[[HIGHLIGHT]]This little spot is a nice vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I drank two margaritas while I waited for my food. Everything was super seasoned. They also have happy hour on some days. The staff were really cool.

Whole wings w/ honey garlic sauce and side of green beans. Also pictured is what's left of the cornbread.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Pulled up to find the place slightly packed for a Wed. evening - definitely a good sign.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I initially had my heart set on demolishing a shrimp basket, but they were out. Tragic. Ended up with the whole chicken wings and green beans (yes, I paid the extra $2 to skip the fries, because apparently that's who I am now). Took one bite of the cornbread that came with the meal before I even pulled off and instantly knew I'd made the right choice. The green beans? Seasoned like somebody's grandmama was back there. They didn't stand a chance after my first forkful. Wings came out hot enough to make me question my fingerprints but mama ain't raise no quitter. Staff were friendly and helpful over the phone and when I arrived. I would risk disappointment over shrimp again!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I love this place! It smells great before you step in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wish I had time to stop in every visit to Richmond. I do not eat enough soul food and its hard to find a good one when traveling. I had the fish (whiting) and one side. All the right temperature and seasoning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I ate in and used the restroom. No issues with either.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A young man helped me and that went well. It was a weekday Friday between 11-1pm. There were two other tables dining in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and warm (early March).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You know what I have a photo from my IG *posted*

I was in the area at an event at the convention center and decided to give Side Chic a try. It's a family owned and run black business. Upon arrival we were greeted immediately and seated after a few mins. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is spacious and well lit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The wife/mom and daughter were bussing tables and the mom said their daughter is the side chic. She was so cute maybe 4 or 5 years old and already helping with the family business.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wife shared that her daughter was the inspiration for the logo and her husband was the one who drew the logo. Our server (I think her name was Taylor) came over and took our order. I went with the peach lemonade, shrimp and fries basket and 6 piece honey garlic wings. Everything is made fresh to order so it did take some time to come out. We wanted the wings as an appetizer but it came out after our entrees. The husband/father who introduced himself as Lou was one of the staff to drop off food to our table. He was very polite and even shared his plans about updating the logo when we asked about his process with drawing it. The food was super delicious. My eyes were bigger than my belly cause I ordered more than I could eat. Everything was seasoned well and fried to perfection. The leftovers heated nicely the next day. Overall, great customer service, tasty food and reasonable prices. I definitely recommend.

The service was great! We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Our food was cooked fresh and was delicious we got honey garlic and buffalo Thai chili. The wings were a good size. We also tried the mac & cheese which I didn't care for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside was nicely decorated with pink and black.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Lu and his wife were super sweet! My friend and I visited on the 4th of July with the intention of getting wings and a few other things, but they were sold out of the wings! I was so sad, because the wings looked sooo good on social media but we decided to get a chicken sandwich, shrimp, fish, and a variety of sides. Everything was seasoned very well and is made cook to order so it's fresh! Our food took about 20 minutes after ordering. My friend and I sat and watched tv near one of the screens they had. The portion sizes were pretty good; the catfish is HUGEEEEE. We really enjoyed everything we had. My friend especially enjoyed the potato salad. I'm a little sad they ran out of chicken, but I understand that it was a holiday. We were actually one of the last customers of the day because they had sold out of everything after us. Wishing this business the best of luck and I can't wait to come back to try the chicken!

