We've had five sessions so far and in those five sessions, along with the homework that I gladly do, I have helped my dog be more controlled on the leash and be more controlled and regulated at home. She's more comfortable and more confident now than she was when I got her. Even though I know the work isn't over, I'm confident knowing that I have Drea to help me and to inform me on best practices. He's a 2 year old American Staffie/Basset Hound/Chow/Terrier mix from Florida--a sweet, cuddly, goofy, hunk. Otis was SO ready to be loved and properly cared for, but as he settled into his new home it became clear he had never been socialized, showed physical and emotional signs of severe abuse, and had major anxiety/fear of strangers. We felt in over our heads, and worried Otis might harm someone out of fear (no fault of his own) but felt committed to giving Otis every chance we could to thrive. We found Drea on Yelp and were drawn to her experience with rescue dogs in particular. We contacted her right away and had an appointment set up within days. Drea came to our apartment to meet us and Otis and it instantly felt like the stars had aligned. She had total confidence upon meeting him-- no fear, and a great openness and connection with him and us. The first thing she said when she met Otis was "ok, you guys got yourself a real southern hound!" We knew we had found the right person. Drea observed right from the start that Otis is a pack dog and how important it was going to be for us to grow his pack and take steps to build both his and our confidence. Drea's training method focuses on the role that both owner and pet play and how those roles need to be established and reinforced through commitment, repetition, and positive motivation as the key drivers of success. Over the last 10 months we've learned how to use our voices, bodies and body language to do everything from solidifying Otis' basic obedience skills to being able to take Otis and ourselves out of our comfort zones and introduce new people, places and experiences into our lives. The results are tangible--a traumatized rescue who used to cower and tuck his tail between his legs on walks now barks with enthusiasm to go outside and wags his upright tail like a helicopter. Otis' behavior with, and fear of strangers is also noticeably different. His default reaction used to be aggression, but he's learned to control those urges, be calm and put his trust in us that all is okay. While we and Otis still have work ahead of us, the tools Drea has and continues to give us have provided invaluable confidence, patience, and a keen understanding of what it means, and what's needed to own and love a rescue pup. We couldn't love our Otis more and we are so grateful to Drea and know she will be a part of our pack for the long haul.

I was desperate to resolve this behavior. I loved him. After spending about 20 minutes with him (and he showed absolutely no aggression) Christine told me that he was "damaged" and I should euthanize him or put him in a shelter. Or keep using her to train him (her first visit I believe was $600). She told me I needed to get some sort of pad for my couch with prong type things that would keep him off the couch. I was not allowed to have him on the bed or get on the floor with him. No interaction. Still, her recco at not even 1 year old was euthanize or shelter. There was clearly a problem but she had not even witnessed that behavior. I told her I was going through a very traumatic time and didn't take him out enough or exercise him enough and he only displayed that behavior with me. I rehomed him to a wonderful family in my building who had another dog and they are obsessed with each other. In fact, the other dog is a Chihuahua and he's in charge! They take them out all the time. In fact, they took both dogs to Greece for two weeks to see family. They could have left the dogs with friends or boarded them. Instead they got all the paperwork done in advance and paid extra to have the dogs sit on their laps the whole way. He is SO happy.My doormen see him often and they tell me he's always happy. When I see him he gets excited and comes over but wants to go off with his new mommy and brother. I've spoken to them. It's been about 9 months and not one incident. It was clearly not the right fit at this time in my life. I could not give him what he needed.. Had I listened to her, he'd be in a tiny cage in a shelter or not alive any more. She spent 10 minutes on praising herself that very few people do what she does. That they claim they do but she has all of these degrees. I still love him and miss him. But it all worked out and he's one well-behaved, very loved pup. And THAT is what matters. I very very rarely write a review and they have been positive. I am not writing this to bash her. I'm writing this to make sure you do not use her to assess or train your dog, for your dog's sake and yours. Please. I love dogs so much. It kills me to think of her telling someone else that their dog is "damaged" and listening to her advice.

