This place is on the list of recommended food spots on Bowen Island, offering breakfast foods,…read moresandwiches and light bites. Nice view, friendly service, yummy foods and cozy ambiance makes for a relaxing cafe. Many locals come here to enjoy a soup and sandwich or simply to get a coffee and chill. It's nice & warm to sit by the fireplace to catch up with a friend. And it's a reasonably quiet space where you may find a spot by the window and work on your laptop. I enjoyed their soups and I also liked their pastries and breads. The Godfather sandwich was yummy and their focaccia breads are to my liking. They also have weekend specials which I would recommend trying as they are usually delicious. One of my favorite food combo here: lentil soup and quinoa salad. I find their healthy dishes here are quite good and I am not a huge fan of their "not so healthy" items or fried foods such as fries or chicken fingers. Their menu features a variety of drink options from hot teas to bubbly drinks, or you may choose to add a shot of Bailey or Kahlua to your coffees. Do budget ample time to dine here because they make your foods fresh to order plus there's usually a small line up. This is a cute spot to stop for a bite when visiting Artisan Square and worth the hike on a nice day. Approximately 5 min drive from Snug Cove and can park for free in the Artisan Square parking lot.

We bought a few things from this little bakery and unfortunately, most of the items were a bit…read moredisappointing either because they weren't what we expected or were sweeter than we liked. We got the Key Lime Tart which was too heavy on the cream cheese with not enough citrus flavour making it taste more like a cheesecake than a tart. The almond apple tart had a lot of frangipane and a good tart crust but the apple part was missing. The carrot cake slice didnt have enough tang in the cream cheese frosting and the flavours of the cake fell flat. Their other baked goods were a bit better with the berry muffin being not too oily or sweet but a bit dry, the texture of the jalapeño and cheddar scone was fluffy and light but I could hardly taste any cheese. The veggie puff was the favourite being flavourful and light. We also grabbed a bag of their white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies (gf) and molasses cookies because they were day olds and half off and these were some of the better treats we tried from here. Overall, we had high expectations and were unfortunately let down by the treats at Sandy's.

Excellent vegan pastries if price is no object…read more Chocolate Cheesecake was good 4/5. Lemon Cheesecake was the standout 5/5. Baked Donuts start at 3 for $9, 6 for $15 and a dozen for $24. Flavour of Double Chocolate vegan cookie is what you'd expect, but done to soft perfection 5/5. Six for $8 or a dozen for $15.

I tried Vogue Cakes, and it was such a sweet little treat stop…read more I had their shortbread cookies (Earl Grey, lemon, orange), glazed and generously sized--big enough that I could easily save half for later... though "saving" is always the intention, not the reality My absolute favourite was their Black Forest croissant (part of the Vancouver Croissant Crawl ). It was filled with cherry and whipped cream--flaky, creamy, fruity, and honestly unforgettable. I haven't seen it since, which makes it even more of a "once in a while magic" kind of pastry. And then--something rare in the vegan world--the millefeuille!! I had it once, and it fully satisfied my sweet tooth. It's actually one of my childhood favourite pastries, so this felt extra special. The shop itself is very small, more of a grab-and-go spot than a sit-down café, but the pastries really speak for themselves. A tiny place with big dessert energy
