Fish cakes were small and perfectly uniform - almost like they were frozen rather than prepared on site. Green curry had some spice but was mostly one note, there just wasn't much depth of flavor. Vegetables were all cut in huge hunks - both dishes had giant pieces of red bell peppers and onions. Fried rice was pretty bland and barely had any Chinese broccoli in it. Ambiance was bare bones - you order at the counter and they bring you your food and plastic side plates. Half the tables were stacked with boxes and bags of takeout orders. To top it off there's no bathroom, we were told to use the bathroom at another local business. If I'm gonna spend $60 somewhere, I expect to be able to wash my hands before eating and use the restroom. Perhaps there are some specialty dishes that we didn't try but this was my 2nd time ordering from here (I got take out once before) and both times the food was pretty bland. A truly underwhelming experience - especially when there are so many better restaurants in the area.

Even after this toxic, unprovoked attack on my parenting, I still paid for our food and walked out of the restaurant crying. It was a deeply degrading and traumatic experience. Families, parents, and anyone expecting basic human decency should stay far away from this establishment.

I ordered delivery through Yelp/Grubhub today. The driver went above and beyond, calling me with updates from the restaurant letting me know they were slammed so the food was taking longer than normal, etc. I ordered: Drunken Noodles w/chicken Panang Curry w/chicken Siam Fried Rice w/chicken Sticky Rice w/mango The Drunken Noodles are the only reason why this review is not one star. The noodles are cooked well, the sauce is sweet and salty, and it is a very satisfying dish. The rice that came with the Panang Curry was old and was on the verge of going bad. It smelled slightly sour and tasted slightly sour. When I pay people to make food for me to feed my family, I expect 100% of the effort for 100% of the price. When I called the restaurant to notify them of the issue, the manager tried to teach me how long grain rice was supposed to look like and said "we eat the rice so I don't see what the issue is." I offered to bring the rice back to them so they could see what I was talking about but she brushed it off and just said she was going to refund me. Due to the white rice being on the verge of going bad, I did not want to risk feeding my children the fried rice because the seasonings could mask bad rice as well. It smelled nice but we did not eat it. The sticky rice was ok at best. Mangoes were not ripe. If the management of Siam had been more receptive of feedback instead of arguing with me and dismissing the issues I was bringing up, I would give them another shot. However, due to their lack of care for the customer, I will not be ordering from this establishment again. read more

I decided to come here when my family came to visit the other Friday. To my surprise, the place was rather empty for a Friday afternoon, with just one other party there. Perhaps it was just the timing, but it did give the place a more serene atmosphere. Now, diving into the food - I felt that the prices were a bit steep, especially considering the typical Somerville range. My party and I ordered the yellow curry, sweet and sour pork, and sesame beef. While the sesame beef was passable, the sweet and sour pork left a lot to be desired. The carrots in the dish weren't cooked thoroughly, which was a letdown. The amount of sauce was overwhelming compared to the amount of rice that was provided. However, on the upside, the servers here were genuinely nice and kind, making the overall experience a bit better. While I appreciate the effort, I'm not sure if I'd be rushing back anytime soon with other Asian food in the area. read more

This place is awesome! I read a review in the Boston Globe on Sweet Ginger earlier this month and decided to check it out for myself...it's a homerun! The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. The food, especially the pad kra-pow and crab rangoon is DELICIOUS! Also a noteworthy mention for the coconut ice cream with sticky rice and the thai iced tea. Everything was to my liking, but I have to say, my favorite dish was the duck, and that's only so far. Decor was bright and wide open proving less is more in this quaint modern Thai restaurant. Eggplant Delight and Rama Garden are by far my favorite dishes with Siam rolls for appetizer and their lovely hot tea. The atmosphere is relaxing and quiet with outdoor seating, season permitting.
