I was excited to find this place on Yelp while exploring Monrovia. Needed a beer after a hike to Monrovia Falls. And to make things better, their menu said "weekend" happy hour. God bless! Unfortunately, that was an old menu shot on Yelp. They didn't have weekend happy hour anymore. And their pints are either $8 or $9 no matter the abv, so you can't even getting a cheap blonde beer if you wanted to skip the pricy IPAs. The food is pricy too. We ordered Cauliflower nachos for $9 and were served some fried cauliflower with a little bit of cheese sauce and some toppings on a salad plate. Not even a regular plate. A salad plate. When I think nachos, I think platters. Just did not feel like I got my money's worth. The waitress was nice and let us try a few beers before buying. She left mid snack and another person took over. She helped a fellow Whole Foods employee, who had just finished her shift, taste her way through the taps. My husband and I decided to grab lunch here last Sunday afternoon around 1 pm. This place is small but had quite a few tables inside (and out) to choose from. But we opted to sit at the bar. We were acknowledged by the bartender and given menus. After browsing through it, we ended up ordering: (Currently on Thursdays and Sundays you can get a beer and an order or wings or an order of any of their flatbreads for only a mere $10) Fig & Prosciutto Flat Bread Pizza- (Normally $12 prior to tax)- A good size for sharing with another person. Thought the flatbread had a nice savory, yet sweet taste. But it also had bleu cheese on it, which I am not quite a fan of. Golden Road Hefeweizen (Normally $6 prior to tax)- A smooth beer, according to my husband. I am not a beer drinker so I didn't have any. He liked his beer. Char- Roasted Brussels Sprouts, $6 prior to tax- The amount you get for the price is pretty good and excellent for sharing. I thought it was a nice surprise to find pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries in this side dish. This also comes with bacon, but I asked for it to be on the side (which my husband added to his burger). The garlic aioli was nice, wished there a little more added side for additional dipping. The Brussels sprouts itself was tender. Lamb Burger, $10 prior to tax- My husband ordered this medium. It came with a nice size side salad. The dressing wasn't overly dressed and happy that it was made with the dark green leafys. The burger itself was tender and a great size. But both my husband and I wished the bun itself was a little smaller or a little less bread like (if that makes sense). We both did like that there was pepper on top of the bun though. Tiger Roll, (4 pieces) $7 prior to tax- For any of the rolls, you have the option of having it made with white or brown rice. Being the health conscious person, I opted for brown. I was a little disappointed that for the price I paid, it came with only 4 small pieces. But it was good. This place is not the same like it use to be. You would think a big company that is owned by Amazon would have somebody to help there Clint's. I went there around 4:30pm and there was nobody to help or greet or take my order. I waited for about 20 mins and finally the the person who is supposed to be working comes back. I asked to order the Pub Burger and he tells me "I'm Sorry We don't have the staff to cook that right now?" Wow!! I have never experienced that before. I was looking forward to try out the Whole Foods: Shuffle Bar since it is local to me. I ordered the Bison Burger and Carnitas Nachos. Waited for 30 minutes then followed up just to find out that the system was down, and told me that they will process it. Waited another 10 minutes to find out that they can't even process my order at all. I had to request a refund which took more than 10 minutes to process because of I don't know what reason. Clearly a waste of a Friday night dinner! Really horrible service especially being a part of Whole Foods. Overall, this is one of the worse services and restaurant experience I've had my whole life. The citrus avocado salad was refreshing and delightful, topped with grapefruit slices and crushed pistachios. The derby fries (fries mixed with avocado aoili) were pretty good! So if you don't have time to afford to wait. Stay away. Because you're gonna get impatient because service here is SO SLOW. Slow to get seated, get a server to come to our table to get us menus, to take our orders, to get our food out, etc. I can't describe it anything else but SLOW. Service really needs to step their game up because it was terrible lol. Customer service just didn't seem like a priority. Like I said, don't come here if you don't have