I visited Side Chic for the first time on a late Friday afternoon. The restaurant was completely empty although I did see a woman stop in to pick up her phone order. The gentleman at the register was very helpful and polite. I ordered 4 chicken tenders and 6 wings along with Carla's sauce and honey garlic sauce on the side. I was informed that their wings are fresh and made to order, so it would take about 15 minutes to prepare. He recommended that I call in next time to avoid the wait, but I wasn't in a hurry and didn't mind. I posted up and watched some TV (they have four flat screens hanging). My wait time was a little over 20 minutes. I typically check my takeout before leaving the restaurant (or my parking space), but it's not a perfect record. That day, I wish I had. The chicken tenders were great. Nicely seasoned, a bit crispy, perfectly sized. The wing dings had potential and were even more seasoned than the tenders; however, 5 out of 6 of them wanted to fly away. As you can see in my photos, the wings were not properly cleaned as they still had visible feathers in the skin. And, one of my sauces was missing. The wings and tenders were packaged in the same container which wasn't a huge deal since they were all for me, but just be aware of this in case you're buying food for multiple people. I called the restaurant to attempt to resolve the feather issue, but I was told by the gentleman who assisted me earlier that he would need to have his manager call me back. I visited the restaurant on Friday, April 19th, but as of the time of this review, I have not received a call back. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I wanted to continue to patronize this business because the food does actually taste great, but the feathery wings in addition to the failure to return my call just doesn't cut it for me.

Taste Be Found!!!! Was my reaction to Side Chic!!! I was so hype to try this establishment, due to the reviews on Instagram, bad choice...the service was ok after waiting about 15 minutes in a half empty restaurant between being seated and waited on...the staff were not dressed the best, rather sloppy in my opinion, the food can you say bland 10x we had the Big Daddy chicken sandwich with Carla sauce,2/10 it was blah, & tasteless...the chicken was cooked nicely, and the sandwich presented well...but was not seasoned at all!!! The fries were tasty 5/10, the mac & cheese was ok, but dry 4/10...the lemonade bussin...I won't be returning

Stumbled across this small gem while in RVA. Definitely glad to have found it. Great menu and appreciated the special of the day. 3 wings with a side and corn bread. I have three wings with green beans and added potato salad. Daughter had wings with fries. Everything was great, chicken dropped fresh so a few minute wait but soooo worth it! The green beans and potato salad was some of the best I've had ( definitely a family recipe) Owner was very attentive and nice (thanks Lou) allowed us to eat inside even though they were about to close. Will definitely be back, try them out!

Finally came here after passing by for a couple months now, since I moved into the area I've been super curious to stop in. I love the name and the location is literally walking distance from my place! I will say I met the owner who was super nice and the vibe was very friendly, I felt like I was hanging out with people I grew up with very personable and even had a regular stop in and we just all enjoyed casual conversation. I ordered to go so I enjoyed a nice cold beer while I waited, they have a really nice beer selection. Now for the food, I got fried chicken wings, with side of Mac n cheese, and it came with a muffin. The chicken wings weren't that bad, but for it to be a chicken place I thought it would be a little less basic, and it was a little too bready for me, and not as seasoned as I would've preferred. I'm sorry to say this but the Mac n cheese was not good at all, I actually had to throw it away I couldn't finish it. The noodles and cheese were hard and greasy. It's almost like they scraped the bottom of the barrel and gave it to me to eat. I mean the amount of oil was enough to cause heart palpitations, I really want to believe maybe I got a bad batch, because at first they said the Mac n cheese was all gone, and then came back and said they actually did have some, so maybe it really was scraped from the bottom of the barrel lol! The menus is pretty large so if I did come back I would maybe try a chicken sandwich, but staying faaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from the Mac cheese! The muffin was good though!

    Chicken sandwich with Cajun Fries

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Visited yesterday and got the hot chicken sandwich meal with a lemonade! It was delicious and a pleasant environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Received a student discount and very appreciative! Service was amazing!

Very excited to try this restaurant. Service here is top notch. I'm convinced Virginians are just pleasant people to be around. Our server was very polite and friendly. We got lemon pepper wings, honey garlic wings, Cajun fries, and a side of Mac and cheese... fries aren't really my thing but they were ok. Now on to the wings, very meaty, fresh, well seasoned all the way to the bone. Definitely on my list of best wings in Richmond. The Mac and cheese was really good, different from what I'm use to but good nonetheless. They also have beer you can purchase as well as fountain drinks so I got some Stella Artois and come sweat tea and lemonade. The lemonade was too sweet for me but the sweat tea was just fine, and homemade and freshly brewed, I enjoyed that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely good for groups and dates they are open as late as 3 am on weekends which is cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute ambience casual.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll definitely be back.

