I would have really liked it more if I was 21 to 25 years old but unfortunately I am 30 years old and felt like a very old man! This place is so much fun. Great music and a trendy crowd. Excellent DJs who play the best music. The food is solid here, everything from sushi to noodles to meat entrees. The service can be a bit slow but everything else is positive so therefore four stars. read more

They charged us for a bottle that no one even requested! When I told the bottle girl that no one requested the extra bottle she informed her manager. I even asked who ordered the bottle and she was unable to point out who she claims asked for another bottle. The manager that she introduced me to was completely unprofessional to the point where my cousin had to step between us because of how angry I was. When I informed him that I didn't request another bottle during my visit he responded by saying "well why would you drink a bottle that you didn't order?" I responded by asking why wouldn't someone make sure that the person who's card they have on file is ok with another bottle being added? The whole situation was shady and I will absolutely not be back to Shrine and will be sure to tell my wide network to never go here either unless things change because this seems to me like it was a complete scam. read more

I've been to Shrine numerous times. But it's no longer the hot spot it used to be. If you wanna deal with ignorant patrons and rude security guards. I booked a VIP last Saturday for a friends 21st they kicked her out within 30 mins because they said she was leaning. Kinda ridiculous when you book a VIP party of 23 people and they kick out the person were celebrating it for. It's kinda tough for a girl to dance and wear heels all night. I emailed and called Shrine to no avail. They only care about taking your money and ruining the night. If you wanna go a place where everyone is ignorant be my guest except the bottle girl I had she was pleasant. She tried to get the birthday girl back in. The security has a quick hook like your in Game 7 of the World Series. But if your looking for a bad time and everything ridiculously overpriced this is the place for you. read more

Went here for my friends birthday last night and the music was AWFUL!!!! We ate at the restaurant(which was great,red lantern) so luckily we didnt need to pay the cover otherwise I would have been very upset. It got jam packed and the music they were playing was from the 90s" pump the jam",ummm seriously??? What kind of "club" is this. Loved the stay at the hotel,maybe get a new DJ,we left after like an hour. Dont make this your destination spot if youre looking for a club,youll be pretty dissapointed. read more

Yes it is widely known that Shrine is the best nightclub in eastern connecticut but this review is simply about the Sushi at Shrine. I love sushi and have eaten sushi east coast and west. The sushi at shrine is fresh- the rolls are tight- any seasoning on specialty rolls is subtle and perfect. If you like sushi it is worth the trip specifically for that. read more

Had a rez at MGM hotel, went for food. Chose a winner with Shrine (restaurant, not club). Beautiful decor, attentive staff, food was fabulous, both in presentation and taste. Martinis were crisply made and served w extra olives, as requested. Sushi was fresh, roast pork fried rice arrived in a huge bowl (which stayed hot almost entire meal) and very tasty without being too salty. Great experience. (A Thursday night, 7 PM). read more

I just came back from a 3 month trip from the DR...this casino is like 5000 times bigger than the couple I visited in that country... with nice restaurants and stores and it took me twenty minutes to walk from the parking garage to the club...The place is half the size of the former Estate in Boston, which formerly was known as Zanzibar...The drink prices were around what they are in Boston now mostly...The dance floor is about half the size of what it should be and the second floor balcony was closed on this night because it was a Thursday. The bartender served a big drink, but it was around half the potency of my usual haunt...The crowd was one of the more homogenous crowds I have seen in awhile, for some reason on this night, with heels the women were towering over me and a good 35 percent were like 6 foot 2 with their heels!!! So even though this club is in a casino 5000 times the size of the casinos I recently visited in the DR, their clubs blew away this one, of course their crowds were quite different...Music was so so and the best part of the night was the very personable front door dudes...Oh yeah...it has kind of quasi-Asian motiff...meanwhile not one Asian employee, or patrons for that matter except for me and a couple of Indian dudes... read more

