Best jelly donut on the planet - it's true! Absolutely everything is delicious. Fresh and friendly - order it all.

First, the good part: the baked goods at Ferrara's are some of the best on the island. I've never bought anything there that wasn't fresh and delicious. Their prices are reasonable, too. Five Stars for quality. Now, the not so good part: the service is terrible. On multiple occasions, I've asked for something only to find when I get home and open the box that I was given the wrong thing. It happened today. I asked for two sticky rolls with pecans and I was given two with walnuts. The person who seems to make the most mistakes is the older lady who works there (whom I suspect is the owner, as all the other employees defer to her). She always looks stressed and out-of-sorts. My other complaint is that they aren't customer friendly. Last year toward the end of the summer, a friend gave me a gift certificate from Ferrara's that was supposedly good to the end of October 1st when they close for the year. When we went to use it in September, our last visit of the season to the island, we found the store closed for a week for some family event. When I explained what had happened after they reopened this year and asked if they would still honor the certificate, the grumpy lady said "no" because they had already "closed the books" for the previous year. For crying out loud, it was $20 coupon and I was a regular customer (emphasis on "was"). Despite the excellent baked goods, I prefer to give my business to bakeries that treat me well. Hence, I now buy most of my baked goods elsewhere, including at Big Apple Bakery on E. Bay Avenue in Manahawkin (next to the Acme Supermarket). Their stuff is just as good as Ferrara's and they have a larger selection. One Star for service. Five Stars plus One Star divided by two is Three Stars overall. read more

My first visit to Ferraras went well. Arrived on Saturday morning at 6:45 and there was a short line out front probably about 10 people. The line moved fairly quickly. I was excited to try the sugar coated jelly doughnut, but in my opinion and others in my household, the jelly to donut ratio was off, there was too much jelly filling. The Boston cream doughnut was just OK and the orange Creamsicle I didn't like it at all. Overall, the donuts are good, but we like the jelly donuts at Big Apple bakery in Manahawkin better. We stopped by yesterday morning for donuts. Glad we did! It's your typical Italian bakery, that makes a plethora of donuts. The woman at the counter very sweet and helpful. We got six donuts, chocolate cream, lemon cream, Boston cream, a couple of glazed donuts and something else which I can't remember. Each one delectable. Went in with a friend on our way off the island. Walked in and my friend was greeted by one of the girls working. She was very friendly. The other girl was about to greet the person behind me, but I asked for assistance, as I was ordering too. She had a bit of a chip on her shoulder. Anyway, we both ordered a few things. I got a Bastone, 2 apple fritters and a piece of crumb cake. Brought them back home for treats for my family. The bread was very good and the apple fritters were the best we've ever had. This jelly powdered donut you should only have once or twice a year. It's that special. It's that good. Don't abuse the privilege if you live close to this bakery. Just buy a dozen for friends or something so you at least can look at them throughout the summer. Still you should frequent this bakery weekly for pork roll egg and cheese sammies, turkey and cheese is as simple as it reads but it's solid, stuffed breads yes !! , cakes yes !! Walked in this past Thursday and asked a few questions about items in the case. Once we were ready to order, we let two groups of people that walked in behind us to order out of politeness. The girl working at the counter that was answering our questions with an attitude then thought it would be ok to ignore us and blatantly look past us to ask people in line after us for their orders. It was completely blatant what she was doing by ignoring us so boldly, knowing we were standing there waiting to order. Ferraras is easily my favorite spot in LBI. I came here once for breakfast sandwiches and instantly fell in love. Their donut display is out of this world. They have absolutely everything you can think of, custard, lemon filled, banana cream, strawberry cream, cannoli, Nutella and yes quite literally the best jelly donuts ever. As advertised. They have a nice sized parking lot on the side and a ton of street parking available. Even when there's a line out the door (which there normally is) I'm able to easily find a spot. When it's busy the girls behind the counter are quick and efficient. Their donuts are super fresh, decadently soft and over filled with all their delicious creations. Having tried quite a few already, I think my favorite is the Boston cream and anything that's custard filled. The dough on the donut is so soft and perfectly cooked while the custard is jam packed and always delicious. Donuts aren't the only star here - breakfast sandwiches! They make the best, my favorite is an egg and mozzarella cheese with ketchup on one of their fresh baked round rolls. The rolls are always perfectly soft, they're one of my favorite breads ever. They also make great sandwiches, I've gotten a turkey and cheese to take to the beach and it was perfect. They're also famous for their stuffed breads which I also tried. The pepperoni and cheese is pretty good. Perfect to slice up and serve as an appetizer or even take to the beach. Come here if you're looking for a great donut, personally my favorite in LBI. Huge bummer! Stopped in to try the "greatest jelly donut on the planet" and grabbed some subs and a few other treats. The donuts were blah (and waaaaay too much jelly inside, ew). The subs were MASSIVE (we thought they'd be for one person). And the bread was chewy and stale tasting with little meat/toppings for $18! The coffee cake looked amazing and tasted impressively bland. Ran into Ferrara's to get lunch and dessert. Picked their sausage bread and a peanut butter and jelly donut. Got strawberry frosted donuts for the kids. They advised me to heat the sausage bread for 10 minutes and said that it could be done on the grill. I put it on the top rack of the grill on medium and it worked great. Delicious blend of sausage, peppers, onions, and mozzarella cheese. Very tasty! Had the donut later, peanut butter and jelly was decadent. Kids enjoyed their strawberry frosted donuts. Delicious bakery on the Island in Ship Bottom. They stayed open until the third week of October. Pretty sure they reopen sometime in March or April. They claim to have the best jelly donut and it did not disappoint. Boston cream and jelly donuts were incredible. A must have if you're visiting or local. read more

