The stuffed baked potato is loaded with brisket and HUGE! Don't skip out on the Mesquite popper - it's a bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeño and it has spinach in it so it's healthy right? Didn't try any of the desserts but they say that they're house made so hopefully delicious. I stopped in to purchase a container of "chop chop " to satisfy a craving for a BBQ sandwich. They told me if I buy one pound I could get a second for a little over $5. I left with 2 pounds of chopped bbq for about $20. At most BBQ places a single skimpy sandwich is $10. The texture of the meat and flavor were a perfect blend of smoky goodness. The leftover meat was not greasy after sitting in the fridge overnight. I will definitely purchase this again not just for the price but for the excellent flavor of the meat. read more

I used to live in Mesquite 14 years ago and ate here often. I went back for the first time in many years. I had the 2 meat plate with sausage, brisket, potato salad, macaroni and cheese and a jalapeño popper. Brisket melts like butter, jalapeño is stuffed with chicken and cheese and a little spinach. Visiting Mesquite Texas? Ya gotta try Texas bbq! This place has been here since 1959 (just in case you're unaware). Easy to find and parking available. A variety of food combos to order with a variety of meat selections. I went the 2 meat combo and grabbed the brisket and ribs. No regrets! (Okay, my only regret is not upgrading to 3 meats for another $1 and adding the pulled pork). But a friend had it so we did a trade so alls well that ends well. Reasonably priced too. First time ordering from this establishment I ordered the turkey sandwich with load baked potato and sandwich were a nice size. Plenty slices of turkey between the buns. I decided to try the ssandwich first as I picked the sandwich up I smelled gasoline. I took a small bite . I decided to try the potato it was decent. Roughly 5 minutes later I didn't feel well. Went to bed to lie down about 1 minute later I popped up and began to throw up. Been Living in Mesquite for close to 17 years now and this was my first time trying this place. Right off the bat the menu is easy to understan/order. Prices are a bit high but based off quality of food and service provided this is solid. If you want cheap theres a mcdonalds down the road. All the meats were super good and love that they have condiment baskets on the table. Speaking of, their BBQ sauce is amazing, i dislike going to BBQ places and seeing their sauce too watery, anytime you see BBQ too watery thats a tell tell sign that is NOT good BBQ sauce, this place NAILS it. Baked beans are good as well they are not too sweet and mac and cheese was my personal favorite. Same deal, too watery of a mac and cheese is never a good sign. Fries surprised me that they were home made, good portions too. Everything you see in the picture + drink was maybe like 40$. Good price point, good service, great food. read more

I found out about this restaurant via google search of local Mesquite BBQ restaurants. Never tried Mesquite BBQ so I was really excited! I almost shed a tear when I ate my '1 meat Plate' with macaroni & cheese & potato salad of how delicious it was. I ordered the chicken: it was so tender and good! Everything was super delish! Absolutely superb!!! The first bbq we stopped at visiting Texas. I lived in the area when I much younger. Nickolas was great ! He took a few minutes to chat with me about some of the areas that I was trying to remember about my time there . The rest of the staff were all super friendly as well . The food was cooked to perfection ! Fall off of the born ribs, moist chicken and the brisket was so tender. Food had amazing flavor. The price is on point for the amount of that you get. To me Mesquite BBQ pretty much embodies what Texas is all about: A comfortable place with nice folks with the delicious aroma of smoked meats floating through the air. Mix that with easy listening music from country to Fleetwood Mac & I believe I heard Selena a little earlier. This is a cozy place where you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. I had the 3 meat plate with pulled pork, Chop Chop & sausage. Pickles & onions can be picked up at the cash register. No plates that I saw but a metal tray with cutting paper to hold your selection and then placed on top of a plastic tray to carry to your table. My selection came with two sides & I went with potato salad & coleslaw. Both delicious & both served in styrofoam bowls. They have everything from your meat selections to stuffed baked potatoes, frito pie and sandwiches. This was a nice visit & I highly recommend stopping by. The staff is fantastic & polite. Extremely polite. While sitting at my table I was asked no less than four times if everything was ok & if I needed a refill. Just really nice folks. If there is a complaint it's this: The Hallmark Channel was playing on the tv overhead. The sound was off but I know for the fact that Jessica went back to the small town she wrote about for the magazine she works for because of the guy she met for a brief time while she was there and now she can't stop thinking about him. Mesquite BBQ has been open for over 50 years, and they're still making excellent BBQ. I eat here pretty frequently, and I'm never disappointed. The service is always quick and friendly. The dining area is pretty small, and it fills up quickly at lunch, so many people get take-out. The BBQ is really good! I also like to get the baked potato topped with meat. Their homemade desserts are delicious if you manage to save room. read more

Stopped by Mesquite BBQ since it seemed like a crime to be in Mesquite and not try some smoked meats in the area- this spot was everything I was hoping for and more. We got a 2 meat platter with pork ribs and brisket, which came with 2 sides and Texas toast (we chose fried okra and mac & cheese). The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and so flavorful they didn't need extra sauce! The brisket? Melted in our mouths, with incredibly delicious bark. We liked the fried okra, the mac was just alright, but we weren't there for the sides anyway. You order after lining up and pay at the register, then sit down anywhere. The ladies at the counter were friendly and helpful when we asked for their recommendations- all the desserts are made in-house and they recommended the banana pudding, which was so yummy! The space itself is comfortable and welcoming, and for out-of-towners like myself, a great slice of life in Texas with all the articles and jerseys celebrating the Mesquite Skeeters, the local high school football team- it felt very Friday Night Lights. The walls are full of "Best Of" and "Reader's Choice" awards, and it's easy to see why from how wonderful the food is and the atmosphere overall. I live in Irving and I am rarely on this side of town but I feel like I have found a gem on the east side of Dallas. This B-B-Q restaurant off Main Street mesquite was delicious and checked all my B-B-Q boxes. The restaurant was clean and covered in different types of memorabilia. The servers were friendly and worked to please. My son doesn't like fatty meat but the server told him it would taste better and would chop it so he couldn't tell. My son loved it. Pricing is ridiculous. $3.99 for the smallest drink is crazy. Tea is just flavored water. $9.99 for only a sandwich. Staff was very friendly. Probably because they knew how bad they were taking advantage. BBQ is BBQ nothing special or extraordinary. Fries were the bottom of the barrel. More like potato bits. Cole slaw was dry. I ordered two plates, one rib plate and one pulled pork sandwich plate. Baked beans on both and one with potato salad, the other with fries. My ribs were phenomenal! They looked good from the start, meaty and fall off the bone tender. But the flavor! So well seasoned that I didn't even need sauce, and I love a good sweet and spicy sauce! And although I'm not really a brisket fan, they threw in a sample that was amazing! I'm going back for brisket! As for the sides, the baked beans were just pretty good, I've had better, truthfully. But the potato salad was ON POINT! Absolutely delicious! The pulled pork sandwich was really good too, respectfully.
