The tofu was nice and spicy. However, I wasn't a fan. It's not the ma po tofu taste that I am used to; hard to describe. I guess it had a much stronger taste to it. Regardless, it was still good. The beef chow fun was just ok. The beef was extremely soft & not in a good way- it tasted like it almost wasn't meat. The noodles were nice and chewy though. I would not get the beef chow fun again. Siam Café is a favorite with Clevelanders who like Chinese, Cantonese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. They make many Chinese American favorites very well like sweet-and-sour chicken and General Tso's chicken but I would recommend going there and trying something from the authentic Chinese/Cantonese menu. For example, try some of the stir fried snow pea tips (the tender shoots of the pea pod plant) with garlic. Follow that with pork belly braised with taro root (which is what poi is made from). Enjoy "Two Flavors" fried rice, a large platter of fried rice topped on one half by a creamy sauce with juicy shrimp and the other half covered by a tangy chicken in tomato gravy. They serve some great Vietnamese dishes like pho (rice noodle soup) and bun (rice noodle bowls). If you are craving Thai, they make a mean pad Thai and a really delicious hot basil chicken. The hot basil chicken dish is comprised of minced chicken stirfry in hot spices which is accompanied by white rice. They have a number of desserts but my favorite is to order something called "sam sik bing" which is a parfait that has various tropical fruits and jellies in a sweet coconut milk drink. It was a big sweet, creamy, and packed with seafood. I also recommend their crispy squid because it was made very well and delicious. I loved their black pepper scallops because the sauce was sweet and peppery, very different but good. Their cold platter was delicious, if you like jellyfish. Staff was very nice and helpful in recommending dishes and accomodating! Their dishes are interesting because they have specific dishes for Thai, Chinese, Viet, and others, but they also have mixes of these culturally rich foods. All of the dishes we got ranges from $13-$18. It was authentic and a pretty decent portion! There's a parking lot and if you're not paying attention, you might pass this little gem. I have been to Siam Cafe a few times now and have only sampled a small number of dishes from their giant menu. The service has always been good. I have everything that I have ordered so far. The menu is broken down by the type of meat and not cuisine. I don't know if that is helpful or not. Siam is a good place to go if you would just like to try something on a whim. I am sure some things on the menu are better than others but... I will quote Prodigy from Mobb Deep even though it barely applies: Life is a gamble, we scramble for money. The food used to be so good when I came here during my younger days, now it's just not the same. During the last 5 years, I would pop in to order something hoping it was probably a new cook or just a bad day but I was still disappointed time and time again. 1. All of the meals are either super oily or too much salt even if you ask for no salt 2. The vietnamese noodle soups have no flavor 3. My favorite used to be seafood yum yum, now it's mainly filled with imitation crab meat and barely any other seafood 4. Last time I went, I ordered a soup with veggies and pineapple in it. It's usually one of my favorites as well. Too salty I couldn't eat it. I had to come home to dilute it before consumed. Think the only thing they didn't mess up for me was the goi coun. I'm always a bit cautious when I come across Asian restaurants that try to serve multiple Asian cuisines - more often than not, they don't end up doing any of them really well. From the Yelp reviews - there are a number of folks that really like this place - which drew me to it. When I entered, I immediately noted a lot of folks with Asian ancestry - which to my mind is a good sign - that the food is good enough that it attracts a fan base of folks from those countries of origin. But I also noticed an odd funky, unpleasant smell - my guess is that it is the carpeting. If I was running the restaurant, I rip out the carpet and replace it with some sort of durable tile that does not adsorb or emanate odors. I came in for dinner - in a Thai kind of mood. I was curious to see what they had in the way of Thai offerings. Turns out - not as much as I had hoped for. I immediately spotted the Tom Yum soup - they serve it with shrimp, which was fine. I was also looking for Som Tom (Papaya Salad) and Kee Mao Gai (Kai?) - basically Drunken Noodles. They offered neither. My first waitress did not understand what I was asking about - so they sent over someone more experienced - she advised they offered neither of those dishes. So I went with the Tom Yum soup - I ordered a large, extra spicy. I asked how large a large was - turns out, it was waaayyyyy larger than I was expecting. They brought out this massive bowl full of soup (larger than a large bowl of Pho Ga for reference) - with a ladle, and a small cup to ladle the soup into. This bowl of soup would be something a group would order - and then share. The soup was very average and bland. It was not extra spicy. I added some Sriracha sauce to each small bowl to give it a bit of zip. The shrimp in the soup were cooked perfectly - tender and not overdone. I have to say this is some of the most mediocre Som Tum I have ever eaten. In any case, the service was good. read more

Visiting Cleveland for a few days with my boyfriend and the parents. After 2 days of eating American food, they wanted Chinese. So glad, I planned to visit this place and we, they were pretty happy. Atmosphere wise, it's nice. Bunch of regulars and many none Asians regular. I heard things like "see you next week!" This is Cleveland, so I wasn't surprised that there weren't that many Asians. Every family has a go to dinner spot and this was mine growing up! We celebrated all birthdays, pre-wedding dinners, and sometimes even smaller holidays with dinner at Siam Cafe. My favorite dish of all time is their Walnut Shrimp with Steamed Broccoli. Add a cup of white rice to it and voila, what a delicious meal! Delicious food, poor service. I had such high hopes! I went to Siam cafe on a Monday after work around 5 pm with two of my coworkers. It wasn't very busy at first but did slightly pick up as the night went on. None of our food came out at the same time - each was served separately with at least 20-30 minutes between each of us. It took probably 45 minutes to get the first dish. They forgot about my friends wine, and also forgot about my other friends spring rolls. Had to remind for both of them. The food absolutely was delicious - but we essentially all ate our meals by ourselves because of how long it took each of us to get our food. Really unfortunate :( I did appreciate the prices ($5 house wine!) and the sheer variety of options they offer for food. Perhaps that is why they take so long? Maybe a pared down menu would help with that issue. In the future, I would certainly order this food for delivery but I don't think I'll frequent the restaurant itself again anytime soon. read more

