We were looking for something different for dinner recently and thought we would give this place a try. I've been to this plaza before to eat at another restaurant. We were confused as to where the actual restaurant was. There is a sign on Route 8, so we parked there, looked around, walked downstairs, only to find it was offices. We then walked upstairs and found that the entrance was actually on the other side of the building but accessible from the front. It's an interesting place when you walk in. We were quickly greeted and seated. It seemed as though the owner and family were working. The menu was interesting, not real large but sufficient. We had, who I believe is the owner, come to our table and ask what we typically like to eat and then she was making suggestions. We thought she was just being helpful. My wife finally looked at her and said, I'm sorry are you also taking flour order now? She replied well that's what I was trying to do. To me that was a little off putting. We all took her suggestions and ordered. The food came out fresh and warm. It was good. We all tried each others meals. We felt that what my wife ordered was the best. My first impression of the menu was that it appeared expensive. Located next to the lovely Lynn's Garden Chinese restaurant and barrel junction bar. This place was empty on a Sunday evening and half of the restaurant had its chairs turned up. It wasn't clear to me why, but there were multiple reasons that you couldn't enter to the obvious doors and had to take a second door. The presence of cones and a ladder showed me that there was still work being done. The menu contained items familiar to anyone who is in the middle eastern restaurant or Turkish restaurant or Mediterranean restaurant. The 4.9 rating put this at the same level as Bosophorous restaurant. It was one mile closer, so we chose it. For $9 approximately, including tax, we ordered three Mez options. Now, keeping in mind that an entire pint of Baba Ganoush at Salem's market is $9, we did not receive the same quantity. There was something about it as well. It seemed to be old. In fact, it was cold. It was probably from the refrigerator. We expected something freshly made, but this looked tired and was flavorless. I even believe they may have been a skin on top. What would have improved this experience slightly is a drizzling of olive oil and a fresh squeezing of lemon, perhaps a little bit of herbs, but none of that was present. We also ordered the chickpea salad after we were told the three bean salad was out of stock. This was one of the better parts of our meal. By the way, I forgot to mention that we were the only people in the restaurant and we were set directly next to the cash register where three younger girls were operating the restaurant and Emily was apparently in the back cooking. Everybody was super nice, but it was just a very odd experience. Being that the place was completely empty and many of the tables had their chairs turned up. It was 8 p.m. on a Sunday. We complained about the Baba and got hummus replacing it. The hummus was better, it was very creamy, and she put some of the chickpeas salad in it as a garnish. Another disappointment was that we ordered, Cacik, which is a yogurt dish. I felt that the dill that she used in this yogurt dish was dry dill and was disappointed in that. But regardless if that's true or not, we were given it as a complimentary side when we ordered a kebab dish on tray. Had we known that we were going to get basically the same amount of it for part of the meal, why would we have ordered a $9 side of is beyond us? So it was just me and my partner for dinner. We shared an entree and bought three mez items and it cost us $67. In actuality, I would give this restaurant a 3 star, but I'm giving it a 4 star because it's locally owned, and I believe that they can improve upon what they're doing. The main dish was a lamb meatball dish that was actually pretty good. I would finally like to mention that the hot sauce is based on Frank's Red Hot, and that's really a disappointment to me. read more

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality by Emily, the sweet and talented owner who clearly pours her heart into everything she does. The food was phenomenal--every dish was bursting with authentic flavors and made with such care. We started with the most delicious hummus and baba ganoush with fresh warm pita. For our entrees we had giant portions of chicken adana and doner kabab which were equally amazing. What really set this place apart though was Emily herself. Came here with my wife for an early dinner. Nice setting for a meal, except for the very harsh overhead lighting, which detracted from the experience. We started with the Cacik and baba ganoush. They were good. The baba ganoush was cold, which I didn't love. I am by no means an expert on baba ganoush, so maybe it's supposed to be served cold. The Cacik was tasty, but the description of the dish didn't really match up with what we got. It was supposed to have cucumbers and mint. I didn't taste any cucumber or mint, but tasted mostly dill. It was still good. For the main course, my wife and I split the lamb Adana. It was really delicious, as was the salad it was served with. It had a little heat but not too much. I guess my main beef with Emily's is the cost. Those two small dips (the Cacik and baba ganoush) cost $10 each. And our main course, which came with only one nice sized kebab of ground lamb cost a whopping $30. Very upscale prices for a restaurant that had more of an everyday, family feel. So, while our food was tasty, I'm not sure I can justify a return visit. read more

