Full Review: I bought my first car over 20 years ago. Having a father that worked for General Motors for 40 years allows me to use his GM Employee Discount. This means I don't have to haggle on price. It also means the only haggle is on vehicle Trade in Price and customer service. I'm not going to name names here, but I have been to several other GM dealers across Michigan and Iowa and this past Friday I received the BEST customer service I've ever had. I was treated with respect, I was treated as if I was the only customer in the showroom (and 2 hours after they closed and we were finishing up the sale, my wife and I literally were the only customers, and no matter how much we apologized for keeping everyone late on a Friday night, no one grumbled, no one complained, and no one rushed us), and I was treated like Shottenkirk wanted to actually serve me the best option for me and my wife, not sell me the best for their profit margins. I used to work in High End sales before I got into Government Management. I can tell you that most sales person's will say what needs to be said to close the deal in their favor. It's how business works. However, the truly Elite Sales Person will actually listen to the customer, and make the deal that benefits both parties. I believe that Dave at Shottenkirk and Paul the Sales General Manager are truly Elite. My wife and I came in on Friday with some reservations on getting a new car. Do we wait, do we buy now, etc. Shottenkirk allowed us time to talk together alone, time to ask questions, and time to think. We were targeting the 2017 Malibu, but our family could not afford the Premiere Edition with the 2.0L Turbo. The other option is the 1.5L Turbo but I declined that motor due to the concerns of them melting and cracking pistons with very few miles. Dave was ready to address my concerns. Instead of trying to sell me on the higher priced car or trying to convince me of the quality of the motor, he took me back to Service to talk with his best Technician. I privately discussed with Matt (The Technician) and after realizing that he is very good at what he does and very knowledgeable he assured me that Chevrolet had a recall on the motor and had a solution to the issue and the 2017 versions did not have this problem. He then assured me that if there was a problem they are here for me to make it right. I can promise you Matt isn't getting any commission off the sale of this car as I have friends that are Service Techs and Mechanics. Being a car guy and son of a mechanic I know when someone doesn't know what they are saying. This was not the case with Matt. I have bought 6 new cars in my life (and countless used), and I have never once had an experience like I did with Shottenkirk with so many positives. Before we bought my wife and I were still very much on the fence. We don't want to put our family in a financial tough spot, but we need a more family car that is reliable. Josh and Dave sensed our struggle and asked what they could do to swing the favor on our side to make it a better deal for us. I can't even say it was a negotiation. We honestly shared our comfort zone and they met us at our comfort zone. Actually they went even lower than our comfort zone in order to provide us the best deal they could. We now have bought 2 cars from Shottenkirk in the last year. It will be a while before we have to buy another car, but it won't be a while before we go back to see our new friends and Shottenkirk Family. read more

This is the 3rd car I have purchased form this dealer and I have to say that I will never buy from any were else! My sales guy Jared Shields went way above and beyond with finding me an even better deal then I ever would have thought to even taking time to buy my kids snacks out of the venting machine out of his own pocket. Thanks Doug DeYarman, Managing Partner for reminding me there are other places to leave reviews. Went to Shottenkirk to test drive a Chevrolet High Country. Tiffany (sales person) knew I was on my way but when I arrived she could not be found. I tried to call her and no answer. One of her sales associates (Derek) tried to text her and no response. So I stand outside waiting for 20 minutes and when she finally shows up she wants me to come in and sign papers before I test drive a used vehicle "because that is Shottenkirks policy". I immediately left without a test drive. I bought a 2017 High Country from Karl Chevrolet. Thank you Kyle Kocak for not making me feel like a criminal and your polite service and great pricing. My recommendation is avoid Shottenkirk and call Kyle at Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny. For those that dont know, Karl is the #1 certified preowned dealer in the US, 10 years running. I've been trying to reach these people for over two weeks no one ever returned my phone calls no one ever knows anything and this is been going on for probably a couple months now first I needed my headrest fixed they said they'd order the part they never called me back never told me anything and then now I am still over a month without a car title that they told me that they sent out and they didn't now I'm spending a week trying to get someone to call me back promises they will and they never do. I'm only writing this review it in hopes that maybe someone can contact me or call me back and let me know what's going on with my car title I don't know what else to do at this point besides write a review I've spent $15,000 with these people for my truck and now I got another car that I bought from them that I just would like to be done with the situation please read more