It's a nice little spot if you are staying at the hotel, however $20 for a few hours (9-1) is a bit pricey for me (I'm from NY so I'm used to clubs going till 4). It was also very crowded and it's small in there so not much room to maneuver. The guest dj cash cash was great and I enjoyed the music. Had about two drinks. The first vodka and cranberry tasted like just cranberry juice so the second time around I just had a corona. I also saw some people get kicked out because they were too "drunk." I saw one guy (visitor like me) walk over to security and told him that there was a guy who was "all over the place" and proceeded to point him out. Security then went over and escorted him out... whether he was really drunk or not, i don't know, didn't really seem like it when he passed by compared to the other sloppy drunks I saw who got to stay. Overall it's alright but don't think I will be back and I wouldn't choose to come here if i wasn't staying at the hotel. read more

It is a great place to be! The atmosphere is great and its everything all in one place, you can eat, drink, dance, and or just lounge! The decor and furniture I absolutely love i am into the whole asian theme so i fell in love with the place the day they opened it! They are always having great events there almost everyday out the week is gonna be a great time! The location is great also when ur done there you have the whole Foxwoods casino to walk around and gamble and enjoy more of your night! The only thing was the prices of the drinks they were a lil pricy even for a beer but i guess it is to be exspected considering the location and name and so forth! I asked for simple tap water and the bar couldn't do it. They won't give you water unless you pay 5 dollars for it. Meanwhile there is a good tab going on. I asked to talk to the manager and he wouldn't do it. Worked l in the restaurant industry as a bartender for a long time and this is not good customer service. Not good. read more

DO NOT GO HERE this is the worst nightclub I've ever been to. Apparently having fun and dancing here is forbidden. The management and security staff need a serious wake up call. With the line up of talent coming through in the next couple of months this place is going to have to make some serious changes in the way they treat their clients or they will be in for a rude awaking. If you dance too much or if it looks like your having too much fun the security will come over and demand you provide them with your ID, at which point they walk out the door with it so you have no choice but to follow them,then they give you a sobriety test. I've never in my life seen anything like this. We've been literally around the world clubbing to some of the top nightclubs IN THE WORLD and have never been treated like this. It's pretty much a scam, you travel here, book a room, pay to get in, spend money at the bar, then the security goes and does a sweep escorting people out as to allow new paying customers to come in and the cycle continues throughout the night. The light show and sound are not that great at all and the drinks are what you would expect to pay at Story or LIV in Miami. This is Connecticut in the middle of the sticks. Speaking of drinks, my friend wanted to get her phone out of her purse to recored a remix of the headlining djs most popular track so she asked me to hold her drink for a second then security comes barreling through the dance floor and rips the drink out of my hand. I'm 30 years old, try talking to me first like an adult. Get it together Shrine. You finally have some good talent and top promoters hosting quality parties and your gonna blow it! This review is I a long time coming. I would give negative reviews if I could. This place along with the staff and management at the time is literally the worst I have ever encountered at any establishment to date. I had such a bad experience 8 years ago I still have not been back to Foxwoods, and literally tell everyone I know to avoid this place at all cost. We came here for a co-workers 25th birthday with a very large party. If I recall we had around 10 of us total. We had planned to eat dinner get drinks then go to the dance club. About halfway through our meal we alerted the staff we wanted to get into the club and if they could do anything for us. A manager came over and stated if our bill was greater than $1500 that they would give us a vip table and free admission to the club. Also stated we wouldn't have to wait in line to get in. So we sat at the table about an hour longer and ordered many more rounds with a bill before tip totaling over $1800. We paid, was told to go down to the club and we would be let in. Guess what, the door man stated no one set anything up and we had to not only wait in line but no vip table and we had to pay cover. At that point the line was huge. We went back to the restaurant and the managers wouldn't even talk to us. They were all hiding, they sent our server out who was very apologetic but simply stated no one would talk to us and that they couldn't accommodate what was promised. The club was to full and that was that. We were stunned, frankly I still am stunned. Worst place ever, even if they managers have changed, I sent a letter an email and several phone calls in the following days of our horrible experience. I received nothing in return, not even a simple apology. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. If you do go, make sure you pre-game so you don't have to buy any drinks at this overpriced crappy club.. read more

