around for food shopping..other than if you need bulk items, you can go to bjs or Costco. Most of the time shop rite shelves are out of sorts, not filled with items needed to restock, and very pricey... I was in the store last week 2xs..big orders may I add, $279 and another $120..I was in dairy isle and there was sour cream on the shelf marked from January 8...come on... the employees aren't friendly, and like most of today's people working in this business have an attitude. Lighten up, either way they will collect a paycheck, maybe no benefits....they need an incentive. The manager has to look at his people. It would be nice to see some SMILES... Now here we are 12/31/2017...I really despise going into the store..if I don't have to I dont..the produce hadn't been too great, now it's worse..you go to meats, and they are down right nasty...no one Smiles..why? Do they really hate working? Maybe it's not their fault..they are just as pricey. Go there at least 3 times a week. The store for the most part is a nice store. Unfortunately the Deli Department is awful. my last 3 or 4 trips there have been horrible. SLOW is not the word, more like AWFUL !!! I did complain to the MGR. last week and he did walk over there and there was over 15 people waiting online. I was # 14 and they were up to 4. I waited over a half hour to be served. The Mgr. told me "they are all working", whatever that means. One morning I was there to order 2 subs, only one person in front of me and I waited over 20 minutes. Absolute disgrace !!! Deli Mgr. needs to be fired !!!! 2 stars. A basic discount supermarket. They have stopped carrying a lot of national brands and have replaced them with inferior store brands. I don't know whether that's because they are trying to push customer into products that are more profitable or if that's what the customers want, but it's not what I want. Frequent empty shelves are another frustration. If you can locate a stock droid to check on a missing product be prepared to wait for a while. +1 star for the pharmacy. They are pretty nice and call you if there's a problem. read more

This Shop Rite is a joke of a Shop Rite! Produce is never fresh, standard items out of stock and can they find slower check out people?
