I agree this place is NO place to take any vehicle for repairs!!! Especially the Ford Commercial Pro shop. Took my motor home there for a coolant leak. Expect to pay $ 225.00 per hour shop rate and expect it not repaired . Paid nearly 1900.00 for coolant leak, got it home still leaked. Didn't even tighten and torque all the bolts...for $1900.00 they will not make it right. Want me to pay more money... ya right. They DO NOT warranty their work . Service manager has no scruple's!! I've had this car for barely 1.5 years and since the first 24 hours it has been nothing but problem after problem. at first it was nothing crazy, a few amenity modules stopped working but I could still use my car. then it was the cruise control, then the seat belt sensors, then the driver side door (which I don't think has had the ability to lock since I bought the hunk of shit), then the battery, and if what my mechanic is telling me, it sounds like the fucking engine. and if you think they'll fix the problem that happens only 24 hours after giving them 17K you'd be sorely mistaken. they'll tell you there's a "scratch", to go fuck yourself, then pay them 700$ for the pleasure. fuck this fucking place. if I could give negative stars you'd bet your fucking ass I would. eat my tampon stivers! read more

Would be ZERO stars if that was an option. Continually have dismissed and ignored repeated pleas to get the licensing and registration completed for a BRAND NEW CAR purchase. Found out that the earliest they will be able to license the car is 32 days after the IN-TRANSIT will expire. Absolute joke. Their disregard for us as customers is appalling. Calling them about this concern turned into them chastising us ... which is ironic since it took 10 phone calls to even talk to someone. Since I finally have my car back after three months, here's a story of why to NEVER use Stivers Ford, especially the one in Waukee. On November 22nd, right before thanksgiving, my car wouldn't start and kept saying there was something wrong with the transmission and shifter. I called Stivers (as they were who I normally used) to have it towed there. Later that week (25th), I was informed they believed it was all from a spill that had gotten down into the computer system, and was told I would have to pay $1,300 to have that fixed. I knew it wasn't from a spill, so I went down there the next day. It was after 5 as I got off later that day from work, and all of the technicians and supervisors had left. I just asked to look at the parts to prove it was from a spill, but was told I'd have to come back the next day to speak to a technician. I get there the next day and was informed they hadn't even inspected the parts or took the vehicle apart, and to do this I would have to pay an additional $200! I told them I know it's not from a spill, and to tear it up. I also knew there were recalls on the vehicle for these specific parts, but was told that was all computer based, not the actual part, so couldn't be the cause of it. Finally, about a week later, they had torn it apart and found that a rodent chewed through the plastic under my car and into the wire harness. I was then told I need to file a claim with insurance. I did this immediately. For another week and a half, the insurance company had difficulties getting the proper documentation from the dealership to even order these parts, which were on back order! My insurance agent called and informed me that his supervisor, him, and their tech were physically going to the dealership to get the proper documentation. When they left, they still needed one more piece. Once given the ok to order these parts, one part was on back order because it had a recall on it. The part did not come in until January 6th. A week before the part finally came in, I had called to ask if I could use a loaner as I had been driving my uncles farm truck to and from Des Moines, sometimes farther, since the incident. They informed me since I didn't have rental insurance I would have to be put on a list for a loaner. Why this wasn't told to me at the beginning, I'm not sure. Mind you, from the time they ordered the parts till it actually got at the dealership, I had been in contact with my insurance company, and even Ford themselves, but never heard from the dealership unless I called them myself. Once the part was in, they informed me the goal was to have it completed by the end of the week, only to receive a message two days later stating it wouldn't be until the next week as that technician was working on another vehicle. I asked if another technician could work on it and was just simply told no. I then called the service manger, who told me they only had one part to hold the dash after it was taken off, and it was in use. So even if they could get another technician to do it, they didn't have extra holding parts to do so. Plus this technician was the "most" qualified for the job on my car. Monday, January 12th, I received a notification that further damage had been done to the HVAC system after the technician had finally taken the dash off. I asked why this wasn't discovered before but was told the insurance company has to ok tearing down the vehicle first, not sure if this is true, but at this point I don't believe it. They also had to order this part as well. Now to yesterday, my step dad had called the service manager and was told that it would be done that day, with a free oil change, tire fix, and detailed (they didn't detail the vehicle or wash it ). At 4:30 pm I was notified that the vehicle was moving to the quick lube for the tire and oil. My mom drove me down there and we arrived at 5:30 pm. They had not even begun the oil change or tire fix as they were informed by the technician who had been "communicating" with me that it could wait until today. I was furious. They then tried stating that they said they would "try" to get it done that day. Again, all lies. After a few choice words by myself I left infuriated and told my mom to just take me home. She went in and talked to them, they stated they would deliver the vehicle today. I have the car now, still annoyed. But glad this is over and I never have to deal with them again. read more

