The Neutral Zone is located inside Chesterfield Mall. If you are not familiar with the mall, it's important to know that it no longer functions as a typical mall. There are a few businesses still there, mostly providing entertainment (movie theater, pickle ball, The Neutral Zone, etc.), but besides the Cheesecake Factory, you will not have other places to grab food, etc. while there. We arrived to the Neutral Zone, gave our voucher info at the front desk, and headed into the arcade. There are several retro games there to play (Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Frogger, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, racing games, Dance Dance Revolution, and more) as well as two skee ball lanes (only one was working at the time). My husband and I enjoyed playing some games from our childhood and competing with each other to see who could remember how to play what. :) We enjoyed ourselves while there and played all the games we wanted to, but we didn't stay more than an hour to an hour and a half at most -- which was fine with us, but if you were paying full price ($19.95) it would have been disappointing. All in all, I found it to be a fun evening but not something we would probably return to very often. For the retro gamers out there, check them out -- or give them a go for something different to do with your significant other.

Of note, you do NOT automatically get access to the North Pointe Aquatic Center in Ballwin when you joint The Pointe at Ballwin Commons - there is a separate membership for the outdoor aquatic center. This is definitely a family-centered gym. There are tons of kids around. They are doing some renovations/upgrades of different areas at the time of this review. Currently, the interiors are a bit dull, not fancy like some other gyms. They have large basketball courts and pickleball open play times (no charge). There are swim lessons, open swim times and water walking in the lazy river (check the schedule so you aren't disappointed). There are also a ton of classes and programs with additional charges. There is a childcare area. The weight lifting areas and upstairs indoor track are kind of awkward in design, and not huge but you can get a workout in. The outside is nice. There are large free parking lots and a cute playground for children with picnic tables.

It's not too crowded so I've never had to wait for a machine. There's a track upstairs if you want to walk or run. We've come here often enough that it's better than the malls closest to us and the outlet, imho. There's plenty of parking, but because of the construction, you'll want to park in certain areas.

Now when I stroll the mall, I'm lucky if I see a familiar branded store. I basically only come for two stores now. I shop the Apple Store, which I am surprised is still located in the mall. I would have expected them to depart to a strip center somewhere else in the metro area. The other store I frequent is Tommy Bahama, but I don't shop there as often as I use, too. I can now just go on line and have it shipped to my home. My most recent visit, I could see the wear and tear of the Galleria and a desperate need for repairs and maintenance. As long as Apple remains a tenant, I'll keep coming back.

So - things just changed for me. The COVID shutdown illuminated things that I probably would have…read moreotherwise ignored or not noticed. I have been a 5-6 year client. It had become more apparent recently that this gym was very focused on gaining new membership, which was fine. One of the owners seemed solely focused on this (and money) to the point of always "doing business" during training hours and always talking about money. He had no interest in actually training people, which is what he used to do. There was definitely greed showing. There also seemed to be recent big box gym type tactics that try to lure in vulnerable people (15 lbs in 30 days or my money back!) This became a huge turn off to me. During COVID, the gym shut down. The prices (which are personal training type prices) did NOT CHANGE. I accepted it for about 6 weeks before finally feeling like it was a waste of money. At this point my husband and I were about $1k deep with no gym time. I was not using the online workout tools (you can find free apps everywhere) and videos on how to do a push up, etc. Upon finally asking about this and how the price would be adjusted, the response was defensive and coined as if coming from a script. They eventually said I could have "paused" the payments. Why couldn't this have been done at the beginning and why did I have to ask? So some people had their payments paused but not me? In summary, I think some of what's going on here is fine but I think the focus has really changed and they are money/client hungry (I once saw "be a millionaire" on a whiteboard goals list). The hours have shortened, the price has increased and it's also not like the place is full of nice new equipment (a lot of taped up, used, etc.). It was actually quite sad after all these years to leave but an owner thanked me for my "couple years" of being a client and off I go.

He rudely told me I could not buy lottery tickets with a credit card. I told him I am not using my credit card. Then he rudely told me i could put the lottery cards and groceries back. His tone was rude, condescending and nasty. I told him i would never step a foot in this nasty filthy 7-11 again. Normally I do not patronize these establishments but we are expecting 8-10 inches of snow today and the stores were crowded. When we stop patronizing these establishments that mistreat the very customers who patronize them, these foreigners would treat their African American customers better. I am asking customers especially African American customers to boycott and not patronize this establishment
