Pot Roast, scrambled eggs, Hash browns with Pancakes!
    Paul H.

Arrived in a Saturday Morning at 8:55am. Got seated (come early, they fill up fast). Nikki our server was very cordial and attentive. (She deserves a raise folks!) Order the hash browns crispy, the pot roast was most excellent and pancakes nice, fluffy and large. One does NOT go hungry after coming here. A must stop for breakfast or brunch in Algonquin!

A great bang for your buck kind of place with good old American brunch options. It's a cute little dinner decorated with eclectic Knick knacks. The service is fast and good. I ordered the Famous Belt Buster with Avocado, which was $7.50! It came with two over easy eggs, crispy hash browns, 2 slices of thick cut firm bacon, avocado and 2 decently sized pancakes. It was absolutely delicious and very filling! I over stuffed myself, because I couldn't stop eating; under normal conditions usually I'd take left overs home, but I really enjoyed it so much I kept eating! My date had the southwestern skilled which contained 2 over easy eggs on top of chorizo, green peppers, onion, breakfast potatoes and cheese. A side of short stacks was also included with no extra charge. The flavors of the skillet dish were nice except our only complaint would be the green pepper and onion were a little too undercooked for our preference. All in all, I'd recommend this place for breakfast and brunch! It's a cute little cheap spot with good food!

Stopped for breakfast before Doctor appointment. Don't live near here but high rank on Yelp. Did not disappoint. French toast was perfect. Coffee very good. Cool vibe. Sat at counter. Big menu.

I'm not sure where you're going for breakfast but turn around and head here!! I promise you will not regret it. From the cute interior, the very polite and friendly staff, and the unbelievable fresh and homemade food, this place is my new breakfast spot! Pictured is the homemade steak chilaquiles (homemade chips and verde sauce) and pumpkin pancakes (yes, pumpkin, year round).

Small and tight and just right. Worth the wait! Most excellent breakfast. Rhonda our waitress very pleasant and attentive. (Give her a raise!) sat at the counter which had a good spacing. Country steak nice and crisp, eggs great, huge pancakes that I could not finish. When in Algonquin for breakfast or lunch, make the stop!

Brunch is a great thing especially when you find a little gem like Bella ' s Short Stack. Appearance: It is a nice little place. Very nice and comfortable. Service: The service is good. Our waitress was attentive and made sure we had a refill on our drinks. Food: Delicious food. I ordered the breakfast burrito which had eggs, peppers, and came with breakfast potatoes. I tried their pancakes, as well. It was like eating a marshmallow (very fluffy pancake). Overall: There are times I wonder, why I bother writing a review since the reviews I saw basically say it is a great place to go to. This has been the 3rd time I have been to short stacks and I have had a great experience everytime. I really recommend going if you have a chance. They have one of the best pancakes I have ever had.

A nice clean place with good breakfast food. Similar to burnt toast but better prices. We prefer it.

But the real surprise comes from the sandwiches, where the kitchen leans into creativity with bold, city-style flair. It's the kind of place where you arrive planning to keep things simple and leave wondering why you didn't order one more. Fun, inventive, and undeniably delicious. Come for the meat. Sunday "Father's Day... Worst Restaurant Experience!…read moreMy son and grandson wanted to take me out for a Father's Day lunch and we chose The Chick and the Pig since we never ate there. We got there around 12:30, ordered our food by phone (because there is no wait staff other than a bar tender), pay for the food via phone, and waited a hour only to be told that there was no food left. Customers that came in after us had ordered and ate but not us. Finally my son went up to the kitchen window to ask why we didn't get our food. The kitchen staff told my son "We ran out of food". One would figure that there would have been some type of announcement made instead of leaving us and some other customers hanging but, nobody said a peep. This was the worst experience we've ever had at any restaurant! How can this place even operate without a wait staff and run out of food soon after it opened for the day. It simply was not busy enough to run out of food. Seems to me that the underlying problem is the owner and management. One thing I do know is that I will never go to this restaurant again nor their other restaurant Bold American Fare. Thanks Chick and the Pig for leaving us hungry and for giving us a very bad experience on Father's Day!!

I decided to follow his lead, and we both ordered the tender slider meal with fries. We also paid extra for the cheese sauce for the fries. One thing I really like is that you can customize the spice level on the chicken tenders. That's especially nice for my wife because she's not a big fan of spicy food. While we waited for our food, I had a chance to check out the atmosphere. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, and they also offer outdoor seating. I really liked the graffiti-style artwork throughout the walls, which gave the place a fun and energetic vibe. The service was good, and we didn't have to wait very long for our food. Now, let's talk about the chicken tender--it was huge! It was actually bigger than the soft potato bun, which really impressed me. The tender was fully coated in their spice seasoning, giving it a nice red color. We ordered it hot, and I'm glad we did because the spice level was just right for us. The tender was drizzled with their signature sauce, which was creamy with a slight sweetness that helped balance out the heat. The slider also came with coleslaw and a pickle. Overall, the sandwich had great presentation, flavor, and texture. The crinkle-cut fries were pretty basic but had a light Cajun seasoning. The cheese sauce was creamy with a mild flavor that reminded me of nacho cheese. One thing I noticed is that the meal doesn't come with a beverage, which was a little surprising. Overall, I was really satisfied with the chicken slider. I'd definitely come back again, especially with my wife. The closest location to us is in the Schaumburg area, so I'm looking forward to bringing her along next time.

The not-chicken (cauliflower) is really good, especially at a hot spice level. Employees are usually very friendly and the place is always clean (sometimes it's a little sticky by the pop machine, but that is to be expected). My only complaint is that they need to crank the a/c in the summer because it gets very hot in there. Eating hot wings in a sauna is crazy.
