Let me first start with the good, the cook on the brisket was very good not a dry piece on the plate. Friendly people. Place was clean. Now let me get to the heart of this place, all the meat and sides needed more seasoning, more oomph! I would title this place almost there or going in the right direction just needs more oomph to their food. BBQ sauce was a little thick but again has a good base. Also, fix your soda machine or get rid of it and sell individual cans or bottles. I know running a restaurant isn't cheap but having 3 of 6 options out of order isn't a good selling point. Especially when the out of order signs show how long they have been out. Again this place has a good base just needs to take it up to great. read more

They were very kind and had everything ready. They included extra bbq sauce & toppings. The only complaints I'd have is the meat was all piled in one container. We ordered a variety of 5lbs and the Mac and cheese was so dry no one ate it, they also only included a few slices of bread. For the price I would've expected better quality. read more

I at least want to give this a 2 star rating for the staff but I can't bring myself to do it with how extremely bad the food is here. The other reviews saying this is good bbq, either have never had good bbq or they have no taste buds. There wasn't anybody there when we pulled up, but I figured it was because it was an early Thursday night. Nope, not the case here. I think the true locals know this place is bad. The staff was extremely nice! The food on the other hand was so bad. We barely touched our food and pretty much threw everything away. Even the sides were sour and tasted bad. The sides and bbq sauce tasted like they had been sitting there all day or even multiple days, which I'm probably right. The meat was discolored and was very dry and didn't taste good. I honestly don't know how this place hasn't gone out of business. Anybody reading my review, take mine seriously and do not even entertain the other reviews. Some of these best BBQ I've ever had! The atmosphere is a real ole school style vibe. You walk in there and the smoky aroma of excellent bbq will hypnotize you. A huge menu, portions are awesome, and amazingly priced! The ladies that helped me were super nice, great conversation about bbq! I had the three meat. The meat does not need sauce at all but when you add the sauce, it's even better and didn't think that was possible. Brisket was tender, potato salad and cowboy beans are amazing. I didn't order any but I did get a sample of the smoked cabbage and it can't be beat! Sleep on it if you want to and you will regret it! This place is awesome!! read more

Wow! The BBQ was fantastic - so full of flavor and the prices were very reasonable. Shorty's lunch special is a sandwich, chips and a drink for $8.99. My husband and I shared a 3 meat plate with ribs, sliced brisket and chicken with 2 sides (BBQ gumbo and cooked cabbage). They don't skimp on the meat and it was so juicy! The rub on the ribs was sweet and tangy and there was a ton of meat in the gumbo. I think our total was just over $14 and there was more than enough food! We left with very full bellies!! They have catfish on Friday and Saturday nights and I'm sure it is just as delicious. The servers were also super friendly. My only complaint is that it's not closer to North Dallas (where I live)! ;). If you're passing thru, I highly recommend stopping!! read more

I have lived in the area of Seagoville for close to 40yrs. I am not much to eat out because I think of myself as a pretty good cook and I am not much a BBQ sauce lover, either. To say the least, I am pretty hard critic of any restaurant. I also never go to the point of writing a review, but it was hard not to in this case. I went in for the first time.... a true country feel. They have Rock Christian music playing and there is a Bibles on every table...how refreshing in light of what this country is going through but after reading their story, no wonder their faith in Family, God & Country to get them through the hard times, as well as, the good. I got the ribs & chopped brisket, tender & very good flavor and I didn't need the BBQ sauce, perfect. Pricing was very reasonable. I had their Cole slaw & green beans. Saved me from cooking that night but I had left overs with the ribs that I made breakfast with fried Golden potatoes, chopped green onions & scrambled eggs over shredded rib meat & then layered a Colby cheese over it. My husband and I stopped here for a takeout just a few minutes before they were closing up. The staff could not have been nicer and the food could not have been better. The pulled pork was honestly the best I have ever tasted. There are loads of tasty sides to choose from, great slaw and the bbq sauce is delicious.