My wife and I adopted a beautiful fourteen-month-old mixed breed (Staffordshire Terrier likely),…read morethe first week of April and named him Dylan. We decided that we needed a trainer quickly. Dylan has obvious behavioral issues as well as a very affectionate side and we committed to helping him. Upon research, we decided to try Christina Shusterich of NY Clever K9 based on what we had seen of her professional education, certifications and experience found on-line. Her consultation fee was $399.00 plus a $225.00 security deposit (per 1.25 hrs. sessions) if cancelling the scheduled appointment closer than forty-eight hours (+Tx). My wife had spoken with Christina who then suggested email would be the best method of communication. The first step was to complete her questionnaire and schedule and assessment. The first flag was that we quickly discovered her time to be very tightly metered. Our thoughts was to show Christina the major triggers causing hyperactivity and aggressive behavior that occurs during walks. Those triggers were most evident during busy periods of the day (excited kids, joggers, bicyclists and so on). Christina made clear that her weekly schedule is developed on Sundays and distributed to her clients. For the consultation, our first meeting was given to us as Friday evening at 7:00 PM (had we proceeded following the consultation, the second visit would have been 7:45 PM). Upon arrival we opened our door to Christina who proceeded to instruct us (to hold Dlyan back on a short leash, and how she'll be doing some strange things like sticking out her tongue). The entire visit I was asked to hold back Dylan on the leash which I personally found a bit unusual for seasoned trainer but complied. Christina made clear that payment must be made immediately in cash or through Zelle at completion of each session. During the consultation meeting Christina provided a number of white-papers (reading dogs postures and other), and discussed potential behavioral reasons and a few points of regarding her "system". I was filled with questions and Christina stated that asking these questions only takes away from the time she can instruct us. I really didn't hear much during that meeting that left me feeling confident and felt the questions were necessary. Christina's time outside with Dylan was the extent of walking her to her car, and still on the leash. Following that meeting my wife and I were left feeling a bit baffled about what Christina would be doing and whether to proceed or not. I then emailed Christina stating that I would setup a shared-directory and deposit phone videos and log demonstrating our concerns, since questions seemed to be too time consuming. Christina's response was that she would not have time to review any such information that we send between session. My wife and decided that despite all her credentials this was not going to work and cancelled our relationship. Christina did return our security deposit of $225.00 (+Tx.).

Stacey's heart is in the right place but she served us terribly. I have used her twice. Once with a…read morefearful dog. Stacey's training worked fine in that case but I decided to try something new. She responded unprofessionally. Here service is expensive but enticing because she offers to train the dog with no work on your part. The second time, we adopted a puppy. After a week he started biting. Stacey assured us that she could help. So we kept the dog for a year, spending thousands of dollars with Stacey. Then our dog walker refused to walk our dog anymore because he was too dangerous which means we, a family with two young children definitely should not keep him. Stacey responded very badly. She was defensive and tried to get us to pay her more money to retrain the dog and was really rude about it. I regret using her. Without her bad advice the dog would have been sent back within a week saving all parties (especially the dog) a bad experience. I highly recommend you stay away.

I have only had one evaluation so far so I'll be back for a follow-up…read more I have a rescued pit-mix who has some issues so I called WWW for an evaluation, thinking I'd take her to the Growl Class, a special class for naughty dogs. Stacy and an assistant met with me and my dog Cola for 90 minutes, watching her with other dogs and asking very detailed questions. I was impressed with her methodical attention to detail and seemingly no-bullsh*t manner. She asked me what my goals were and told me what Cola and I would need to do to reach those goals. She said Cola could probably do a regular obedience class even though she has some leash aggression, which was good to hear. But Stacy assured me she was being honest and not just telling me what I wanted to hear. On the downside, she doesn't come to Brooklyn so it's kind of a treck but we loved the 2 plus hour walk home over the bridge! Also it's QUITE pricey for an evaluation but so far I think it's worth it.

