OMG. I am so glad we found this place. We celebrated my fiancés birthday dinner with another couple on a late December Saturday. The space is open and bright with eclectic artwork in the walls. It's quiet enough for easy conversation, but has a hip vibe about it. While Shoredog seems to be most known for breakfast and lunch, I highly recommend it for dinner. There's a decent, affordable wine list and a great menu of wonderful food. We had the Brussels sprouts appetizer and they were some of the best I've ever had. I am writing this review two months after we dined and I still remember them. I had the bistro steak which was delicious. Everyone at our table loved their food. Service was welcoming and attentive. This cafe does an excellent job adjusting meals for your allergies. Just make sure you mention ALL of them . Calling in to go orders for quick pickup sometimes works, sometimes not depending on who's working the counter and how busy they are. You get faster service (depending on who's serving) if you're inside. Service is friendly or bare minimum cordial and usually if you've got a smile for them you can get one back . Since Kuba Kuba Dos opened at the other end of this block of retail, there might be hope for the nabe, yet. But, and however, I haven't been thrilled with the place, beyond solid coffee. The food's OK, but I haven't been impressed enough by breakfast and lunch offerings to return for their dinner service Wednesdays through Saturdays, given the price points on their dinner menu. Service is earnest, but a little haphazard. Every time I've been in, the place has been, at most, 70% full, but the staff has been as harried as if the joint was full, with a line outside waiting. Net/net: OK, but not super. Good choice if you're in the area, but not worth an expedition. read more

So today I stop by because my wife wanted an expresso. Only reason I came by here was because Kuba Kuba didn't open til 11am. It's 10:40am and I didn't want to wait. So, when I arrived into the restaurant, there's two people ahead of me. Line moved quickly and I ordered my two expressos. Paid cash and gave my 60 something cents for tip(bad mistake). Tell me why it took about 15 minutes to make two expressos? Mind you, the two previous customers received their orders pretty quickly. It's not busy, no one is in line and I could've just waited to get the expressos I wanted Kuba Kuba. Would've been ok if they apologized about the delay but I got the silent treatment. Shoredog is great! Delicious breakfast and perfect espresso. This cafe is very comfortable and couldn't be cuter! My sister and I both ordered omelettes (onion+mushrooms for her, peppers+mushrooms for me). The omelettes were wonderful - I highly recommend the peppers. Breakfast comes with generous protein amounts. I also ordered an iced nonfat latte which was deeply flavorful and delicious - it was hard to not order a second one! We tried some of the ice cream, but were full from the eggs and had no room left. The ice cream was very tasty though, and local! I highly recommend this place. Surprised to see a patron refused a table this morning. Usually this shop is very inviting but this morning, apparently a group had a meeting and had coordinated reserving all of the tables in the coffee shop. Wow, walk-ins not welcome! Despite there being no signed indicating reserved on the table--as there was on another empty table--the patron was told she could not sit and enjoy her coffee and breakfast at said table. Fortunately the weather was pleasant this morning and the patron sat at an outside table. Not sure what kind of an impression it left on the patron but it definitely left an impression on me seeing a patron being told, essentially that walk-ins were not welcome. read more

I've been here for lunch a few times and while the food is decent, the service is very slow and the prices are kind of steep for what you get. For example, we have waited around 45 minutes before for a BLT sandwich during lunch time. I stopped in this morning with the hope of grabbing a quick to-go breakfast order. After waiting for 30 minutes for 2 breakfast sandwiches, it turns out that my ticket was lost. They cannot issue refunds (???), so I left with a gift card that I will probably never use. I stopped in for a late lunch by myself the other day. Counter ordering - which I don't mind, but I'd rather sit and browse a menu. I love the decor. Shoredog is a perfect break away from a busy work day. Breezy / casual / comfortable benches with large tables. They do have signs asking that you save them for big groups when it's busy - but it was quiet, so I could spread out and work through lunch. I ordered the first salad I saw and added some chicken. Arugula - goat cheese - sun dried tomatoes. I took a picture of the menu so you could see. The salad was excellent. By the time I added chicken, a Diet Coke & tip I was over $25 - which I don't like .... but that does not mean it was not good. I just eat out often, and prefer to keep my weekday work lunches under $20. The staff was lovely. Really could not have been nicer. All I can say is outstanding food. Get the tomato basil soup. I get it every time we go in for dinner or lunch. I live close by so we go frequently. The salads are good alone or with the soup. Notice the soup was mentioned again and yes, it is that good. Pizza is really good too. I love the thin crust. I'm a coffee geek and every single pourover here has been memorable. Someone over there is training the baristas well, plus they have the best grinder ever. A winning combination. The pourover beans available are unique and single origin, on rotation too so you're always trying something new. The pourovers are not listed on the menu but they clearly display the best brewing devices on the counter...v60, Kalita etc. Every cup Ive had has been dialed in well. We went here for breakfast on a Saturday a few weeks ago. The food was ok, as was the coffee. The service was not all that welcoming, however. Also, after ordering I handed my Amex to the woman running the register and she gave it back and said they don't accept American Express. She mentioned that she has to tell a lot of people that. Service was poor but that would have been ok if the food had been good. I got the blackened salmon which had no taste and was very dry. Friend got the NY Strip which was overcooked and tough. Total $.92 for the cost of goods sold, and that's retail cost assumptions. Folks, that's nearly a 700% mark up on just that one item. And, if you've ever ordered their ice cream "scoop", one can assume the margins are equally as high. Listen, Shore Dog, you are in business to make a profit, I get it. Also, you would be a great addition to the neighborhood, but unfortunately your time is limited, so get all the cash you can, while you can. Lastly, the sandwich isn't that good, pretty basic, and the portion is pitiful. Response: Ah, Gibbs tuck it up, your arrogance is showing. Thank you for highlighting your fundamental flaw.... you think you're the only game in town. Stop into ShoreDog this past Friday night for their grand opening to celebrate their new hours and menu. Great decision! They had a jazz band which lent a fun atmosphere to the already delightful decor. ShoreDog is a coffee shop offering breakfast and lunch and now, on Wed - Sat, they also offer dinner- to take out or sit down. It is a great place to go for a morning meeting and enjoy their lamplighter coffee and now, you can stop by in the afternoon/early evening and enjoy wine or beer. The pizza was out of this world! Its so nice to have a bright and cheery cafe located in the near west end that also offers some vegetarian options. Good parking and friendly staff makes this place a winner, IMHO read more
