He ultimately had a degenerative brain disease which explained his behavior and matched what the trainers had been seeing. Instinct not only has experience with difficult cases but they specialize in them. I learned more than I thought possible through them. They saw the best in my boy and have helped me heal. Yes, this is pricy, relatively speaking- yes, results may not be instant; yes, the trainers will be honest with you about your dog and the dynamics in your life that may be impacting things. The idea is to coach the owner while training the dog so that the frequency and intensity of training decreases over time, thus the price not only goes down over time but pays itself back on feelings of confidence, safety, and in having a team to back you up for life. I would hope that pet insurance is something that owners have looked into. Trupanion in particular has an excellent behavioral package. Unfortunately adopting a dog is not as simple as "with a good home and love, any dog can become a wonderful pet." Genetics and upbringing have to with it. Places like Instinct understand this and are essential and unique. They don't shame their owners or judge the dogs, it is what it is, and what a relief to have an outside pair of eyes help out, because as everyone reading this knows, by the time you look for a place like this you're feeling emotionally spent, scared, and hopeless already. We traveled hours to get there and don't regret a second of it.

We left our dog for 30 mins and chose to return to pick him up as he was left in a very unsafe, cramped and dangerous situation. I will never work with them, and encourage everyone thinking about using them to stay far away if you care about your pet. Money hungry, dog abusing capitalists.

In our second visit, she helped my dog play on a leash, something I spent 3 weeks practicing with absolutely NO success. Ever since our second session, he has been happy with his leash and well behaved. This review really sounds too good to be true and I wouldn't believe it either if I read it. But I shit you not, this is not some snake oil salesman scheme to get you to spend money on a dog therapist (hell, you probably don't even spend money on your own therapist, am I right??) Fast forward several sessions and now he plays outside, stopped eating his poops, doesn't even try to eat other poops on the sidewalk, climbs the stairs, and even puts himself to bed for nap time. What a good boy! While he isn't perfect, and he requires A LOT of human effort, he's doing much better than anyone ever expected from a little guy born with so many major issues/disabilities.

When I brought Saoirse to Supreme K9, I was a bit apprehensive, concerned about their methods, the level of success, and whether or not she would return a different dog (I was worried she wouldn't be the same). We initially chose the four-week program and after the second day, I noticed a certain level of obedience that wasn't there before. She already knew your standard commands like "sit" and "come" but getting her to stay still was a challenge. But I noticed an improvement immediately. Unlike most dog training facilities who largely keep you in the dark, one of the most helpful aspects of their strategy is to document their training sessions on Instagram reels where you can watch your dog in class every day. Our main trainer Dina (who is AWESOME) documented her training session with Saoirse almost hourly, so I got to watch their methods, how my pup reacted, and how much she learned daily. I got to learn the commands they used and got to watch in real time my dog transform. We ended up extending the four-week program to six-weeks to allow for even more training. The one-hour weekly owner/dog/trainer sessions were extremely helpful too, training ME how to work with my dog.. not order her around but work WITH her. They gave me all the tools I needed to help my dog continue her path. Once our six week program ended, I have my pup Saoirse back... still the same pup but with a LOT less reactivity toward other dogs... and I myself have learned many techniques and methods to keep her focused and obedient.
