    Hot chocolate and pastry
    Nelson C.

The pastries here are amazing and most are under $7. My favorite is the double hot dog which they warm up for you. They also have a wonderful hot chocolate! Large is $6. Medium is $5. Their coffee and specialty coffees are around $3-5. The ambiance is really nice. Like a Parisienne Cafe. They have a large picture of the Eiffel tower in the back wall. Staff is friendly. It's a nice place to grab a bite with a friend or just by yourself with a book while looking out the window.

Thomas Haas and and any of the Asian bakeries have a bit of competition. Especially for the 法式腸仔包. The staple of HK baking, IMHO, is the wiener bun. So bastardized, it's an instant classic. See my pic! The French version is here. This is the brick and mortar outpost of their commissary bakery from Burnaby in the Still Creek area. I'm glad they're out here. They replaced another French bakery that was the former occupant. First impressions: They're new, clean and quaint inside. Coffee is available along with all the baked goodness. The pastries are quite good. Thomas Haas has a bit of competition, but these guys are further west. I'll have to give Thomas Haas the edge interms of overall flakiness. Ca Croustille is a close second. I should have gotten that weenie bun. It'd be interesting to see how that stacks up against Annas or any other Asian bakery. Next time.

Pain aux Raisins + London Fog

Very nice French bakery and café! Comfortable environment with very nice staff - everyone seems happy to be there. I just visited a few times and tried: Roasted veggies sando: The combination of zucchini, eggplant, peppers, and boursin is a winner. The roasted veggies practically melted in my mouth. Flan: The eggy vanilla custard was so good! Thick and rich but not stiff. Strong essence of vanilla bean. Pain aux Raisins: I loved the tenderness of the pastry! There was a satisfying pull and a rich flavour to the dough. Lots of juicy raisins too! Every bite was heaven! Cappuccino (decaf): On the bitter side - not in a bad way, I thought, but if you dislike a little bitterness in your coffee, this may not be for you. Well-made with the right foam-milk-espresso ratios. London Fog: Good tea and not too sweet! Runs slightly on the expensive side, but the quality holds up! I will say the $1 up charge for non-dairy milk on a 6 oz cappuccino (which uses only 3-4 oz of milk) is silly; they should consider implementing a smaller fee for smaller drinks.

The best delicious Almond Croissant in Vancouver! Perfect crunch with every bite with generous almond filling. The service is great!

What a lovely little café/bakery! Emphasis on lovely, and emphasis on little…read more I met a friend here today for a coffee. She lives in the area so has been here many times before. She said the cakes are wonderful and she orders them here for special occasions. Of course, it was all new to me, so I checked out the display of gorgeous cakes and tarts, and the platters of various cookies and pastries, too. The cakes seemed to be priced from $35-50, which I know is on a par with cake pricing in the city. They all looked beautiful. The small tarts looked to-die-for, but they were $9. That's a lot more than the tarts I've seen anywhere else, really, so I steered away from those. I got a croissant for $4 and a chai latte for $4.50. The croissant was ok. Not the fluffiest I've ever had, but okay. The chai latte was fantastic, one of the best I've had, really. And at the cash they had a plate of gold foiled-covered large homemade caramels, and I got two. Just had one just now and OMG, if you like caramel (as I do), you MUST try these. Truly unbelievably good! As I mentioned in my first paragraph, this place is quite tiny. Like, they had three small tables that seat two people each. (Maybe four, but I think three). So if you plan on meeting a friend for coffee here and dining inside, I'd recommend going at an off-time, for sure. (If it's nice out, there'd be some seating outside. But hey, winter is upon us). One added benefit here: there is plenty of free street parking, all around the cafe. Nice!

I'm not sure if I kept walking by on a Monday but it was my first time being able to go in during operating hours. I had a bacon and cheddar waffle warmed up to eat and it was perfectly filled with bits of cheddar and bacon and very balanced! Not greasy and a great light bite to eat. I also ordered a dark chocolate covered and matcha covered waffle to go. They had the perfect texture, a tad chewy (just how we like it) with a light coating of the matcha and chocolate. There are a few tables to grab a seat in their bright shop to eat and I saw they have a nice waffle menu for breakfast/brunch/lunch plus an assortment of other goodies to order like quiches, tarts, croissants and sandwiches. It was a calm environment and you can grab a seat by the window to read a book or work on your laptop a bit if you're coming solo. Of course you can also grab your standard coffee shop drinks as well to accompany your treats. Staff were friendly in answering my questions and it was a great first experience. I'll be back!

Well it seems ownership has changed and the new owner doesn't give two craps about prior customers, honoring discounts, replying back timely or being more friendly? Was playing email tag and finally submitted the 39 flavors and didn't hear back until after another week and then told they won't deliver only in morning when they know our reservation was for 730pm and they're open until 9? I even replied back and nothing. We own and run several business in lower mainland and in United States and this customer service from Unni Pastries is trash. At least you can do is reply back and apologize? For wasting time when I specifically told you it's for family and friends flying into town for a funeral burial. Will never use their business again. I highly suggest Mello. They replied and helped me out last minute. Shame on you! Learn how to run a business and treat customers esp previous customers who were supporting the business and fellow Krn but it's clear the new owner doesn't care about the customer or quality it's all about quantity. Maybe my 39 donuts which I offered to pay extra for time and packaging wasn't large enough but money is money. Especially during this time and economy. You should've at least replied back and even tried asking us to do pickup as the restaurant is down the road. Do better! Go to Mello which isn't too far and they bake fresh daily better pricing and reviews and consistency!