the patience to wait. Also, our order of derby fries never came out. When we asked for it, the server said they're re-making it because it looked "ugly." In reality, I think they just forgot to make it LOL. So recently meeting with my person (like yesterday) he suggested the Shuffle Bar located inside Whole Foods. I love getting our weekly HH with him so I'm always down to try his new picks. Leaving from work in Alhambra, it's a relatively quick drive up to Pasadena. Parking plentiful, except for almost getting run over by a vehicle, I made it alive to try this place. I arrived around 5:30 pm, my person was probably there a few minutes before me and was there at the table. We looked through the HH menu and I have to say (my opinion) it didn't seem like there were tons of food choices to choose from. I really should have ordered the burger but it was my mistake. I wanted nachos but it was vegetarian (nothing wrong but really, I want my meat!) so I got the Poutine fries instead. My person got the quesadilla. I ordered the house white wine which was Chardonnay and he got a flight. Ordering in a timely fashion, I eventually had to check on my order because it didn't come out for about another 30 minutes give or take and every other patron before and after us all had their food. At least I had my drink! Now, I have to say, kudos to the staff here because one of them did come back and comp our meal (not drinks) because she did acknowledge that even to her, our meal was taking abnormally long to come out. I do appreciate that. I still wish I went with the burger. The Poutine fries were ok and the quesadilla was just alright. I've eaten here a few times, the last time being about a year ago, and couldn't rave enough about it. So when deciding what to eat today I thought, Shuffle Bar, since it's been a while, but man did it disappoint today. I ordered the cauliflower nachos (which we're my favorite before) and I knew as soon as it came out it wasn't gonna be good. It was served in a bowl, huge pieces of cauliflower, and maybe 2 jalapeño slices and a drizzle of the sauce--don't call em nachos if there's no sauce or pico de gallo--what happened to the delicious nachos I remember from a year ago?! My kids ordered wings and they came out cold and dry-when WingStop looks more appetizing there's a problem. The fish and chips were over fried and the fish was hard as a rock. I will say the manager did refund two of the meals, but I def don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. Side note-staff is super friendly and def need more help back there. read more

Just had a Pub Burger pre game with the #23 Krombacher German Pilsner. The Pub burger was ordered as a medium rare and came out as rare. The ONLY thing that was wrong with this burger. You get four massive pieces of sushi for a mere five dollars. The green sauce, red bell pepper, and carrot blend to create the perfect combination of creamy, spicy, and earthy flavors. The Jackfruit "Crab" Cakes are a little bland on their own. However, the pineapple sambal and spicy aioli save the dish completely, offering a tantalizingly fresh spicy flavor to the crispy jackfruit. The Beast Burger is to die for. With a smokey Beyond Meat patty, pickled onions and sriracha aioli provide and spicy, acidic kick to this scrumptious burger. The bun was a little dry and lackluster. The fries are nothing special, mediocre at best. Great for watching sports, a good happy hour, and enjoying beers. The service is excellent. Found this place to be pretty mediocre. Attached to the Whole Foods in the plaza. I ordered a sushi roll and the cauliflower "nachos". I'm certain that the waitress just brought the sushi roll over from the sushi bar refrigerator window in the whole foods food court. If I wanted pre-packaged sushi I would have just bought it from the food court to began with. The cauliflower nachos were very bland, the cauliflower is prepared in a tempura batter but overall very underwhelming, there was vegetables drizzled on top with a sauce but still lacking in flavor and presentation. I came here to relax, have dinner after work, and enjoy some wine. Had the worst night ever. So came here to retreat. Very unprofessional. He was too busy chit chatting with his friends to provide me any service. Only paid attention to the regulars instead of making new regulars. I was in the restaurant business for over 8 years and that's not how it's done. The previous server/bartender must have transferred me to him and left at some point. I can walk here from my house and I expect more. I just moved back home after 23 years. I have a right to expect better. I have been here three times this week.
