There are lots of places to grab a bite or drink -- coffee, smoothies, yogurt, mexican food, argentine food, subs, sushi and pizza (you can actually watch the show while eating pizza on their patio). They show feature movies on the weekend and during the week old tv shows, cartoons, and seasonal stuff. It runs from sundown until around 10 or 11pm every day of the year. It can be a little hard to find, but if you can locate LA Fitness or Old Spaghetti Factory, you're getting warmer. It's nestled between Pizza Nova and Ryan Bros Coffee. Lots of free parking. They've also hosted the annual San Marcos Student Film Festival 2 years running, which is usually in June, and again free to the public. The only reason for the lack of 5 stars is that it is COLD in the winter, and WET when its rainy ...not that there's a real solution to that, other than a blanket and an umbrella.... Expect kids running around, outdoor noise from cars and conversation, but its all part of the fun. Did I mention its all FREE?

Bring your own blanket (and chair if you've got one, seating can be limited) and re-live the golden age of drive ins, that you probably weren't alive for in the first place.

I would recommend arriving earlier than the start time so that you can look over the menu and decide what to order and not feel rushed about the movie starting. There's a QR code at every seat - you scan that and then submit your order through the website. As a rewards sign up bonus, I got a free ice cream churro (normally $12). That was really good. We also got the cauliflower bites with thai chili and I's recommend that as well. We were at screen #8. Do not sit in the first two rows (A & B). The angle is not right. We had to crane our necks to look up the actors' noses. Row C might be OK, but it's still at the same lower level as A & B. Starting at row D is where the seats are on a raised platform and you could see the screen eye level.

We made that mistake, but it wasn't a big deal since the other location was only 2 miles away. Our server was very nice and attentive, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the theater itself felt pretty dated. Paint peeling, stains, general signs of wear. The food was fine, but nothing that really stood out. If you frequent places like The Lot (especially the one in La Jolla), you know what a luxury cinema experience can be. This one unfortunately didn't meet that bar for me. The nice staff saves this from a one-star, but if I'm in the North County area I'll probably go to other Cinépolis locations over this one.

I really enjoy the experience of The Lot, but between this location and the one on Liberty Station,…read morethe service always leaves something to be desired. Each visit (three separate occasions), something I've ordered was either forgotten or brought out very late. On this particular visit (Fri, July 3rd), I went to see a movie for my birthday. Unfortunately, due to public transportation, I was unable to make it to the theater as early as I wanted. My movie started @ 1:30, but I didn't make it inside until about 1:40 or so. The trailers were still playing, but the lights were off inside and the other guests seemed to already have their food/drinks. So, I attribute some of the mishap to that. However, there were less than ten people in the theater. So, keep that in mind as well. I ordered poke nachos, a popcorn, and a soda. Pretty simple order, right? My "host" brought out the popcorn + drink pretty swiftly. The popcorn tasted stale, just like another time I'd visited. Even though I'm pretty sure their 1:30 movies are their first showing. About halfway through the movie, I pressed the call button because I still hadn't received my nachos. The host said, "They might be ready now. Let me check." Translation: "I forgot them." That was pretty annoying. Especially as this is the third time something like this has occurred at The Lot. And I've only been three times in total. Luckily, the popcorn was free because it was my birthday, which I had to remind the host twice before he tried charging me. Do not order it unless you enjoy stale popcorn. The nachos and ginger ale were tasty, though. Overall, the vibe/setup is nice for viewing films. I only which the service and attention to detail was better.

We arrived around 6 p.m. and had no trouble finding parking in the garage, which was a huge plus. Even better, parking is validated when you see a movie there. The theater itself is beautiful, with a restaurant, bar, indoor-outdoor lounge area, and a cute concession stand that makes it feel much more upscale than your average movie theater. After scanning our tickets, we went straight to our auditorium where we could order food either through a waitress or by using a QR code. I appreciated that they offer both paper menus and digital ordering options. The ordering app was incredibly user-friendly and easy to navigate. While some menu prices felt a little steep (around $20 for a hot dog or kids meal), the food itself was delicious. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and a Coke Icee. The Icee was a little more slushy than icy, but that was my only minor complaint. The theater was extremely clean, spacious, and comfortable. The reclining seats were great, and there was plenty of room between guests so you never felt crowded. One tip: bring a sweater or wear pants because it gets chilly inside, and the leather seats can feel a little cold and uncomfy against bare skin. Overall, The Lot delivers a premium movie-going experience, and I'd definitely recommend it for a fun date night or a special trip to the movies.

This is probably one of my favorite theaters to go to in North County. There are tons of parking…read morearound so you don't have to worry about that. This theater is truly luxury where you can order your food and drink right at your seat and they do have actual meals (such as burgers, etc.). They also do have alcohol and cocktails. The seating here is unique where it's two sweaters (great for couples). than the typical long row seating. The chairs are comfy and feels quite intimate to be honest. I would say the only downside is that you know the movie is ending when the servers come to drop off your check so it can be a bit distracting from that. But overall, it's a great movie theater where you can eat and watch with your loved ones!

I've been coming to Cinepolis La Costa since they first opened and have always loved this theater…read more I hadn't been in a while, though, so I was excited to go back last night with a group of friends. The location is great, with a large parking lot that's easy to get in and out of. I still love the lobby and overall atmosphere. It feels a lot more upscale than your average movie theater, and everything seemed clean and well maintained. The biggest disappointment was the service. We ordered a popcorn refill and additional drinks during the movie and ended up waiting about 30 to 40 minutes for them to arrive. I also never received a receipt at the end and had to stop by customer service afterward. I also have to mention how much I miss the Greek bowl they used to serve. It had gyro meat and was hands down my favorite thing on the menu. I would love to see it make a comeback. I'll definitely be back because I still enjoy the theater overall, but I do feel like the experience isn't quite as good as it used to be.