Finding fantastic ethnic food in Pittsburgh can sometimes be a challenge. If you're looking for Turkish/Mediterranean, look no more. After finding Emily's through cross-checking a couple of sites, my family and I decided to give it a try given the excellent reviews; the reviews were right! My nephew even said "this is one of the best meals I've had in a while." The restaurant is rather small and separated into the main restaurant and sunroom-like seating. They were a little short-staffed when we visited in July 2024 but the lady, who I presume to be the owner, was very attentive and got a large table cleaned up so we could sit there. The menu is not extensive but there's appetizers, soups/salads, entrees, and desserts. You'll be familiar with some of the dishes, like döner kebabs and such but you may have to Google others. In general, do a little research before you head out so you're not doing extra Googling at the table. (Pro tip: their website has good photos of each dish if you click on Order Online.) I opted for the Izgara Kofte and it was FANTASTIC. The rice was nice and buttery, the (flat) meatballs were well-seasoned, and I loved the house side salad. Our table also ordered the Beyti Kebab, the Chicken Döner, and the Coban Kavurma. Everything was delicious and we even brought leftovers home. We closed out our meal with baklava and it did not disappoint. 10/10 do yourself a favor and visit this hidden gem!! read more

Not bad, if you can find the door, lol. I pulled in directly from Route 8 and found that the signage was nowhere near their door. If you are facing the building, you'll want to go to the right of the signs, then go up a few steps to find their door which is off to the left. There is parking in the rear which I was not aware of, and do not know how to access it. The service was friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was so-so. The food was good, but I feel their prices are too high for what you get. I saw prices on two separate websites that differed. Unfortunately, the higher prices prevailed. I have this type of food available to me much closer to where I live and I believe I will stick with the restaurant that's closer to home because their food is comparable and their prices are more reasonable. read more

My group of 4 started with appetizers Red Pepper Baba Ganoush and Falafel. The Red Pepper Baba Ganoush was very unique and tasty. The Falafel was made to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. For Mediterranean restaurants, Falafel is always the first test. Since the Falafel was good, I expected the entrees to be good too and I was not disappointed. For entrees, we ordered the Beyti Kebab and the Chicken Adana. The chicken was soft, moist and tasty. I absolutely enjoyed the Beyti Kebab. It was very delicious. Not many Mediterranean dishes are served with a sauce but the sauce served with the Beyti kebab kept it moist and enjoyable. We wrapped up the lunch with Turkish coffee and tea. The owner Emily was welcoming, attentive and accommodating. The service was prompt and very good. The ambiance is good. My husband suggested Emily's after reading great reviews about it. Did not disappoint! It's tucked away in a small plaza off Route 8. We strolled in around 12 on a Sunday and we were the only ones there... but not for long! Others quickly filled the restaurant. The inside is not very big, but the booths and chairs were comfy. There is covered outdoor patio seating as well. The owner (Emily) was very sweet and welcoming. She was busy taking orders, running plates, refilling drinks, and everything in between. She brought out pita bread with hummus, tzatziki, a spicy sauce, and some other type of roasted spread (not sure the name). The hummus was amazing and so creamy. I got the chicken adona kebab and my husband got the gyro salad. Wow! The flavor of both meats was superb, and there was NO shortage of lamb on the salad. The chicken was sooo juicy and tender. I didn't think I was going to be able to finish but it was just too good! The dressing on the salad was also really flavorful and yummy. She ended up getting pretty busy with all the folks that had come in for lunch. We were in no rush, so it didn't bother us that it took awhile to get the check. She was hustling hard to make sure everyone was happy and satisfied with the food. We will be back to try out more of Emily's delicious food! I found this place on yelp and drove there, only to find that there is nobody there and apparently no restaurant. Would be great if the owners can clarify what happened. Earlier this month, my husband and I visited Emily's restaurant for the first time. Initially, we drove to the side of the building that did not look open, but we eventually figured out to drive to the correct side of the building. Please see my attached photo of the front entrance. My husband and I arrived just in time before the restaurant got busy with other customers--phew! (On a Sunday evening, several other customers were willing to wait outside for a table, so that tells you how good this restaurant is!) An employee immediately greeted us and seated us at a clean table. Our waitress was taking the order for a very large group, so we waited for several minutes to order. Here are my reviews for the foods that my husband and I ate: Hummus - $7 - 5 stars - This hummus contained chickpeas, tahini, garlic, cumin, black pepper, salt, lemon juice, and olive oil. This hummus was definitely some of the tastiest that we have ever eaten in our lives. Accompanying the hummus was pita bread that was warm and chewy. Mediterranean salad - $12 - 5 stars - This salad was a medium size and consisted of lettuce, red cabbage, carrots, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and parsley. This salad was one of the most flavorful salads that I have ever eaten. Mixed grill combo - $40 - 4 stars - This entree was very large and would be enough to share with another person. It consisted of lamb adana, lamb shish, chicken shish, kofte, and doner. Honestly, my husband and I were not certain what all of those meats were (!), but he thought that they tasted "OK" to "very good". On the side were a fresh salad and rice. Baklava - free! - 4.5 stars - The employee generously gave me this baklava for free. Its ingredients were a little different than what I am used to, but I enjoyed it. Because our waitress was so busy with other customers, she never gave us refills for our water, but we drank just enough water. This is my new favorite place. We will be back again and again. First, Emily is a delight! Service was quick and attentive. Second, the Turkish coffee was perfect. Just the right strength, and beautifully presented. Accompanied by the most delicious Turkish Delight I've ever tasted. Hubby and I shared the mixed grill, son had the Chicken Adana, and daughter enjoyed the Lentil soup and the Lamb Kabob. Emily warned her it was "too much" and she was right, but it was so wonderful how could we resist (and I'm not one to like lentils!)? Everything was great! We still had a good bit of leftovers to take home We had the Grape leaves and they were in this sauce which was sweet and sourish. The Hummus was perfect. The Beyti Kebab was the so flavorful! It was rich and filling. The lamb was so good inside the flat bread wrapping. Topping it off with the Yogurt pulled the whole meal together Lastly, the Baklava was so crumbly, sweet, and nutty (pistachio). It was just enough sweetness to salty. I love Emily. She was very nice (a serious demeanor, but very kind and really quite funny). Dinner was great, grape leaves, yaprak doner, and beyti kebab. These were LARGE servings. We talked with Emily about the desserts, asking which was the best (as what is fresh and available differs from what the menu has). She ended up bringing us three different ones on the house! They were all good, but the traditional baklava was, in our opinion, the best. I enjoyed the music that was playing and asked her for recommendations on Turkish artists; she asked me what kind of Turkish music (traditional or modern, etc.) and wrote a list to take home. The restaurant itself is pretty small with just a few tables. We've ordered take out once and ate in restaurant once. Both great experiences! Everything we've tried has been delicious and high quality! I recommend ordering a spread of things and sharing it to try multiple dishes. Love seeing different types of cuisine come to Gibsonia. To be fair, I have not officially "dined" here, but I just had the best experience at a restaurant that I can recall. I was driving on my way to a later business meeting when I saw the sign above the building and was really excited about getting some Mediterranean food. I could barely see the sign because a truck was unloading fresh supplies. I didn't even notice what time it was: 11:30am. I walked up the steps and was met by an adorable lady with a thick accent (Mediterranean maybe? :). She explained that they weren't open and apologized. I immediately told her it was no big deal. "No problem. Thank you". But she told me to wait there and dipped back into the restaurant. I was honestly thinking of walking back to my car because I wasn't sure what she was doing. But she was so nice! I couldn't just walk away. She came out with a plastic to go container with some form of dessert (not baklava, but close) and asked if I was allergic to cashews! Who does that?!? Emily's Mediterranean Turkish Grill opened about two months ago. Saw some great reviews for it (thanks Yelp fam), and I can safely say the reviews that came before this one were on the money. It's a cute little place with handful of tables for dining in. The decor, furniture and ambience are well done and in great condition. In other words, they didn't just move in and take whatever old furnishings were already there. They definitely made it their own. The food was great. My colleague and I arrived for lunch, and both ordered salads (I had the lamb, he had the chicken). My doner (lamb) salad was amazing. The dressing / sauces blended perfectly. The lamb was plentiful, tender and flavorful. And the salad mix itself was great, including lettuce, peppers, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and feta. My colleague also expressed a similar enjoyment of his salad. We both also ordered Turkish coffees. I was hoping for a thicker / stronger flavor profile, but it was good nonetheless. And it was beautifully presented (see the attached image). I did have two negatives to note. One, they don't seem to have a lunch menu. So plan on spending ~ $20 for lunch plus tip. Two, they're not really staffed as a full service restaurant. Service was a bit slow. But at the same time, the proprietor (I assume Emily) was a lovely woman. Very polite and attentive once she made her way to us. Even with those two criticisms, I so enjoyed this meal that I'm still calling it as 5-stars. Hopefully the service kinks will work themselves out over time. Will definitely be coming back. read more

