Read the paragraph clearly titled "Seller Bidding". It tells you, IN PLAIN ENGLISH, that they bid against you. Yes, they actually have their computer program create fake bidder names, and this computer program then makes you bid up to your maximum pre-determined bid (they know it because you were dumb enough to enter the maximum you were willing to pay). If you did not enter your maximum bid and decide to "snipe" bid in real time as the auction draws to a close, their software determines how many times your internet IP address logged on and looked at that item- and the computer program does the rest. If you don't bid enough money, the computer program's fake bidder "wins" the item and it will be relisted next week under a new "auction ID number". Did you understand that? This is not a true auction site. There is a saying in poker that when you sit down at the table and can't spot the sucker, then YOU are the sucker. 2) THE LABELS "NEW/OTHER", "USED", "SHELF PULL", and "UN-INSPECTED ITEM" MEAN NOTHING: Go to sliBuy.com and then to "Terms & Conditions". Go to the paragraph clearly marked "Terms". They are telling you that "new" doesn't mean anything. An employee earning $12 an hour and at a very fast pace has to label things and photograph the outside of the box. What they call a "new" professional paint sprayer model XYZ sold at Home Depot could very well mean "Model ABC used for two years by a paint company, no longer working, and important parts removed so that it will never work again". In a court of law, a "reasonable" person could understand and define what "new" or "used" means. Here, they tell you- IN PLAIN ENGLISH, that this means nothing. So that is what sliBuy tells you, if you bothered to read the easy to understand large print from their website. *** Now this is what I tell you....I met many people who buy from sliBuy each week, and then re-sell the items on Craigslist, eBay, OfferUp, flea markets, and even (in the case of fake Pampers diapers returned by Amazon customers) to inner city "mom and pop" corner stores. I know one lady who buys about 100-200 boxes of diapers from sliBuy each week! She re-sells them to the inner city corner stores where customers are not the type to write letters to the manufacturer complaining about the degrading quality of the product. Another gent I met is "Hank". He makes a living buying whatever is "hot" at the moment, such as juicers for people wanting to lose weight gained during the Covid-19 pandemic. He brings an electrical cord and drives down the building to an outdoor electrical outlet, plugs in each of the electrical items he just "won", and tests them. If any are inoperable, he returns right away for store credit. Since he is a "regular" there, he has no trouble and is helped by staff. And that is why I give it 5 stars. For people who actually read the easy to understand "Terms & Conditions", and for "regular" customers, it is a way to make a living. Pretty much broken garbage, no return policy, which is thievery. The last 5 items i purchased ended up in the trash.

I have been a pretty active bidder on sliBuy (from day one) and its predecessor, Karen's Barn on eBay for over six years. Until recently, I had no problem recommending them to others with some warnings. Unfortunately, their product condition listings, titles, and photos often leave a lot to be desired. You bid at your own risk and are gambling that your item is complete and operational. (sliBuy personal will tell you that you are gambling.) With over 10,000 items up for auction each week, there are bound to be mistakes in the listings. Over the years, as a courtesy, I submitted hundreds of listing corrections to them. sliBuy does a good job of covering itself with their bidding rules by exempting themselves from just about any exception. Until recently though, they were pretty good about correcting blatant exceptions they had missed. Unfortunately, this has now changed. In a recent two-week period, I won two items that were incorrectly described. Had they been properly described; I would not have bid on them. 1. Water Distiller - Item was described as "new/other" (open box). The accompanying photos did not show otherwise. Upon receiving the item, it was immediately evident that the item had been heavily used, was encrusted with minerals, and appeared to have been run dry. It could not be cleaned nor could it be trusted to deliver pure distilled water. It definitely was not new. I submitted photos to them proving its condition. They wrote back acknowledging that it looked heavily used but only offered me a partial refund which I declined. 2. Smart Ceiling Fan - Photos of the fan's container showed an illustration of the fan and the fan's make and model number. There was nothing in the photo to indicate that the contents were anything other than what was shown. Using this information, I bid on and won the item. It had a retail price of $299. When I opened the box, I immediately discovered that the fan was not the one shown on the box. The model number and manufacturer were different. Retail pricing was $138. I could not use the fan. I immediately called sliBuy and informed them of the discrepancy. They asked me to send in photos to prove it. I complied. Two days later I was informed that my request for credit was denied. So apparently now, even if you're sent the wrong item, you're stuck with it. Needless to say, I was upset and informed the person I would then contest the purchase through PayPal/Visa to get my money back. The next day I got an email informing me that "your account has been deactivated for going against sliBuy's return policy." Funny, I hadn't acted on anything yet. They did issue me a credit for the fan but it looks like I'll have to file with PayPal/Visa for a credit on the water distiller. All I can say is "Let the bidder beware." read more

