The owner sits on his cameras (remotely/off site because he's a coward) during events like the parade of lights (Christmas event Lodi holds annually). 12 people got towed in under an hour by the tow yard around the corner at $400-$500 each. He's hateful to the residents of the city he operates in. I have been coming here for 15 years and ever since it changed ownership it has been horrible. Can't wait to find the name of the owner in city records and post his name, businesses and home address because it's the 21st century which makes data easy to find. Employees are nice and they sell gas. It does the job. I don't usually go to gas stations for pleasure, so the fact that the inside is outdated and grimy doesn't really bother me. Plus side: They sell gas and the usual gas station drinks and snacks. Downside: It feels dirty inside an draws in an interesting crowd of characters. This is one of the first times - maybe THE first time - I'll be writing such a negative review. Be sure you know what you are giving the people who work the cash registers, because they'll steal from you. I stop here occasionally, because I work nearby, to pick up small items or maybe a drink. A couple of times, I was pretty sure I gave them a larger bill than what they told me I gave them. Then today, KNOWING I had only a $20 and a $10, giving them a $10 and being shortchanged for $5, I went to Yelp. That, combined with the bait-and-switch gas prices that are rarely as advertised, tells me I'll NEVER be going to this place again and I advise all of you to do the same. The extended hours are great and all but why would you close your store in the middle of a heat wave to seemingly renovate? And without prior notice to your customers? Put up signs in the future a few days before so your customers don't suffer because of it? Or, I dunno, do it when you're closed. I walked a couple blocks in 100+ heat to get some water. This place used to be a very good gas station back when it was under the management of the previous owners who also own the laundromat next door but they sold the business to a gentleman and his wife who are the rudest people I've ever come across in a customer service setting. I'll explain a bit further. One day.a friend of mine and I were standing out front talking to each other while we waited for our other friend who was inside grabbing us some sodas . Out of nowhere the owner comes outside and demands to know which one of us pushed the emergency pump shut-off button which neither of us had even looked at!! I told him "we did not touch the pump shut-off button and he told us that" every time the button is pressed that the police are automatically called which I responded to him saying " that's okay they won't be coming cuz nobody press the button" by this time his wife had come out to join the argument sticking her fat ass nose up in the business and started cursing at me calling me a piece of shit and to get the fuck off their property to which I responded "fuck you fat bitch" and then this is where it gets good.......the husband takes off his belt as to hit me with it so I charge him and just as I am about to have my hands on him my friend grabs me up and tells me it's not worth it to whoop his ass especially not on camera blah blah blah anyways the point of the story is very unprofessional rude and ignorant people work here that tend to resort to violence against their patrons when they have no other route to go in order to prove their point (which I'm still unsure what their point was that day) I am not the only person that has had a problem with these people. No wonder that not too long after that one of their gas pumps was smashed I assume by someone else that they pissed off or tried attack. And the gentle man who wrote the review about them being thieves and sorry changing you is not lying I have caught them doing this too along with double charging my food stamp card. Avoid this place and do your self a favor by spending your money at a nicer gas station where you don't run the risk of being assaulted just because the clerk had a hangover or decides he just doesn't like you. Responding to their advertisement stating that they are now offering Broaster Chicken, I showed up at lunch and was ignored at first as the concessionaire was more interested in having an intimate conversation than offering food. The clerk told me to come back later yet couldn't suggest a time. What was offered in their warm case looked old and inedible. I'm sorry to say this store is severely mismanaged and will fold soon. read more

It's got friendly people, and though the racing decor is out of date, it's a cleanish gas station. The prices aren't the lowest in lodi, but they have most of what you need in a convienient place. You could do much, much worse. The attendants are always nice and very helpful. read more

In terms of gas station/convenience store combos in Lodi, this place is by far the worst--which if you know Lodi, says a lot. The owner or owners are all of Indian or Middle Eastern descent (shocker), and are, for the most part, rude to most of the customers. The store has no other males on its staff, as all of the workers are hispanic girls who appear to have been friends for years. Most of them are very lazy--doing only the minimum that is required of them. Most days I walk in I see them lounging in the back room while one of Lodi's many homeless girls (who are not on staff) are busy cleaning. In the last year, the store has been under a remodel that has made it extremeley difficult for customers. The remodel finally ended about a month ago-(and the store looks much worse), but now they are undergoing some type of construction again that "forced" them to close yet again today. The store is always dirty, and every time I use my card the girls "ask me" if I want a receipt??? A couple of times, when I was in a hurry, I said no, and later ound that the girls had double charged me...probably pocketing the difference. In summary, this is the ABSOLUTE WORST gas station/"convenience" store I have ever been to--not just in Lodi, but in the United States as a whole. If you live in, or are traveling through Lodi, and you need some gas and snacks, do yourself a favor and skip the Lodi ShortStop. There are plenty more of these places in the local area--places that are open when they are supposed to be, carry the goods they are supposed to carry, and have employees that wont steal from you. The Lodi Short Stop at Turner and Sacramento Street is by far the DIRTIEST, MOST UNFRIENDLY, POOREST STOCKED and most UNETHICAL establishment in the City of Lodi. read more