Every time I go in here, they aren't able to take my truck for service for a litany of reasons. One time it was because "one of their technicians were on vacation and one called out sick." Another time was because it was too late prior to closing, even though it was 45 minutes before closing and there were literally technicians standing around. Didn't get approval for entire job before doing it. Called in later said it was 200$ more than before and the job was already "done". Called after katie left and they said my brakes have not been done. Told them to not go forward, and they don't have my authorization. I didn't want to buy a new car: I had to. And they knew it. And it had to happen that day. And they knew it. Arrived late in the day and worked with Anthony Meyer and Peter Wall. I had contacted them ahead of time and they had a few cars picked out for me on the lot. We went through each car and they took the time to show me all of the features. We test drive two of the cars and I decided on one. The pricing and financing part of this took less than an hour and I was out of there with an amazing 0% interest rate. I was so excited to buy my 2008 F-150 at Stivers. The interaction was initially fine. The price was fair for the current market. Then, when I got home that night I noticed that the dome light didn't work. After a lot of trouble shooting I found out that both dome light assemblies had been unplugged. Once I plugged them back in I found out that the dome light randomly turned on while driving for no reason. That wouldn't look too good on a test drive now would it? So, instead of fixing the problem they just unplugged the dome lights. Then I noticed the gas gauge didn't work right. Empty was sometimes around a 1/4 of tank or 3/4 a tank. So, I took it to my mechanic who found out the reason for both problems was that the gauge cluster had gone bad. It was $1,000 to fix. I was willing to deal with that because I bought a used truck as-is. I had also noticed a couple of rusty spots on the frame after I had bought the truck and asked my mechanic to look at them. Turns out that on both sides of the frame were rusted and cracked and the truck was really unsafe to drive until the problem was addressed. That repair was $2,000. $3,000 later I decided to reach out to Stivers to see if they would like to maintain their integrity and any of my future business. First I emailed Scott the president since he had sent an email asking for a positive review and said to reach out to him if I needed anything at all. He never responded to me. Three days later I reached out to Andrew our sales guy. He promptly responded and said he would forward the email to his supervisor. After four days of no response I reached out to Andrew again and he informed me, "Usually, the salesperson does not have a hands-on role in situations like this." I gave it another couple days, partially to cool off from the amazing customer experience, and emailed again letting Andrew know, "I've been trying to find a cordial way to respond to your last email. Because, YOU had a "hands-on role" in selling me a truck that wasn't safe to drive. I have yet to have any correspondence from anyone else at Stivers. I simply need to know if Stivers is going to attempt to rectify this situation in any capacity..." Finally Arlynd a sales manager email me back and informed me the truck passed their 24 point inspection and all as-is sales are final. The best they could do was offer me a trade in. Surprisingly, I passed on such a generous offer. So, since I really have no recourse other than to tell my story online. Here it is. If you like 24 point inspections that are a joke, shady sales practices, and poor customer service, Stivers Ford is probably the place for you. read more

This is a follow up review for a problem with my f150. I took my 2013 f150 in for an oil change to Stivers. After a week with no warning lights or anything on the dash the engine started knocking heavily. I posted a review in December when it happened and they reached out on that review. I gave them every service record they needed and they were going to review them to see if it was their mess up. They wanted service records from the last time they touched it till now. Each service record going 9,000 miles.(oil service light on) Last service record is when Stivers touched it and a week later the engine had catastrophic failure. After about a month and half of me constantly pestering the service manager with phone calls and e-mails, I finally got an answer after I called for the 100th time. The answer and I quote was " no, we do not have the resources". What does that even mean! You're a ford dealership Stivers, how do you not have the "resources" to fix my truck. Honestly unbelievable, I would advise everyone to stay away from this dealership and go to a different one in Iowa. You'll just be another number to them and they won't take care of you. They never gave any other options or anything for the problem they created. Awful! read more

