Shuko's Latin Restaurante was better than I thought. The location is not bad and prices are surprisingly decent. Shuko's is a fusion of Latin cuisine and American comfort food. The interior and decor is like Tex-Mex style, with fancy light fixtures. Their food arrives fresh and hot from the kitchen. The staff are kind and patient. Yes, Shuko's has a little bar inside and there's a Happy Hour special (I don't drink). There's a kids' menu too and they also serve breakfast. Their Shuko's (sandwiches) are a traditional and most iconic street food from Guatemala. These sandwiches are a must-try! Minor downside, refills on beverage (except water) costs extra. When I saw the name Shuko 502 in Deer Park, I thought no way, Guatemalan food out here. But to my surprise, it's more of a Central American fusion spot, with nods to several countries. Still, the name Shuko had me curious, it's one of Guatemala's most iconic street foods, so I had to try it. For those who don't know, a traditional Guatemalan shuko is street food done right: grilled bun, steamed hot dog, Guatemalan-style guacamole (no onions or tomatoes), sauerkraut, mustard, ketchup, and mayo. Their take here is a bit different no guac on mine, but still packed with flavor. A mix of grilled meats, sauerkraut, and condiments all stuffed into a roll. Definitely not traditional, but still tasty. I also tried one of their pupusas, and it hit the spot. A classic revuelta melted cheese and chicharrón oozing out of a perfectly griddled corn masa pocket. Comfort food, plain and simple. Only downside The fries. They were undercooked, a little limp. Just needed a bit more time in the fryer. But overall, if you're into street food with a Central American twist, Shuko 502 is worth the stop. read more

This restaurant opened up not too long ago and we finally decided to swing by. The service was fabulous. The green sauce was impeccable. Zero spice to it which is nice but still full of flavor. My wife enjoyed the salsa as well. The tables are beautiful and the food was absolutely amazing! The green spaghetti was a recommendation and I'm so glad I decided to try it. Holy cow! I haven't even finished half my meal yet, and I had to start this review. And I neglected to take photos of anything because I was too anxious to put the food in my face hole. So sorry! We ordered: Guacamole - served with a few seasoned housemade FLOUR tortilla chips (my favorite!) very flavorful, pico served with it. With it, they brought housemade corn tortilla chips and a super-flavorful chunky raw salsa that had lots of cilantro (yum!) and surprisingly... MINT! It was fantastic. The accompanying creamy green sauce (tomatillo or avocado??) was mild. Pupusas - pork, bean & cheese, and cheese. The curtido (pickled/herbed cabbage slaw) was delicioso! My husband picked out the flavor of thyme. Just yummy and a perfect accompaniment to the heavier pupusas. Shuko (traditional Guatemalan sandwich) - they have a couple. Mine has grilled beef skirt steak, grilled onions & peppers, grilled jalapeños, guacamole, queso flameado. The bread is so good. The beef tender and flavorful. The service is amazing. Belkis (she also goes by Becky) is super sweet and helped with food selection. The owners came over, and we chatted about ingredients, decor, and more. They gave me a red rose and a free dessert for Mother's Day, too! So nice. Give them a try! read more

The food is Latin with American taste served also. I had the Latin breakfast and it was so refreshing to have plantains. They were not too sweet and such a nice option to potatoes. The salsa here is wonderful. The herbs are a little different than what you are used to but again refreshing comes to mind. The staff is very attentive and friendly. I ordered pick up, was greeted right away very friendly, wanted to try their breakfast tacos and pupusas. The tacos were amazing, good amount food as well and the pupusa was alright but bad but maybe not as authentic as I'd like I think because they used black beans instead of the traditional? Great Option for the Deer Park area! I had the Blazemaster Shuko and a peach tea! Wife had the Green Spaghetti and a strawberry lemonade! My shuko was delicious lots of flavor and the fries were super crispy! I would ask for my steak chopped smaller next time just so its easier to bite, but that didn't stop me from devouring it. Wife enjoyed her Green Spaghetti and I tasted. It was very good! Definitely a tasty poblano sauce. Might get that next time. Place is super spacious, really hoping they make it! read more

Yes, Shuko's! Everything we ordered was amazing -definitely returning soon for cocktails. We had pork and cheese pupusas, Latin breakfast, and Shuko's sandwich with Brazilian lemonades. Nothing missed. Owner, Donna, was so nice. This place is nothing like the previous Mexican spot that was there prior. Free ice cream and patio seating options. My date and I were craving Latin food and came across Shuko's. When we arrived we saw they had a nice patio. The weather was comfortable so we decided to eat outside. Immediately we noticed it was a very clean establishment. I ordered the Hawaiian tacos on homemade corn tortillas and they didn't disappoint. They were absolutely delicious!