Check out the BBB ratings for this business, all complaints and reviews are very accurate. There was a chance you could get a decent deal but they have been getting worse lately, increasing fees and not allowing returns at all even on items they list as new when they intentionally hide damage and defects from pictures. Expect to have to repair most items or throw in the trash. Most google reviews are not very accurate some seem to have been bought. But the negatives in there are right on. And when you do review the business and give them a low rating they will block you from accessing the site, even if you had credits or invoices. I ordered 5 or 6 bread makers and a submersible water pump. The bread makers were simply put in 2 boxes, 3 in one box, 2 in another. No packing material between them. They all were dented, smashed, and not usable. I took pictures and sent them to you. The water pump was dented, bent, and I believe from vibrations in shipping was damaged, or it could have been shipped to me damaged. As of over a week after sending pictures to you of the items damaged I still have no refund. A legitimate, decent company would have immediately refunded me when they saw the damage to these bread makers. I called today, 12/4/2019 and asked on the status of the refund. The person I spoke with said that they'll refund me once it's been processed. I made the statement, and I'm firm with this belief, that once you saw the damaged that occured to these bread makers you should have immediately refunded me. They were NOT usable. I'm going to get others opinions and post the pictures on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and see what the social media think of your company and get their opinions on how they should deal with a company like yours. I have not had a bad experience so far, i have made about 25+ transactions so far. Once a coffee pot was broken and they accepted the return due to the listing being "new". A few times the items have been scuffed or damaged and i have had to repair them, this does not bother me due to being able to purchase the items 60%+ off the msrp. understand if you buy items listed as "used" or "uninspected returns" that you will have issues trying to return the items. the people working there have never been disrespectful or unhelpful to me. try to take in mind that they appear to be short staffed at peak hours. expect to wait 1hr+ if you pick up items on saturday mornings, slibuy you need to fix this issue, perhaps have two pickup lines, one for orders of less than 5 items. a little common sense goes a long way in this place. Do not purchase items that rely heavily on electronics or glass since these items are likely to be broken or the cost of fixing them would be outweigh the savings. do not purchase items that are delicate and easily damaged. also do not purchase items that are to be used by contractors since it seems like they are willing to pay near msrp for the items, i believe that since they would purchase the items anyways for their business that they are happy to just save 5-10% off msrp. the items i have had more success in are items with simple to no electronics such as: freezers, garden tools, baby items, home decor, non electronic tools, also items that are high end seem to be were a good chunk of savings are, i got a 2k msrp mattress for 300, a 600msrp stroller for 200 the thing i do not like about this place which is why i took a star off is that they changed their hours at the new location so that its difficult for people that have a standard 9-5 job to be able and stop by and view items before bidding. And not stopping by on saturday to view upcoming week options is not an acceptable option since its a mayhem on saturdays from people picking up items. i also have suspicion that someone is inflating bids on items, a couple times an item gets popular and the price skyrockets yet the item magically appears at a later auction date, i may be crazy but i think someone associated to company bids to raise the price and if the "inflator" wins the bid the item is just placed at a later auction. i do not have proof of this just suspicions. Also very very important to know is your manufacturer's warranties, i have had success with items being with broken or missing components and the manufacturer sends me missing parts for free, only certain companies do this while others will not approve manufacturer warranty due to it being purchased at auction, the most recent one not accepting warranty claims is graco manufacturer of baby items. if you have basic knowledge is electrical wiring, soldering/welding, powder coating, wood repair then this is the place for you, this place is not for people who just want to purchase the item and expect it to work perfectly. another reviewer mentioned that auctions are getting cancelled due to low bidding, if this is true then that is totally unfair and a total deal breaker. if slibuy read this comment please allow users to just pay online print receipt and then allow them to just get into the pickup line one more thing, to people complaining about the 3%+ additional fee for credit card processing, just pay online using the paypal option to avoid the processing fees, read more

CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE! Never returns calls, especially the manager(s). My recent purchase with them had an estimated shipping for four items was $125. They charged me $225. They gave me a FedEx tracking number and the items showed *delivered not by FedEx but UPS* just under a month later. The SLIBUY manager said the weight of my items was 380 pounds. When each item was broken down based on their individual weight, the total was 278 ( w/pallet). They overcharged by more than 100 pounds!!!!! My next purchase was a set of pot and pans for a total of $418.95 that I paid by credit card. They put an extra charge on the bill because I used a credit card so the total came to $431.52. A day and a half later they took the charge off my credit card and put it on my debit card but KEPT THE CREDIT CARD SURCHARGE even when I complained that it should be refunded since the credit card transaction was reversed/cancelled. I received the cookware, which was advertised as "NEW", three weeks later and half of the items were used. I contacted SLIBUY (part of Sherwood Liquidators) and after three days of emails and calls they said they would send me a shipping label so I could return the cookware. I never received the label and they refused to send another. They claim that every time they send a label FedEx charges them. I called FedEx to confirm this and gave FedEx the supposed tracking number supplied by SLYBUY and they did not recognize the number. They also said that unless the label is used there will be no charge. It cost me $24 to send the used cookware back to them. I called them 11 time and emailed 4 times and they told me I was a liar and had received the label. But if I received the label, why wouldn't I use it instead of spending $24? Very rude and unprofessional! They gave me credit, NOT A REFUND, in the amount of $418.95 when the amount charged to my debit card was $431.52, the difference being a credit card surcharge for the initial transaction which was cancelled as the final transaction involved my debit card--yet I was still charged a surcharge for a cancelled transaction. My total out of pocket was $455.32. For a item that was misrepresented. It cost me $36.57 to be abused!!!!!! In other words they took $36.57 of MY MONEY!!! Dealing with these people is a NIGHTMARE. They are rude, unprofessional, and totally void of any concept of customer service. Three out of the last five items I purchased were misrepresented, damaged, or missing parts and ALL WERE SOLD TO ME AS NEW!!!! These people are very dishonest. To be foretold is to be forewarned A year or even 6 months ago I would have rated this place 10 out of 5 stars but unfortunately 1 start is too much for this place anymore. When I first came across SLIBUY I was totally impressed. It seemed they had a good thing going and was well organized. I have made SEVERAL purchases with them over the past year + and I can say in the last few months they have been a nightmare. New/OTHER is now (as they argued today) RETURNED when in fact they have a category for that classification. Today was typical of the past few months as I had to spend about 2 hrs of my day in line to 1) Return items from the previous week that were next to JUNK but listed as NEW/OTHER 2) Wait for them to look for the item I won last Thursday 3) Get back in line since they could not find the item I won and had to have it credited back. Because of this they have decided to close my account, but it is what it is. I dont know what exactly changed, but in reviewing the 32 paid invoices I still have (there were older ones I no longer have them) it appears that it was around May of this year when they began to misrepresent item in the catalog or could not find them when I arrived to pick them up. It would be OK if items were marked as RETURN but they are listed as NEW/OTHER with no notes. The pics used to be helpful but as of late they became hard on some items to discern if there was damage or not. Going through these invoices I can note multiple times I had gone all the way to their location (roughly 20 miles) and items I had won were simply missing and they could only offer a "sorry" and return my payment (which takes two trips through the line that takes 45 min to an hr to get though as of late). Do you know how Yelp has a statement saying how business owners value your feedback, they are not talking about Slinky. Slibuy really doesn't care. I have found a couple good deals but about half of the auctions I won were broken, some where in little pieces, some just didnt work. They will seldom give a refund. You use to could check the item out before you left the premises but not since the pandemic. I have won a few that they couldn't find once I got there. In these situations the will provide a refund. One of the most unprofessional companies I've ever dealt with as a contractor. I have received numerous broken items from poor to no packing around item. On more than one occasion I have received the wrong item. The straw that broke the camels back for me, was when I ordered a sink and asked for an estimate to shipping to my address prior to bidding on the item. I was given a quote of $50-$60. Bought the item and then was given an invoice showing a $200 shipping cost . There is no doubt in my mind that this is a criminal organization on par with--and probably run by--the mafia. On eBay they go by various names but mainly Karens Barn / karensbarn--the most innocuous sounding of names--but completely nefarious nonetheless. I won three different auctions from karensbarn on eBay recently--one was a single light fixture--and so far seems to have all the parts needed in the box--the other two had (3) fixture