This was my family's favorite place to go to. I realized I hadn't been back in a while - almost 2 years! So, I went there for lunch today. HUGE disappointment. Food tasted different. Dip for the summer rolls tasted sour, the summer rolls were too crunchy due to too much veggie filler, & my shrimp lo mein had no flavor I asked for a small plate, because they didn't offer their lunch specials today. I never got it, so I used the plate my summer rolls came on. No one checked to see how the food was, only to refill my water. They boxed up my leftovers to go. I waited about 10 minutes, but I never got a bill. Since I requested a to-to order as well, I went to the cashiers station to let them know I wanted to pay. They were prompt with that! This place was packed when we came in for dinner, but luckily we made a reservation since it was a big group. There is a private parking lot in the front which is very convenient but was full so you might have to wait a bit. It took long for them to seat us and even give water or menus. In addition, they did not have enough menus. The food came out quickly and no one's order was messed up which was very impressive! Unfortunately, I felt that the food was okay. I got the tofu pad thai and requested that it was spicy. There was absolutely no spice and I added a lot of the chili oil in order to have some flavor. Moreover, the tofu was barely cooked, leading to a dissatisfying taste. Maybe I messed up by getting a Thai entree but I would not come back here. The plus of this place is that you get a lot of food for the cost and it can even last you two meals. read more

This used to be our favorite place in Cleveland. Unfortunately, today will be our last visit. We had INSECTS in our tea pot!!! The pot was full of them, and we noticed at the end of our meal when the bugs were swimming in our tea cups. If the INSECTS had not been swimming about we would have never known! When we opened the pot there were many! Not only is this disgusting, but the way it was handle was even more disappointing. The establishment decided to take the tea off our almost $80 bill (which we were made to pay anyway). This makes me wonder the cleanliness of their staff and the kitchen where they store their food. We have our favorite dishes, like the Hot Basil Grounded Chicken, Pad Thai, Deep Fried Squid w/Spicy Salt and Vietnamese Hot & Sour Soup w/Shrimp. The menu is large and diverse so there should be a great option for any member of your group, adventurous or not. You know you're at an authentic restaurant when you're the minority (since I'm a Caucasian male) and this makes me happy. The portions are typically generous. The service is attentive. All of the meals at our table seemed to be poorly prepared, and each plate came out separately. The last meal was served at least 30 minutes after the first was put down. T he food was very compromised and lacking in flavor and proper finish. I started my meal out with Tom Kar Gai soup which was chicken soup with coconut milk, galanga and lime juice. It was very good but too hot to eat until it cooled down. My dinner was Com Ga Nuong Xa. This was grilled chicken with lemongrass over steamed rice. Delicious! The lemongrass sauce came in a separate cup for you to pour. So much food that I got to take it home. It tasted even better the next day. Some items don't have an English version below the name. When you walk in the door there is a to go menu. It has a description for everything (found that out when I grabbed on going out the door). I just drove past and was looking around for a place to grab a snack. I ended up getting dinner. I have been going to this restaurant for years with my family! This is our usual go to place when we have out of town guests, a celebration, or just to have a nice family dinner. The food is always consistent and delicious. Service is always amazing and prompt! Because of the pandemic we do not go out to eat as much but I'm glad they still do take out service! I've never ordered take out from here before until last week and the food is just as good as it is when you sit down and eat it in the restaurant. The baked spicy squid (calamari) is so delicious and crunchy that my family and I usually have to make 2 orders of this because it does not last long. The Beijing pork chop is a nice sweet flavored sauce. Since this is a traditional Asian restaurant they do chop their pork with the bones, so just be careful when eating it because you might get bits and pieces of bones within your meat. I used to be a little discouraged with their walnut shrimp because of how it looks, but it is delicious! The shrimp is huge and the walnut gives it texture. It is a little on the sweeter side but I feel like the broccoli helps balance out the sweetness. Vietnamese is our absolute favorite cuisine so we knew exactly what to order and they had everything! (On our travels, if a Vietnamese restaurant doesn't have the crepe (Banh Xeo), it gets skipped!?). We ordered online and could pick our specific time for pick-up....GENIUS!! We were way early due to zero traffic and ride-shares being on top of us every time (also very great) but they got straight to our order (luckily not busy right after opening). Service is always great and the place is really packed on weekends. They have fresh, live tilapia, flounder, crab, and lobster in the tanks in the dining room. We typically order the family style Chinese dinners which come with soup, an assortment of entrees that you can pick from, and sweet taro tapioca for dessert. If you don't like any of the family dinner menu choices, substitutions are no problem! My family really likes their Pad Thai, fried whole chicken, and the Beef Tenderloin with Asian Greens.