Be wary when providing this dealership your information. After placing a price tracker on one of their trucks through Auto Trader, which required a computer generated "interested" email to be sent to the dealer, I received a total of 12 emails from three separate sales rep - to include two a day from one sales rep - over 4 days (Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to & had not checked my non-family email account during that period due to personnel reasons & found my email boxes flooded when I finally had time to do so. Thank goodness I didn't give them my phone number. When I asked the one sales rep who sent two every day why it was necessary he continued to justify his actions & implied that I should have responded immediately. Really? Put them first ahead of my family, friends, work, & other personal stuff I won't get into, over a four day period, etc. I responded today, on Thursday morning - four days after my computer generated email was sent & the first time I had a chance to deal with this issue. If this is a reflection of this dealerships' customer service philosophy, best to move on. read more

After several calls throughout the week I was still told we'd be first and we'd be called when it's ready to test drive. I get a TEXT from him saying another couple wants to buy it. I explained we are having my wife's birthday l and will come look at it when we are done. Was sent another TEXT saying it was sold. Never buy a car or have any financial dealing with John Mullen, of Stivers! This man sells and finances used cars at Stivers in Waukee. Do not let the fact of his age (as he is quite elderly) and "genuine behavior" fool you. This man is a no good LIAR!!!*BUYERS BE WARE* this man is a liar and will tell you anything and fill you and your family's head and hearts full of lies just to sell a car. This man lied to me, my family, and was not phased by selling me a defective 2008 VW Jetta. I also informed him that I had a young son and needed reliable transportation. Oh he shook my hand, smiled, and "guaranteed" everything about the vehicle. The check engine light came on the same day I bought/ signed the car loan and pulled out of the Stivers parking lot onto Hickman. The paperwork was signed and I drove away after Stivers closed that day. I immediately called Anthony Meyers, who handles Internet sales and was the initial car salesman that I met with. Thank God he had a voicemail and I was able to leave a message. Long story short, I decided to take John up on his "guarantee" and return the Jetta within the 30 day period that I was "*guaranteed* that I had to return the vehicle if I should not wish to buy it for any reason."- guarantee was by verbalized to me and my fiancé, Dan. Buyers be aware of Stivers Lincoln Mercury Ford on Hickman Rd. Waukee, Iowa, and the lies. I will never do business there again! I have never encountered such a horrible business transaction in my 36 years of existence! Shame on you Mr. Mullen, and most of all - Shame on you Stivers to allow such immoral ethics, and code of conduct. "Do to others as you would want others to do to you." I've been a Stivers customer for awhile now and I used to think they did a solid job. Recently I bought brand new tires and I've been having problems with one tire ever since it was put in. Today I went in for the third time this month to get it checked out. I was only there for about 45 minutes and got my car back and left. My car made a weird sound immediately while driving it. Before I left the premise, I visually inspected the tire and nothing seemed to be wrong. When I got home I checked again and I found a screw in one of my tires. I called them and they said they would get it "taken care of". After I got it replaced, they proceeded to bill me for the new tire. I was shocked and asked why I was paying for something that happened at their shop. The quick lane employee called his manager, Kenny, and he said that I could have picked up the screw on my way home. I reluctantly paid the man, and left for the final time. I will never be going back to Stivers, and will never recommend them to anyone in the Des Moines area. It's sad they would rather charge me for the tire instead of keeping my business. read more

We went in on a Saturday and were looking for a used vehicle. Once we found the vehicle we liked we started talking to the dealer. It took almost 45 minutes to agree on a price for a trade that they low-balled (they offered almost about $4000 lower that what the fair trade value was as quoted by Kelly Blue Book, NADA, and Edmunds). Also in researching they had the vehicle listed about $3000 over the fair retail value (as quoted by Kelly Blue Book, NADA, and Edmunds, because they are crooks only out to make a buck). Once we came to an agreed upon price I filled out a credit application to be submitted to ONE SPECIFIC BANK that they were partnered with as I had already spoken with that particular bank and was pre-approved and they suggested a dealer they partnered with (Stiver's). However, this was a Saturday late afternoon so not much could be done at that time. I left and was told they would be in contact on the following Monday. Monday around 5 p.m. rolls around and I had not heard from them. So I called them only to find out they decided to sell the vehicle to someone else (I am assuming someone who didn't research and was OK with paying the $3000 markup on the vehicle). The following day I was alerted by my credit tracking company that there had been 10 inquiries. They submitted my info to 10 different financial institutions on Saturday plus the ONLY one I authorized them to (whom I might add did approve me but it wasn't until Monday when they opened).
