Didn't want to make dinner. The family and I all came to the agreement to go for Jersey Mikes. We did the online ordering for pick up. It was convenient and easy to use. We especially like the option to customize our sandwiches. I have to give a big kudos to the customer service at the Branford Jersey Mikes. Our sandwiches weren't done as indicated on the app. The staff member (maybe manager), apologized and gave me a beverage while I waited. They were all super nice and I didn't mind having to wait for them to finish my order, because of the manner in which they handled the unfinished order. This is my hometown JM. It's always a hit or miss. Today was a miss. When I arrived at the counter to order, there was a pileup of bread next to the slicer. Two of the employees were bickering over $5 and there was a line at the counter and people who were waiting for orders. I asked for extra turkey and did not receive it. They placed the order receipts on the sandwich. Gross. There was a random piece of ham behind the slicers. I love Jersey Mikes but this must be the worst location in the country. I've been 10+ times, each time hoping for a better experience, but every time it takes way longer than it should, and the food is consistently wrong. Today, I ordered a chicken cheesesteak and got a beef cheesesteak. It's MUCH worse ordering takeout - the food is literally always 5-15 minutes late, and you can count on something being wrong with every sandwich. Very good sandwiches. A little pricey but well worth it they give you what you pay for and it is all fresh. The subs are a decent size. The staff is very friendly and also makes sure the customers are satisfied with there order. The only thing that I don't like is that it is hard to place an order by phone due to being under staffed at some points. Wow I had a wonderful experience at this Jersey Mikes the staff went above and beyond for me. I have a gluten allergy and they made sure I was taken care of they wiped everything down they used a different slicer to slice my sub. You can tell they really care about their customers . Everything is so fresh. Fresh cut cold cuts you pick the toppings. The red relish is outstanding which I usually get a small container on the side. This is one business that isn't doing it well during Covid19, went in today, you order 1 person in the store at a time, and the guy taking my order was nonchalant and that should have been my hint. We don't live close by so this was a special Saturday trip for my favorite sub there the "club sub" I asked for no mayo, add oil & vinegar, I got a sub full of mayo and no bacon on it which comes with the club sub and no oil & vinegar, so disappointed! Not sure if they changed portions due to COVID, but my giant Italian and giant steak n cheese seemed like they were what I have gotten on a regular sub in the past. Jersey Mike's has delicious subs. Nobody is denying that. What I will say is that most Jersey Mike's deliver those subs with a fraction of the professionalism that was displayed at the Branford Jersey Mike's sub station. I was greeted with a smile. When I had to make a change to my order I was told no problem don't worry about it also with a smile. Having worked in food service myself I know when someone is bullshitting me and this jersey Mike's employee was not bullshitting me. He really had no problem with me changing my order. That's rare these days! They were efficient, thorough, friendly, and did a great job with our giant sandwich! I will definitely be returning not just for the food but for the professionalism. Maybe this place is better than Subway, but if it is, it's only "slightly" better. They use slightly better cold-cut meats than Subway and they're sliced directly in front of you. But you won't find Boar's Head meats here. Their deli meats are labeled Jersey Mikes brand. I can't explain why it took somebody all the way from New Jersey to open up a chain of sandwich shops like this in Connecticut. The concept is hardly a novel idea in a state where the mass marketed sandwich shop chain was practically invented (ie: Subway). Anyway, go figure. For the same price of a sub ($7 for a reg), you might be better off trying some of the local deli alternatives in town. They are Shoreline Foods, Caron's Corner, and Lisa Theresa Deli (diagonally across the street from Jersey Mikes). If you are going to do any sort of comparison, the closest thing that comes to mind is D'Angelo's. Jersey Mike's is far better. The steak and cheese from here is cheesy and very heart-attack on a bun, but tasty. They cut and cook the meat right in front of you. They will fix it up however you ask. The #9 which is Turkey and Ham with Bacon is a great cold sub. They put on an insane amount of meat. I can only manage to eat half of a half. The buns are fresh, and never stale. Stopped in for lunch with LW on a sunny Thursday afternoon. Does Jersey Mike's live up to the hype? Well, it's better than subway, anyway, the service was unusually friendly. I had the famous steak sub (the regular was big enough for me - LW got a giant which had to have been at least three feet long, and somehow he ate it), without cheese of course. For some reason, it comes without any sauce unless you ask for it. I asked for some BBQ sauce, which was clearly just colored corn syrup. Not cool. The bread was bland and uninteresting, but the steak was tasty and cooked fresh. I wasn't blown away, but it was good. Bathroom was single-person, spacious, and clean. Definitely a bonus.
