They have a selection of snacks and beverages available, which was nice, although I do wish they were able to sell alcohol. A beer or glass of wine would have been a great addition to the experience. There are lots of places to grab a bite or drink -- coffee, smoothies, yogurt, mexican food, argentine food, subs, sushi and pizza (you can actually watch the show while eating pizza on their patio). They show feature movies on the weekend and during the week old tv shows, cartoons, and seasonal stuff. It runs from sundown until around 10 or 11pm every day of the year. It can be a little hard to find, but if you can locate LA Fitness or Old Spaghetti Factory, you're getting warmer. It's nestled between Pizza Nova and Ryan Bros Coffee. Lots of free parking. They've also hosted the annual San Marcos Student Film Festival 2 years running, which is usually in June, and again free to the public. The only reason for the lack of 5 stars is that it is COLD in the winter, and WET when its rainy ...not that there's a real solution to that, other than a blanket and an umbrella.... Con: depends on the day and movie; it can get super packed, the entrance to purchase tickets can get long and extend to the streets; can be dangerous if no one pays attention. Bathroom is outdated, sometimes no hand soap or they run out of bathroom tissues or napkins. Other than that; such a great deal for new movie releases and in the comfort of your car. You can bring snacks, food etc; I always bring a pillow and blanked for extra comfort. Make sure to bring a radio if you don't want your car battery to die. Fun family entertainment, and it can be done on the cheap. We get out 4-6 times each year and love every time. What to know. It's a drive-in by night (Thursdays-Sundays) and a swap meet on the weekends during the day. As for movies, the drive-in is styled as a classic drive-in cinema with three screens with concessions that sells candies, soda popcorn, hotdogs and nachos with chili and cheese. I often find that people will come with their own food. As for shows, they are the popular blockbusters. The screens are of varying sizes, with the sound transmitted directly to your car stereo. The parking area is pretty spacious and kept clean, but it will get very -- and I mean very -- busy during the popular shows. Plan to be here at least 30-40 minutes before your movie starts to get through the line, get parked and set up and to get through concessions. As for the swap meet, I have never been but it looks like they have dozens upon dozens of vendors selling clothing, electronics, crafts, collectibles, etc. The atmosphere at South Bay Drive-In is casual and family-friendly, so it is great for all ages. Every so often, someone will sneak a pup in. It can get loud, with screaming children and people who are running their audio too loud. And there is the occasional person who refuses to turn off their lights during the duration of the movie (Arghhh!!! Make sure your vehicle's battery is sufficient for the duration of the film, or consider using a portable FM radio like most every single other person to avoid any issues). It is otherwise an absolutely wonderful place and a lovely pastime great for making memories.

However, there were less than ten people in the theater. So, keep that in mind as well. I ordered poke nachos, a popcorn, and a soda. Pretty simple order, right? My "host" brought out the popcorn + drink pretty swiftly. The popcorn tasted stale, just like another time I'd visited. Even though I'm pretty sure their 1:30 movies are their first showing. About halfway through the movie, I pressed the call button because I still hadn't received my nachos. The host said, "They might be ready now. Let me check." Translation: "I forgot them." That was pretty annoying. Especially as this is the third time something like this has occurred at The Lot. And I've only been three times in total. Luckily, the popcorn was free because it was my birthday, which I had to remind the host twice before he tried charging me. Do not order it unless you enjoy stale popcorn. My friends and I are obsessed with the $5 Mystery Movie Mondays and the discounted Tuesday tickets. I also really like the Regal app because it's easy to use and the rewards actually add up. I've redeemed points for free movie tickets and snacks a bunch of times already, and this month I even got a free small popcorn for my birthday. The only downside is that the concession lines can get ridiculously long and slow sometimes, especially on busy nights. Other than that, I definitely recommend this theater.

It's located on the inside of a mall, but there's not even a sign that specifies that AMC is there. Just know that once you've passed by Trader Joe's and start walking to Ralph's, you've gone too far. As for parking, I think on the lower level, which is also hard to pinpoint from the main road (depending on where you're driving from, I've been told there's a parking garage). For me, I just ended up parking near the Trader Joes's/PetSmart side, which offered plentiful and more manageable parking. Aside from that, I totally understand what everyone means by the odd parking situation now lol. Once I found the theatre, it wasn't a bad experience. Staff was friendly, bathrooms, for the most part were clean. The inside felt a little outdated, but the reclining seats were comfortable! Keep in mind that they WILL make some loud squeaky noises if you're trying to adjust the positions mid-movie. I'm not sure if I'll be back to this AMC specifically, but I can't say I had a completely terrible experience either.
