Yelp showing its Dog Friendly which is how our search was filtered on Yelp.

Passer through BEWARE The only reason this place is getting it to is because the food was decent. Not great but decent. We went to this restaurant based on yelp. It is 100% of the restaurant management or owners to maintain information provided on yelp. 1. It's advertised as a barbecue restaurant.. there was no barbecue. It was chicken, wings, and hamburgers, and one brisket sandwich lumped in with the hamburgers. We even tried to look at the menu prior to coming, but their website menu does not work. Nowhere on the website did it say that it depended on the day of the week. I 2. In Yelp it's classified as dog friendly. It is not. 3. You have to go outside to the side of the building to use the bathroom like some 1950s gas station.. that's open and unlocked for anyone or anything. Not safe. Fortunately, they were clean. Looks like the locals like for take out. One of the three sandwich / burger options did not come with a side, which was weird. So I had to order an appetizer for my teenager to make sure he had more than a burger.

This time I tried their brisket burger because a friend really recommended it. While it's better than a fast food chain burger, it's not better than another local burger just down the road. It's only more expensive. Also, the only place I'Ve ever paid for tap water. Although you get to put it into a glass jar with a handle.

Wow! We finally made it by The Boneyard for lunch and enjoyed it so much we ordered takeout for dinner. Will be back and back again. Great to have this quality addition to Siler City!

The original Smithfield's was opened in Smithfield in 1977, with the Clayton operation beginning in 1979. Since then the restaurant has greatly expanded across the state, now totaling 41, with the 2 furtherest west being in Greensboro and Charlotte. Over the years, I've eaten at perhaps half of the Smithfield locations, and have rarely been disappointed, and in the few where I was, it centered on the service, not the food. As with so much in the restaurant area, things have changed and will surely continue to change with pork barbecue in North Carolina, reflecting changing tastes and changing processes. For example, fewer and fewer cooked over hardwood coals, and very few cook the whole hog - in fact, I think there are only 4 (all in the east) that still do - Skylight Inn, B's, Grady's, and The Pit. Smithfield very much mirrors the changing nature of NC BBQ over the last 30 years or so. The pork bbq for ALL locations is cooked in Smithfield and then shipped to the various locations. Obviously, what you get is less than just off the rack fresh. Still, if I'm close, then a pop in for a combo of bbq and chicken works. I like their slaw. the hush puppies are fair at best, the hot dog totally sucks, and the Chicken Tender Sandwich is really, really good! Don't consider this a destination bbq spot, but I will still go from time to time if driving by. There is some bad bbq sold in NC, but it is most often found at a grocery store or a convenience store - if it has gas pumps keep moving!

Typical Lexington BBQ, which is fine, I guess, if you're into that. I do not like it at all. The bun was soggy. The fries were undercooked. They do have the nice crunchy ice, though.

I have run across 3 version of their pork barbecue (there may be more). 2 Pulled Pork varieties - one in their Original Carolina BBQ Sauce (vinegar based, supposedly Eastern style) and one with a Tangy Tomato Sauce (their Western style sauce). Both are very, very smokey and the texture is not bad for pulled pork - a little stringy, but not dry knots like some. Neither sauce is memorable, very weak versions of the ones made in house in good barbecue joints offering either style. You know immediately that this is a commercial product, prepared and packaged in bulk - and if you've bought a BBQ sandwich in a non-BBQ joint, you've encountered its ilk. The 3rd version I found is definitely not pulled pork - it is minced, and minced again, to the point of having an appearance and texture of a smokey pork pudding. This is not barbecued pork in any form I've ever encountered.