My experience with this dealership is twice as good. I went there with my daughter because she was looking for something new. Our friend, Boomer, listened to her needs, wants and likes and dislikes. He talked about options and brought out the car that my daughter ended up leasing. It was amazing. They treated her wonderfully. The next week we had to go back out to get items from my daughters old car, and talked to Boomer again, and I happened to walk out with a brand new Chevy Trax! It was time that I traded in my old car, which was in great shape, but I was ready for something new. The assistance we received while buying our vehicles was awesome! I worked with Cory Tass at Shottenkirk Chevrolet in Waukee. This was the best experience I have had when purchasing a new car. I ordered the vehicle with a refundable $500 deposit and Cory kept me posted throughout the delivery process. The vehicle I ordered is a newly designed model and in high demand. Other Chevrolet dealerships were not able to secure this vehicle and did not have any in their pipeline. I received a minimum of 1x per week text status update on the location of the vehicle from Cory. When the vehicle arrived (in the timeline we were promised), we handled the transaction that same day. I had a great experience with this dealer!! I am a woman & was very worried about going to a car dealership by myself. I ended up being very satisfied with everything from the first time I walked on the lot, to the final sale. My salesman was very knowledgable.. even remembering to tell me things that I had forgotten to ask. He was very thorough and there was no high pressure sales whatsoever.. which I was very happy about. The owner wanted to make sure I was completely satisfied. I have always bought from Shottenkirk. I always pay cash so they are willing to negotiate. Well I have no clue what happened. I am ready to buy again, and they are like ya we can give you 500 off. I am like really?? I am paying you 30k and you cant do better than 500. Any other time it was way more than that like thousands!!! I simply asked for 4k off bc im paying cash!!! and they wont. Did I mention I've always recommended them. I got several friends and family members to purchase from them. And I live 4.5 Hours away! I will move on. I went in to get my oil changed and my 1 year check up. My overall experience was GREAT . The wait was over 1/2 hour but in that time I was comfortable in the waiting room where they had beverages and snacks and FREE WIFI!. They also has a large room for my daughter to play. In the time I waited people were available to answer questions about my lease and getting another vechicle. The service was amazing. My vechicle returned to me in better condition then I left it and I was given a gift receipt for a carwash. I have absolutely no complaints. I did not purchase my vehicle from Shottenkirk as I has a Dodge but I was recommended to their service department for all my upkeep on my vehicle and have yet to be disappointed! Not only is the service quick (even when they're quite busy) but it's done well. The staff are very friendly and speak to me by name, not by my cars make and model. And you can't beat the price! To get an oil change, a tire rotation, the interior vacuumed and a 27 pt. inspection for the price they charge is pretty extraordinary. I highly recommend Shottenkirk! I brought in my Avalanche for oil change, tire rotation, new windshield wipers and the rear tire had a nail. All work was completed within 2 hours in which I used to work in the wait area - great to have internet! I was able to finish my payroll, answer emails, complete my fall scheduling and more. I found Shottenkirk on an internet search because I was interested in test driving a Chevy Volt. I was contacted the same day by Dave in internet sales. Dave was friendly and fun to work with. I knew as soon as got behind the wheel of the Volt that it would be my next car. The Prius and Leaf were the other cars I was interested in, but the volt was much more entertaining! We bought a brand new Silverado for myself in 2011 and a Brand new Malibu for my wife this year at Shottenkirk and both purchasing processes have gone well. I ended up needing warranty work on my truck due to a manufacture defect and Shottenkirk really took care of me getting me a rental car and checking in with me after the fix to make sure I wasn't having any further problems.
