Siam Smiles is located in a little strip mall on Hwy 34 in Matawan. It's changed names and owners a couple of times, and has managed to remain a very good place for authentic Thai. Prior to Siam Smiles, it was called "Noodles and More." Based on the name, I don't think it was obvoius to the masses that it was Thai. The restaurant is very small, maybe ten tables at most. The people there are friendly, but there can sometimes be a language barrier. It's BYO with a liquor store right in the same strip mall. The menu is pretty basic..All the classic Thai dishes are there and very reasonably priced. The food itself is fresh and authentic. Great flavors. Every once in a while the beef or shrimp is overcooked, but typically the food is consistently good. If you crave reasonably priced authentic Thai and don't mind the lack of ambience, Siam smiles fits the bill. read more

wow. wow. wow. We used to frequent Cafe de Thai almost weekly. It used to be such a gem. When siam first opened, we went there. the service had been flustered and very bad. there were 6 of us and every single one of our dishes came at separate times! so.... almost half a year later, we decided to go back for another try. this time there was 6 of us. What a difference. The food was delicious and i was very particular about my dish being light and not greasy/heavy. They accomodated every request with smiles and a great hope to please. The service was excellent ... again, food was GREAT. it is not your typical grease spot. the food is healthy, light and very delicious! the people are really nice and pleasant. read more

Great place.Food here is very good we sat down and had a few appetizers the scallop and shrimp dumplings and the curry puffs were great. My boyfriend and I tried this place for the first time last night. We enjoyed the great food and service. We had the curry puffs and shrimp and scallop dumplings for appetizer. The curry puffs were amazing. The dumplings were okay, I wasn't crazy about them. My boyfriend had a hot & sour type soup and some crispy pork dish that had string beans and carrots and I had the pad thai. That was all very delicious! For dessert we had sticky rice with vanilla ice cream and it too was very yummy. I would have given 5 stars, but bc I didn't love the dumplings I will give it a 4. Also, the place is small, but super cute. We will definitely be going back. :) read more

Just got back from another great meal at Siam Smiles. Living in NYC, I can honestly say that you'd be hard pressed to find a thai restaurant there that tastes as good as S.S. I wandered in here with my wife a couple weeks ago while in town and just had to take my parents here as well. They were also impressed with how tasty and fresh everything was. In particular, we ordered a special order of green mussels which were tasty, the tom yum soup is legit. The pad thai and siam noodles were both delicious. Tasty, spicy and with the perfect blend of authentic thai flavors. I am not sure what the last person was speaking of with respect to the "lack luster" service, but from what we've experienced, the restaurant seems to be family owned and service has always been very hospitable. In any case, I would say this restaurant is well worth a visit. Or at the very least, a delivery order! Oh the curries are great as well, I have tried both the massaman and panang. Both delicious. Thai iced teas are great as well, not too sweet. First time writing a review, because I think Siam deserves much more business, it's truly a hidden gem in Jersey! read more

My wife and l live in Aberdeen NJ and love Thai food. While we liked Cafe de Thai, we LOVE Siam Smiles, the new Thai restaurant that replaced Cafe de Thai. This is some of the best tasting Thai food that we have ever eaten, and that includes several places that we have eaten at in Manhattan and North Jersey. We have eaten at Siam Smiles around 8-10 times so far, and we have never had a dish that we didn't like! This includes the curries and the noodle dishes as well as the listed "entrees." Also note that portions are copious, prices are reasonable, service is friendly, and you can have brown rice instead of white rice if you want. BYOB. read more

Worst experience. DO NOT go here for lunch. There is one harried waitress (the owner) serving the entire restaurant - the last time I was here we waited for an hour for our food to arrive. This time the food was literally shoved on the table as if they were doing us a favor! The orders were screwed up (no tofu in two dishes), the portions have become non existent so we came out of the restaurant still hungry!! Complaining didnt help either - the attitude was take it or leave it. What a shame - this place used to be our favorite haunt -- now I'm not going back. read more

WOW!!!! This is the best Thai I have ever been to!!!! We started with the Shrimp spring rolls, amazing and the green sauce was to die for!!! ,and Shimp and scallops dumplings. The Thai iced tea was very, very good and authentic! Our main courses were the house salad with peanut dressing, scallop curry(thai hot), triple delight, Pad See Ew and Ped Rag Prig also Thai hot!!!! Dessert we went with Mango with sticky rice and coconut milk, fried cheesecake, green tea ice cream and fried banana with ice cream!!!! Everything we had was of the highest quality and freshest ingredients and most importantly made with love!!! The service was very friendly and the prices were great!!!! This is my first and last time I will eat here. I made a simple request. I asked for clear noodle with my Pad Thai and they told me it wouldn't work with this dish. I had food taken out from there yesterday. However, I didn't find it tasty at all and the quantity was so less. It was too expensive for the amount for the food they gave. Went in famished, walked out dissatisfied. There was a single waitress, waiting all the tables, doing the carry-outs, and the bills to boot. The waitress was so harrowed we felt bad to ask her for anything, including a water refill.There was a mix-up of dishes after a prolonged wait, and the portions have become smaller.
