This was my first visit to this restaurant and I will be going back even though it is a 45 minute drive. The menu has a very wide selection of food choices. We went to arrive after the noon lunch but that didn't happen because the crowd kept coming. After throughly reading the menu I finally decided on the small plate of popcorn shrimp with a baked potato and coleslaw. Since it was my first time i wanted make sure the dish was good, and it was! When our order was delivered the oval plate was piled at least 3 inches high. I had asked for an extra plate to put the potato on so I would be able to prepare it for eating without pushing the shrimp off the plate and am I glad I did because the plate was so full I would have had to eat most of the shrimp. I was also impressed that while there was a large crowd, we were seated immediately and our orders were taken and served in a timely manner. During the short wait I saw that the staff jumped on a table to clean as soon as the guests walked away from the table. And the noise level was low and we could carry on a conversation without yelling. As an afterthought, maybe it was quiet because everyone was eat the great food. As we were leaving I saw a server bring out the regular size plate and almost fell over. It was on a round plate that looked to be 11 to 12 inches and loaded 2 or 3 inches high. As much as I can eat, I doubt I could have eaten all that! Great food, service, ambiance, what more can you ask for. I will be back soon. read more

My dad went and ordered some takeout from this place and it was disgusting. He literally ordered three different entrees and they were all terrible. They barely had any taste and oh my god the hush puppies were god awful, they were drenched in low quality oil and even an hour later I can still feel my throat coated in it and it is the most horrific after taste I've ever had in my life. My stomach instantly turned after eating it, my mom agreed it was atrocious. I highly recommend staying away from this place it's absolutely trash. read more

Came here before visiting the NC Zoo and this place did not disappoint! First the service was outstanding, from the hostess and the cashier and especially from our server, Christy. I was there with my mom and autistic nephew. She was fantastic with my nephew as well as providing great all around service. The food here was good and they have huge portions. The photo is the "lighter" lunch portion. I couldn't even eat half of it. We liked the eclectic decor and music. We will be back next time we are in town! read more

We ordered takeout for a big group and had some specific requests because our meal was going to different places. Everything was done correctly which was great! The kids meal chicken strips was an impressive meal for a kid! The tenders were huge! The meal is customizable for a potato--you don't just have to get fries. We got a sweet potato, it was soft on the inside and perfect. I get the same thing every time I eat from here. I have since I was about 16 years old. I get the beef tips cooked medium rare, with a sweet potato and side salad. It comes with baked beans but I'm not a fan so I swap out for applesauce. My husband got salt and pepper catfish with fries. It wasn't dried out, the breading had pretty good flavor to it. The pieces were large too! He says it was tasty! It was just okay. The look of the restaurant is very outdated. The food is okay. I mean it was served warm but none of it was anything where I was like "I have to come back when in the area again". This is a solid restaurant choice with great seafood and burgers. I opted for onion petals instead of fries with my burger, they were delicious. They had a great ranch dressing, which seemed a little extra special, and next time I will definitely go for one of their seafood platters. Lots of folks in the restaurant, a packed place is always a good sign. Love their clever wall decorations as well. Our waitress was good and very polite. My wife ordered a shrimp plate and was very satisfied with her meal. I ordered the seafood lover combo and was very dissatisfied. The flounder and whitefish was so greasy it wasn't worth eating. We ordered the senior meals, rib-eye and baby catfish, and received heaping plates full of steaming hot food and free drink refills. The place was packed; however, we didn't have to wait for a table. The restaurant is huge. The first thing you notice when you go inside is the decorations. It reminds me a bit of Cracker Barrel. There is stuff all over the place. Within a minute of being seated, our waiter arrived. We had already decided that we wanted some fish, so there was no delay in ordering. (Note: their menu has a wide variety of almost anything you can think of.) Our food was delivered in less than five minutes. We were in and out in 20 minutes. We shared a plate because we have been there before and know the size of their portions. They are huge. We still had enough left over for a third person. The price is very reasonable. Including our drinks, our bill was less than $15.00. This was not our first time at America's Roadhouse, and it won't be our last. read more

I selected the daily lunch special, which was chopped beefsteak w/ gravy, mashed potatoes, and applesauce which I substituted for the green beans. Decor - a bit of overkill on the mishmash of objects. There's rustic mountain "hillbilly" objects next to ocean themed things and more little signs with clever sayings, with an overabundance of Pepsi lighted signs. The beefsteak was charred, and that's all I could taste. Applesauce was presented in a small plastic cup with lid - as in how things are served when you are a hospital. Employees were efficient. After seeing the zoo, we decided to stop here for the first time based on the reviews, and we were not at all disappointed. Our server was incredibly cheerful and hilarious, and our drinks never emptied. Our lunch arrived quickly and was amazing. My husband ordered the Philly Cheese Steak with onion rings, while I ordered the June Burger Special. Both were outstanding. Usually, there isn't room for dessert, but we soldiered on and ordered a small version of the Chocolate Volcano, which is a lot for two people. The resulting sugar coma was totally worth it. I am on the fence with this restaurant. At times the fish is so thin that all you get is breaded skin other times it's fine. I love seafood and there isn't much competition in Asheboro. I have said I wouldn't go back there but then I do and I try to give it another chance. The sweet tea, coleslaw and tarter sauce are really good. The waitstaff is consistently good also. The location and decor are good. It's just that sometimes the quality of the fish and the fact the shrimp are not deveined removes a star or two, well at least it does for me. read more
