We stopped in here on the way to my nephew's football game. Two things led us here: the reviews, and the lack of other options. Haha! We met up with some other family members coming from other directions, so it worked well. We headed in and they weren't super busy, but it was a weird time of day. The restaurant looked nice on the outside. Inside, there is a baseball theme, however I was concerned with football, and they graciously tuned one of the three TV's to my team's game upon request. We ordered at the counter (like fast food) and then went to our table where we waited for our order to be brought out to us. I ordered the mushroom and swiss burger with onion rings. I can't remember what they called it...all their burgers have odd names (maybe relating to baseball?). Nothing wrong with that, but the names of the burgers don't tell you intuitively what they are. Also, they don't have menus that you can hold and the digital menus above the counter are hard to see. Regardless, the burger was good. I guess after reading all the reviews I was expecting something bigger. It was pretty thin...good, but I was expecting more. Onion rings were hot and good. We are regular summer visitors to Shortstops as the location is close to the pool. The inside is themed baseball while being tasteful and well-done. My daughter loves the bats that they've turned into lamps for some tables. It's counter service with fill your own drinks and refills. We've never been for breakfast but the dinners are pretty spectacular. The kids meal is a good portion and perfect for a lighter meal or a 3 year old. My husband and I have tried most things in the menu like hot dogs, hamburgers, and boneless wings. The chicken tender meal (6.99) comes with 2 huge chicken tenders, a side, and drink. It's a great deal! The dessert options include milkshakes, which we normally split, and cookies. The cookies are a hit and a good incentive to get our 3 year old to eat her whole meal. read more

This place is filthy inside. The baseboards have brown stains all over them, the floors are sticky because they "do not have a mop at the moment". They gave us our food on some dirty trays with no plates because "they don't have them" so a to-go box did the trick. One of the bbq rays sauce containers they gave us was open. We had to hold our daughter while we all ate because the high chair had food build-up and was sticky. Idk how this place is still open and has business. This is such a great place for lunch. My girlfriend and I drove 50 minutes just to come here - we were very impressed. The two top things that stood out to my girlfriend and I - good food, clean restaurant. I ordered the changeup combo with cheese curds - so delicious. My girlfriend ordered the five-piece, honey bbq boneless wings combo with hush puppies and ate it all. The staff there was super friendly. The young woman (whose name I cannot remember) helped us pick out our food and got it to us in a timely manner. I really like their burgers and hotdogs, and they have really good milkshakes and a good amount of flavor selections. I would highly avoid their chicken.. at least from my experience there chicken biscuits for breakfast are GROSS , the quality of the chicken is terrible, you honestly get better chicken at McDonald's Or biscuit company. It looks like straight "'Mush". And the flavor was not there either. I couldn't even eat it. Their hash browns are pretty good, and so is their bacon, so I'm sure anything with bacon would be good breakfast wise. Shortstop's is by far the best thing that has ever happened to Ramseur. This fast food establishment which is a subsidiary of Coach's is fantastic. They have excellent cheeseburgers as far as fast food is concerned. They have great tasting and non-greasy french fries. Shortstop's also has a lovely milkshake as well, however my only complaint with the milkshake is that they should give you a larger milkshake style straw. It's delicious and I'm impatient so the larger straw would help to get this ice cream in my belly faster. This restaurant offers dine-in as well as carry out and a drive-thru. Ok we are in a Pandemic.But we still must EAT..So with the new highway open around Asheboro why not shoot around Ashboro and drop in Ramsauer NC.Shortstops Burgers and Shakes was on our mind.We did a quick look at the menu.Backstop offers 7 different kind of burgers,BBQ,Philly Cheese Steak and several HotDogs.A whole bunch of Milkshakes.I chose a double that came with cheese,bacon,jalapeños,LT and Mayo.A good quality and helping fries.My wife chose a MVP which came with cheese LT Mayo and bacon and fries.Our food was hot.Our fries had been seasoned with salt and did not need anything else but a little ketchup.The jalapeños gave my double just a bit of heat.Plus with two patties was all a hungry person needed.So glad I did not get a triple.I can see a second trip in our future.So much more to sample.One let down. I asked for ketchup.Got three whole packs to be used between the two of us.And we got one napkin.The togo line was to busy to get back in.Luckily we had napkins salt and pepper plus some packets of ketchup.Maybe if we had dined in we may have gotten more condiments. read more

Visiting the area for a short weekend family vacation found this place on the way to millstone orchard and my family and I were blown away how good the food was. Hamburgers and hotdogs were the best we have had and we could not compare it to any other fast food place. Decided to give this place a go out riding around with the mutt. Tasty burgers, nice hot and juicy, nice service too, and everything was fresh... Been back several times since. Worth the drive even though we live on the opposite side of Asheboro. You just can't consistently get this good of a burger at any drive thru in A-town, period. Shake (strawberry) was good also, but a double burger, onion rings and a shake had me stuffed even feeding the mutt half the rings. Onion rings are above avg, but not as good as Dixie Express. Overall a nice addition to the area. Especially the burgers. read more