I hate this place. No way will I ever step foot in it. We had made birthday reservations for this place THREE WEEKS in advance. The credit card was held $150.00 for three people for VIP. Shrine calls us the day we are arriving at Foxwoods to tell us that they need to cancel the VIP because they can't accomodate three girls. They can only accomodate six for the same price. Explain to me how that makes any sense? They were being paid the same amount of money but since it was less people they refused to do it after they held the credit card for three weeks and confirmed the reservation! The manager Bob was an absolute idiot. We talked to a lot of people at Foxwoods workers and not who told us the place was extremely over rated and a waste of money. They basically told us our money wasn't good enough because we weren't famous as Bob the manager put it. I'm pretty sure his nickname should have been Dick instead. read more

The worst experience of our lives. We drove over 6 hours and booked a hotel to see one our all time favorite djs and it was ruined. It started off great and we were the first to arrive. Then when my bf went to the bathroom a security guard was waiting for him and asked that they talk outside. Telling him that he was showing signs of intoxication. Mind you, we are at a bar right? He didn't even bump into one person which is surprising due to it being over headcount. Lied to him saying that i had his cards...lied to him that he could get back in if he cooperated....and we did fully. And we were not allowed back in and we didn't get to see our favorite dj. They cared more about the money than making sure that their guests were happy. Foxwoods even stated that there was no reason for us to be kicked out and that this happens all the time to innocent people. It's sick and disgusting. The epitome of nightlife. This coming from a dj who has spun at a lot of venues and been in some pretty bad bars. At least the dive bars took better care of their people. I also read a review where a VIP person had over 100 bucks in charges that she didn't make! And management does nothing? A group of us walked in for a double birthday with a party of 30+. We didn't get VIP but we waited in line and paid $20 per person like everyone else. We walk in and there was a man unconscious on the floor and an another fight starting. It was so crowded and we felt very unsafe. We all immediately walked out. Clearly, they did not have the situations under control. So we walked back out and when we asked for our money back of course they said no. We were there for 30 seconds. Ugh, never again! read more

Came for my friends 22nd birthday. Dancing and having a good time and security comes up to us and asks for our I.ds and proceeds to bring us outside the club. We are asked to leave because we were "swaying back and forth" when all we were doing was dancing. Security said "I was going to let you back in, but you're f***ing rude." I love going out to the club and dancing the night away. my bridesmaid and moh planned an amazing night out for me. and it involved getting dinner at the red lantern which was very good, and then going to the night club. first of all the advertising says free before 1. we got there 1045 and the guy said the only way to get in free is to add them on snap chat, well half of us didn't have snap chat which would mean we would have to pay...eventually he said we can go in and pay at the cashier once we got to the cashier she said we were fine to go in for free as it was before 11. so we wasted all that time in line holding people up to sign up for something we didn't even need. then inside the club they played house music for most of the first hour I was there which I am not a fan of. then their dance floor was absolutely disgusting, people were spilling drinks left and right it was so wet and slippery. they even had a maintenance guy come out and sweep the floors at one point. mind you everyone in my party only had one drink that first hour. I go to the bathroom with my moh and friend and my other two bridesmaids go to have a cig. as soon as we walk out of the bathroom a security guard asks us to please come with him. he asks for my friends ID, and she is 22...says he was told she was swaying and bumping into people. and asks that she leaves. I again want to point out there were a lot of people there that were swaying and bumping into people I myself got literally stepped on by a stiletto heel. and there was alcohol split. yes we were all in heels so maybe our feet hurt and we were taking it easy but no one was bumping into anyone of falling over in my party at least. once we got kicked we asked to speak to a manager and the lady just had a huge attitude and did not want to even give us 3 minutes of her time. we spend a lot of money to be able to have fun have a few drinks and just stay over. at that point we were all sober and ready to drive home we didn't even want to stay there another moment. needless to say we went to another bar had a drink and went to bed. I am disgusted by that club it was a total mess inside and the staff were extremely arrogant and rude. I ran into a few people after that that we had seen at the club earlier and they all said the same thing and one of the girls didn't drink at all! it seems as though they were trying to get rid of the crowd that got in for free to allow for the paying people to get into on the 20$ cover. that's not how you run a club and thank you for making my one and only bach party a complete waste and extremely miserable. I can promise you myself and my 5 friends will not be returning and I hope others that had the same experience can share theirs. read more

