We were passing through this area and needed gas, so we stopped at this location and got barbecue as well. There was about a 6min wait to order, which wasn't bad. I noticed people were ordering the brisket sandwich, so that was a true win for me! The brisket sandwich was juicy and had a nice smoky barbecue taste, which I enjoyed. The ribs were so tender they were falling off the bone. So far I think this place offers real Texas barbecue. The sauce was even good with a sweet smoky tangy taste. Next time I'll try the Broccoli Salad and the turkey Pasta and see what other menu options satisfy my taste buds. You should definitely give this barbecue spot a try. Just another down-home place off the beaten path. My dad brought me here a few times so this B-B-Q has some sentimental value. Yep, just good ole southern B-B-Q joint with all the tradition sides like Mac n' Cheese and Green Beans. Plus, I catch the feeling from the smell in the air and the quality of food that this place has the ability to compete with the monopoly chains like Dickeys. Interior gives me the "Proud Texan" vibe which is almost near to impossible to not take seriously and not as a cliche in a convenient store-gas station environment BUT somehow they seem to pull it off. One reason I think this place goes so hard on the "Don't Mess With Texas" interior is for tourist or passersby coming into the city off of Highway 20. The hubs and I stopped by for lunch on a Friday afternoon. There was no wait and plenty of room to sit, plus the Sonic counter is right there, so the nugget was happy. This restaurant is inside a gas station but not your standard scary to touch anything side of the road gas station. This place is REALLY nice inside, nice decorations, clean, and all that good stuff. The hubs got ribs, mashed potatoes, corn, and broccoli salad. He liked everything except the broccoli salad. Moving forward. 1- no hint of smoke smell inside, and no sign of a smoke ring on my DRY brisket. It was just brown. It didnt taste fresh either. Very easy to believe this was either sitting in a warming oven all day or reheated from a leftover day old brisket. It was flavorless. I usually dont like a lot of sauce but this needed it. 2- i get that its a gas station, but dont charge like youre pecan lodge when you truly are gas station quality. SERIOUSLY, Bucee's is 10 min away and their premade sandwiches are better, faster and cheaper. 3- sides are actually the better part of the meal. I was pretty pleased with the fried okra and mashed potatoes. The roasted potatoes had so much rosemary they were almost inedible. The green beans were greasy but tasty. If you need a quick bbq lunch and this is the only thing time allows, you wont die. If you have any extra time, drive into mesquite and go to dickies, spring creek or soulmans. All of those are better choices for the same $$ ( or less) and actually resemble bbq. We make a habit of stopping at Exit 482 on I-20 to have BBQ at Texas Best Smokehouse! When we order 'chopped beef' at any other BBQ place, it has way too much fat in it. At Texas Best Smokehouse, they trim all the fat off BEFORE they chop the 'individually-wrapped piece of BBQ'. Some of the reviews we read must be from people who don't really know what BBQ is suppose to be like...too much sauce, not enough sauce, and on and on. Here they let you get your own sauce and put on what you want. Did they not see the sauce in the condiment area? The restrooms are always clean. Lots of souvenir things to buy. If you're ever 'out west' on I-20, take Exit 386 Hwy 281 and go a short way to Maverick's for some good food also. It's kind of the same place as Texas Best Smokehouse. Enjoy Texas' food! I am not a fan of gas station restaurants, but Texas Best Smokehouse was amazing. The meat was tender, and the sauce was amazing. In far SE Dallas, in the area I was, there aren't that many places to choose from for a quick lunch. And being that I am a Texan BBQ always sounds great. So we came up here and got a great surprise. For a chain place located in a travel stop gas station the BBQ was SOLID! I got the chopped beer and spicy sausage, both were tender and flavorful. My sides were broccoli salad and roasted potatoes, both were also great. The broccoli salad was crisp and not to watery and the roasted potatoes had a nice crunchy to the outside but a soft center. Me and my husband recently moved to Seagoville TX. We came across this convenience store truck store at our exit off the highway with a Texas best bbq inside it the staff was extremely friendly and the food was great and we come in every other week for dinner. Well my husbands truck broke down and he had to walk 12 miles home he stopped in and asked for a water glass and they didnt have any instead they brought him a water bottle my husband explained he didnt have any money as I had it all and I was at work they told him not to worry about it and even brought him a bbq sandwich and took great care of him. I went back later on to pay for his water and sandwich and they told me it was no charge, that is awesome customer service im in there debt forever thanks guys. read more