    Lemon Pepper Wings (wet)

Went to Side Chic on a short stay. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small space, but they're pushing out some amazing wings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Get the lemon pepper (wet), and they were great. Everything is cooked fresh so we did have to wait only about minutes, which was fine because the food came out hot. The best part of the experience were the staff. They were very patient, and explained everything on the menu. My only critique would be little feathers still being left on the wings. As a person who cooks, I do know they are hard to remove, so it didn't bother us much!

The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. It had the perfect amount of heat: enough to bring some spice without overpowering the flavor. On the side, I ordered the green beans after our bartender/server highly recommended them. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. My partner chose the mac and cheese, which was the superior side (although both were excellent). The service was friendly, attentive, and genuine throughout the evening. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances. One of my favorite parts of the evening was chatting with another guest at the bar. He and his wife shared several entrées with their young son, and they couldn't stop raving about the short ribs--which their son happily claimed for himself by the end of the meal! They also highly recommended the salmon, so we've already got ideas for our next visit. The only real downside has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: parking in Scott's Addition can be a challenge. I'd recommend allowing yourself some extra time to find a spot or, even better, taking a rideshare so you can start enjoying your evening right away. Lunch. Supper! has earned its reputation as a longtime Richmond favorite. Great food, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere make this an easy five-star recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

It is fast casual - you order at the kiosk and grab a place to eat, listening for your number and/or text to alert you the food is ready. We arrived about 6pm on a Saturday night. We walked in to find the staff bustling, cooking, and prepping orders, and the smell of some delicious fried chicken in the air. I saw the kiosks and was not too thrilled with the Wawa experience, but we gave it a shot anyway, since fried chicken is one of our favorites. The process was simple and allowed us to add or remove anything we could want, so that was nice. While walking to find a seat, we saw a person panhandling in the dining area, but the staff promptly removed him from the premises. I ordered us the Pimento Cheese Balls for an appetizer, and I chose the Fried Chicken and French Toast as my entree because I always try the "chicken and waffles" at every establishment that offers it. My partner ordered the OG Chicken Sandwich without tomato, and it came with crinkle-cut fries. It was about $40. The chef proclaimed our order was ready in quick succession, maybe three orders behind the guests before us. We waited about ten minutes, maybe fifteen at most. We picked up the orders from the counter, and there was a mix-up on the syrup, but the chef promptly rectified the situation. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy; straight to the point. He seemed firm, yet kind. It was clear the day had been a busy one; he even told us as much, which was great to hear (busy = fantastic food). The French toast squares looked like rye or pumpernickel, and they emitted a sweet aroma, a delightful hit of cinnamon and brown sugar. I drizzled the caramel syrup on my chicken and toast, sliced a piece, and paired a bite of chicken with the toast. I closed my eyes to savor the flavors: the toast was crunchy and almost gooey (yet, not overly so), the chicken was crunchy, the sweet cinnamon-y flavors from the toast, the caramel from the syrup, and the tender, moist chicken were a match made in culinary art. I cannot sufficiently describe the French toast in a way that would do it justice; it was crunchy and semi-gooey, and all scrumptious. I can only say it was the single best French toast that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Next, I tried the fried pimento cheese balls. Oh my. If you like mozzarella sticks, try these. I adored them: elevated fried cheese, for real. My partner enjoyed her sandwich as well; she ate everything except some of her fries. I saved half of my chicken and toast for today because I am like a treasure golem when it comes to delicious leftovers. I am going to air-fry the chicken and skillet-heat the toast back to its original goodness. I told the cooks that that was the best French toast that I have ever had, and I mean it. Do yourself a favor and try it if you're into French toast. This one is the GOAT. Side note: I spoke with the head chef outside, and he is from another branch (possibly Henrico?) to whip this location back into shape. Two words: "Nailed it."