To say I recommend Supreme K9 is a massive understatement…read more My one-year-old cattle dog Saoirse is an overwhelmingly loving pup to humans. To other dogs, though? Not so much. When I brought Saoirse to Supreme K9, I was a bit apprehensive, concerned about their methods, the level of success, and whether or not she would return a different dog (I was worried she wouldn't be the same). We initially chose the four-week program and after the second day, I noticed a certain level of obedience that wasn't there before. She already knew your standard commands like "sit" and "come" but getting her to stay still was a challenge. But I noticed an improvement immediately. Unlike most dog training facilities who largely keep you in the dark, one of the most helpful aspects of their strategy is to document their training sessions on Instagram reels where you can watch your dog in class every day. Our main trainer Dina (who is AWESOME) documented her training session with Saoirse almost hourly, so I got to watch their methods, how my pup reacted, and how much she learned daily. I got to learn the commands they used and got to watch in real time my dog transform. We ended up extending the four-week program to six-weeks to allow for even more training. The one-hour weekly owner/dog/trainer sessions were extremely helpful too, training ME how to work with my dog.. not order her around but work WITH her. They gave me all the tools I needed to help my dog continue her path. Once our six week program ended, I have my pup Saoirse back... still the same pup but with a LOT less reactivity toward other dogs... and I myself have learned many techniques and methods to keep her focused and obedient. I can't recommend them enough. Dina, Otto, Evan, Katie, Brian, Artemis... the whole team are amazing to work with and MASSIVELY recommended.

I rescued a very skittish dog named Lucy and attempted to use Rikke to help build her confidence…read more When she arrived, Rikke successfully told me what breed of dog I had. And that was the only success of the session. Lucy was terrified of her, more terrified than I've ever seen her with anyone inside or outside my home. Maybe she was reacting to Rikke's negative energy, as it seems Rikke's extensive work with skittish dogs seems to have made her reactionary toward any fear behavior. Rikke implied that my rescue agency misled me and that the situation with Lucy was dire, extraordinarily difficult and would take years to correct. 2 hours and $150 later, Rikke left me feeling depressed and anxious. Fortunately, after a good night's rest I came to my senses and did the exact OPPOSITE of everything Rikke suggested. Lucy's skittishness has improved amazingly fast and she's gaining confidence every day as she meets new people and dogs. If I had listened to Rikke, I would have kept poor Lucy cooped up in the house and she would have been miserable and scared her entire life. On top of that, I've had people in my home since the training session and, after initial nerves, Lucy calms down enough to even sleep around them...a state she NEVER got to with Rikke around. Rikke was fair in that she didn't try to rip me off by scheduling more sessions when Lucy wouldn't even get near her. However, $150 is a lot to pay just to learn what breed your dog is.

We scheduled our second session and said goodbye. We subsequently had to reschedule that session, and this is when the problems began. Rikke didn't return phone calls, text messages or emails. She still owes us over $300 for the sessions she didn't provide and we are filing a small claim against her. Rikke seems like a nice person and good trainer upon meeting, but the way she manages her business has proven incredibly frustrating and disappointing.

While he is pretty much a perfect pup, he has a bit of aggression towards men that come into my apartment, which included my dad on one occasion as well as my uncle and building super. I had a one-on-one with Mark at my apartment, and I actually came across him in his van on the way back from our walk, waiting for our appointment time. We walked back to my apartment and there he asked a bunch of questions and got to know Hammy, and Ham loved him! Mark explained that it was because they had met outside first and then proceeded into the apartment afterwards, while Mark ignored him the whole time they were outside. He spent nearly 2 hours with me, and we took Ham on a walk where he impressed Mark with how good of a walker he is! My parents actually visited the next day for Easter, and Mark gave me the best way to re-introduce my dad- away from the apartment, while ignoring him. It worked! While their last interaction was filled with barking, snapping, and growling (from Ham, not my dad), as soon as we got back to the apartment, Hamlet was all over my dad with affection. (I included a picture and that's my dad's lap that Hamlet is sitting on!) I now feel like I have the right tools to introduce Hamlet to men in the future and to make sure he is comfortable with them.