each--for a total of six light fixtures--all Home Depot "returns". Out of the (6) fixtures I was sent, (6) of them were missing parts--or had broken parts--or BOTH. Six out of six... 100%. Of course, there was NO mention of this in ANY of the eBay listings. They were simply listed as "Used". And in the fine print... way down at the bottom of the listing it says: "This lot has not been checked or tested. I sell lots like this "as is" with returns accepted. This means please don't complain if some/all aren't working/damaged or are not complete. If it's bad just send it back for a full refund, no questions asked. I sell some items like this because it takes to long to check and test every item. Selling lots like this is better for both of us... faster for me and cheaper for you! " So... it took me less than 2 minutes with each fixture to discover that there were missing or broken parts. But it took me at least two HOURS to deal with the headaches of returning all of these fixtures to these crooks. By their justification, they could have sent me a box full of rocks--or a box with something OTHER than the light fixture shown on the box--because "it takes too long" to verify that what's advertised in the listing is actually what you are going to receive. I'm a risk taker... and if ONE out of the six light fixture had been missing parts or damaged, that's one thing. But SIX out of SIX is unacceptable by ANY standard. It's simply fraud--no two ways about it. I'm sure MANY people don't go through the boxes completely or carefully within the 14 day period allowed for returns. If I could I would give this place a minus 5 stars. This place is a total scam. As others have mentioned they primarily sell returns. They have four classifications for their items: Shelf Pull, New/Other, Uninspected Returns, and Salvage. The last two categories state those items are not returnable. I purchased an item listed as New/Other. It did not work, when I asked for return they stated the "Notes" showed it was "Unable to Test" so it was not returnable. Nowhere on their site does it say "Unable to Test" precludes returning an item. Unfortunately by the time i received that item I had purchased three others. When I received them a "New/Other" item was broken, "Uninspected Returns" item that was described as a Lot of two Nikon camera mounts was actually a generic photography backdrop stand. The third item was a "Shelf Pull" marine extension cord. What I received instead was a 200 amp outdoor breaker box that had been stripped of the breakers. As of today they have not replied to my requests for return of items. Anyone know an attorney in the Chicago area that might be interested in a class action suit? There is a reason the warehouse is so critically understaffed. The management is terrible and offers no refunds on the numerous broken items inside the facility. The company runs no background checks and employs numerous ex cons due to their disposability, and while providing masks for employees they do not require them to be worn. I purchased a cat tree for my daughter for Christmas 11/24/2017. It was listed as new / other on the auction. It came in a big box all taped up tightly. Well yesterday she unwrapped it and it is missing all kinds of parts, it turns out there was supposed to be a second box that I never got. I called Slibuy the day after Christmas and was told that it was over their 7 day return policy and there was nothing they would do. It wasn't listed as used or for parts so I never thought to open it. I now have a bunch of worthless parts and don't have the pieces to assemble it. So my experience with Shorewood Liquidators was very poor. I put a bid in for a bicycle it turned out to be the wrong bike in the Box and it was damaged but labeled as new. The bike in the photo was a 500 dollar bike the one in the box was a 200 dollar bike. They gave me store credit would not let me use it in the garage sale area said it could only be used in the auction. When I got home I tried contacting them and left a voicemail my number and name and still did not get a call back. I left a poor review on Facebook about my experience at Shorewood Liquidators. They tried reaching out to me after I left the poor review. I went in there today demanding my $125 back due to the fact that they deactivated my account because of my Facebook review. They openly told me that's why they deactivated my account and that I would have to wait for 2 weeks in order to review my account to justify if I'll get money back or get store credit. I demanded a refund and I eventually got my 125 when I said I would speak to a lawyer about the situation. To give you guys a heads up they told me they take photos from factory images that don't correspond to the products that are actually in the box that's why they do not take a picture of the model numbers. The place is a scam operation don't waste your time or money. Garbage picking is free so why spend your money and usually there are no lines. read more

RESPONSE TO REPLY Well, that was a vague response now wasn't it ? And no offer to fix anything, of course. Additionally, on eBay they drag their feet on returns until the 90 days has run and then they said they can't return your money. Example you send the product back after they delay get a new label and at first they said they can't find it and then they search around for a while and eventually they find it, Then a promise a refund will be forthcoming nothing happens then you called back again and they lost it again and before you know it it's past 90 days and they said they can't do anything.