It was fun while it lasted. Celebrated my 21st birthday here. Security is so strict. At 11 they take awake the chairs at the bar and charge you $600 for a table if you want to sit. Drinks are wicked expensive. This is where everyone goes though. I met a lot of cool people here before they decided to kick my friend out for being "intoxicated"... she had 2 drinks. Then they found out I was with her and kicked me out too... on my 21st birthday. I talked to many people outside after one of the bouncers pushed by me while ignoring my questions. Manager Lindsey said maybe 2 words to me before running inside, that's not a way to run an establishment honey..apparently they are known for kicking out people of their own choosing, even if they are doing nothing wrong, just to let more people in and make more money. Awesome venue, which reminds me of the top Las Vegas nightclubs. The best DJ's from across the world + incredible resident DJ talent. 100% dancing and partying all night. We danced all night and our VIP hostess was awesome. Shrine is honestly the best club that I've been to and it's so nice! Shrine is one of the most upscale nightlife venues that I have attended in the New England area. The women on the staff are absolutely beautiful. The rest of the staff is incredibly well trained in customer service. Vip areas are nice and helped kept private by the outstanding security that they have. Shrine is a crowd pleaser, any group WILL go in there and have fun. Most of all "I love Tuesdays" was the best idea. read more

I have been to many clubs, including clubs in Boston & Providence. However, nothing compares to the atmosphere Shrine offers. It is without comparison, the nicest nightclub in the area. It feels very high-class and conservative, and is appropriate for any age. If you're looking to have a great time with classy people, good music and amazing food and drinks; this is the place to go! This is also a hot spot for celebrities. The Asian decor is fabulous and it gives it a great feel. Their sushi is also amazing, by far the best I've had (and I'm not huge into sushi) The size of the nightclub is not overwhelmingly big, and is great if you are going with just 1 other person or a group of people. They have many VIP booths available, and are all in good spots of the nightclub. So, if you like to dress up, dance, and have fun in a nonjudgmental crowd of people, this is definitely the place to go! I would recommend it to anyone and if I could, I'd be there every weekend. read more

I have never eaten here but i have gone at night when it's a club. It's a good time!! The part that I don't like is after 10pm they take out all the chairs from the bar and you can only sit in the VIP or outside. I'm not someone who smokes so I didn't like being outside long. They always have good DJs and the staff is nice. I plan to eat at the restaurant soon I just need to find a friend who likes sushi to come with! I'll post another review once I eat here! My one experience at Shrine was quick and disappointing. The nightclub itself had great music and atmosphere. However, the bouncers were terrible. I went there last year for my birthday with a group of people. When we got to the front of the line my sister had dropped her ID and struggled to pick it up because she was waring short dress and heals. The bouncer refused to let her in, claiming she was "too intoxicated." Yes we had pregame a little, but we were in no way out of control or disrespectful. I paid $20 to go in for thirty seconds. When I found out my sister couldn't get in, I left and they wouldn't let me back in claiming "no re-entry". We then came back to Shrine 30 minutes later to get in again. The bouncer then said another person in our group was "too intoxicated" (which he wasn't) and wouldn't let any of us in. Over all, club was great for the short time I was there, but the bouncers are power hungry and ridiculous with admission. I will never go back. read more

I've been to Shrine a few times before and decided to go there on 7/3 for Alesso. Unfortunately, we did not purchase tickets in advance. I assumed (wrongfully) that the price in tickets would not change. We were clearly wrong. After waiting in the VIP line for over 30 minutes, we moved to the general admission line (Which was a line longer than the casino floor). We waited in that line for 20-30 minutes as well, only to get up to have our ID's checked and this hoity-toity bouncer with a clipboard (must be real important) told us that it would be $100 per person to get in if we hadn't purchased tickets ahead of time. (At this point it's 11:30 pm. - on a weeknight, thus last call is at 12:30pm). So basically, they mean to tell me that we are supposed to pay $100 JUST TO GET IN.....to hear a DJ spin a set for an hour? and also spend money on drinks for just one hour? What a joke. When we expressed our dislike of the price, he simply lifted the velvet rope and let us pass through (highly embarrassing). This place is a joke. Unless you're rolling in thousands of dollars for the night, it's really not for you. You're better off going on a night when there is no one special there. read more