Got an Italian sub from here. Had high expectations for a sandwich that was $18+ after tax. Was disappointed with what I received. The only thing good about this thing was that It was over a foot long and the bread was made in house. No mortadella, no capicola, no prosciutto. Just domestic ham, Genoa salami, and a mild provolone cheese. Topped with lettuce, onion and tomato. The onions were soggy. They could've been more generous on the lettuce and tomatoes. I've had better Italian subs from other delis that didn't cost nearly as much. Not to mention this place only accepts cash. I may come back to try one of their donuts. read more

I'm a bit of a bakery and donut snob. Being from CT we have the best of the best there and close by in NY. "Best jelly donuts on the planet" is a high expectation to set. And they were fine but certainly not the best on the planet. They were mushy, I prefer my donuts to have a bit of a crunch like they were freshly fried. Too much jelly, too much sugar. It gave me heartburn, and I never get heartburn from anything. We read other reviews that the apple fritters were highly sought after as well. I thought they were too big and did not have enough apples. Make it smaller and more plentiful with the apples. It's supposed to be an apple fritter, not a bland dough log. Only the outside edges with apple and glaze were good, we picked those off and threw out the rest. No indoor seating, too tight with more than 4 customers inside, and the staff seemed bothered by customers trying to figure out what they wanted. read more

The poor customer service in this establishment makes it undesirable to return to give them Business. I've been here a few times and each time it disappoints further. My last experience involved me calling ahead a breakfast sandwich order and arriving 20 minutes later to pick up only to find there was no order. The girl that assisted me had no explanation as to what happened to the order and could have cared less. I had to wait for them to make the order from scratch and was offered no apology or concern for what happened with the order. Neither did the owner/manager who was also present. I also picked up a dozen donuts and the selection at that time was scarce. Once i picked out a lot of duplicate donuts and paid i heard another employee telling another customer they had more donuts in the back that she could get them. I was not offered that option. Just really poor customer service all around. I get it that customers are a dime a dozen and for every one that doesn't return they have 20 more lined up at the door but good customer service shouldn't be optional when people are spending LOTS of money on vacation for overpriced items that lets be honest are not spectacular quality. I don't care what the sign says i've had just as good jelly donuts at dunkin. The rude unfriendly staff make it very undesirable to return. read more

My son, dad and I stopped by here for the first time today. We have lived on LBI our entire lives but have never been here. Definitely worth all the hype!!! We got a variety of donuts and a chocolate chip cookie. My dad's Creamsicle donut was unbelievably delicious. I don't even like Creamsicle but I loved it! The sugar jelly donut was amazing, as well. It was busy this AM but the service was quick and the prices were great. $12 for 5 donuts plus a gigantic cookie. We will be back for more donuts and to try the breakfast sandwiches!!!! read more

The breakfast sandwiches here are unreal. The best on the island by far. I get the Taylor ham egg and cheese with hash brown and hot sauce and it's amazing. The roll is perfect and makes the sandwich a 10/10. The donuts here are also the best on the island and the jelly donuts are to die for I could eat 100 of them a day. The Italian combo was disappointing only had ham and salami on it. Better combos at wawa which is sad. If this bakery can improve there combo then my god this place would be a 10/10 read more