Great new spot! I grew up just down the street from here and I am so excited that there is something other than bar food to try when I visit my parents. I recently got take-out for lunch. I loved the baba ghanoush - it had that perfect smoky flavor. I had the lamb kabob and my mom had the gyro. We both really liked ours. I found the lamb so tender and loved the rice and little salad. They also included a dessert - it was SO GOOD! Although I didn't dine in, I got to see the inside. This was a diner when I was growing up and I'm so impressed with how the space was transformed. It's a really cozy dining room. I can't wait to go back and have it again. If you are in Gibsonia you have to give this place a try! read more

My kids are picky eaters and we told them that we would get them nuggets after if they didn't want to order We were greeted by Emily herself, who was so sweet and attentive even though she was by herself serving and running the register. The place is small but inviting and there were three other parties when we arrived. Emily was great about making sure we had water. We got the baba ganoush with pita as an appetizer and it came out quickly. It was delicious, and the kids even ate the pita. My husband and I each got the doner, which came with rice and salad. While we waited for our food, we could hear the table next to us RAVING to Emily about everything. When our plates arrived, we could see why. The servings were huge, and everything tasted PERFECT. The plates were served with tzatziki and hot sauce. The tzatziki was SO fresh. I didn't even realize it could be that good. Emily noticed that my 3yo wasn't eating and told her that if she tried something, she would bring her a surprise. She tried some rice (which she loved) and Emily brought her out tiramisu, which we helped her with Every aspect of our lunch was fantastic, but you can tell that the owners love what they do, from sharing their culture to preparing their food.
