The staff are friendly and helpful. I ordered the Crab Cake Platter and added the fried shrimp. My family members ordered the Loaded Fries with Crab and the Bangin Shrimp Tacos. All the food was delicious, however, the Crab Cake was the best Crab Cake I have ever eaten. You definitely get your money's worth for the crab. The Crab Cake was large, thick, lump crab meat and not much filler. The servings are very generous, we all left with to go boxes. I was so impressed with the crab cake and shrimp that I placed a to go order online so that a family member at home would not miss out. Walked in, the guy behind the bar greeted us with a smile and told us we could sit anywhere and brought over our menus and informed us the server would be with us shortly. She arrived less than 5 mins later and took our drink orders. I had the steak and cheese. They have new fries on the menu that are not seasoned which is a good thing. The steak and cheese and fries came out hot and ready to eat. The fries were super delicious and so was the steak and cheese. I would recommend this to anyone dining in. The establishment is clean. The music is good. They have two different tvs playing, one on a sport and the other on a game show which is nice to have an option but I was too busy eating to worry about it. Kristin's Kitchen is one of those places where after your first bite you immediately know you're coming back. My first visit I ordered the crabcake sandwich with fries and their homemade remoulade sauce, plus a side of fried shrimp. The crabcake was incredible -- thick, packed with lump crab meat, and basically no filler. You can really taste the crab. The pico de gallo on top adds a fresh pop of flavor and the remoulade sauce is delicious. The fried shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked. The batter is light and crispy (not greasy), and the shrimp inside are big and juicy. Their cocktail sauce is homemade and creamy, smooth with no chunks, and perfectly balanced between ketchup and horseradish. The fries are also amazing -- crunchy outside, soft inside, and seasoned really well. Two days later I went back with a friend and we grabbed takeout. She got the crabcake platter and loved it, and I tried the crab loaded fries which come piled high with fries, lump crab meat, cheese, and remoulade sauce. So good. Everything tasted fresh and the portions are generous. The staff was friendly and attentive both times. They recently moved from a food truck into a restaurant space, so it's a little smaller and you might have a short wait during busy times, but it's absolutely worth it. To make the transition from Food truck to brick and mortar is not easy. I think this nice little spot is Chester hit all the marks. Bright atmosphere, lively, nice bar. Plenty of TV's not overwhelming with 100 TV's perfect balance. The service was spot on with Grace. She was on point attentive and made excellent selections. Spent the morning chopping up and hauling away some massive tree branches that fell in my yard during last night's storm, so I figured this would be a perfectly reasonable excuse to swing by and in-work off some of the calories I just burned off. Love the new store front conveniently located behind the DMV because I passed it on my way back from the dump, and it was definitely easier to find than chasing down a food truck, so Yay for them, opening up a brick and mortar! Brother and I stopped by and decided to split the loaded nachos like we generally do at one of our go-to Old Town Petersburg restaurants, and also opted to grab a burger because we weren't sure if the nachos would be big enough to share like we normally do. We also kind of would have preferred loaded fries to nachos (heavy lifting requires potassium, so obviously potatoes were the way to go.) but while the loaded fries and nachos were similar, the nachos also had things like pico and jalapeños. So I sort of wish they were identical, or there were a "pico and jalapeño available on request" because I weirdly feel bad asking for off menu changes. That's my hang up though, so no points deducted for that. The nachos came and they were definitely huge, so we could have actually skipped the burger, but ended up taking it home anyway, but that means I have zero idea how it tasted. It looked good though. The fries were also good, we did try some of those while they were still hot, but they were just standard seasoned fries. That is to say: they were better than plain fries, but were still just fries, so nothing to write home about. They would have been killer with the loaded toppings though, because the nachos were GREAT. The American cheese was gooey, the beef was great, the toppings were plentiful. It is basically a Philly cheesesteak in nacho form and it was really good. I definitely will try it as fries next though. With jalapeño... Service was great, even though there was a large group out having a St. Patty's day lunch next to us, the service was still on point. Food came quickly, refills on drinks came before we even asked for them, extra napkins came before we started mauling the nachos... This place is definitely worth a stop in. read more

We made our first visit to Kristen's today. We went at lunchtime and the place was full, a good indicator that the food was something special. Although the restaurant was extremely crowded, we were seated quickly, and our orders taken in a timely fashion. Two of us ordered the bang bang shrimp platter, one ordered a shrimp salad, and the other ordered a chef salad. The shrimp platters were delicious - there were 12 large shrimp, and plenty of the delicious sauce. The coleslaw was excellent. The two salads were enormous, and very tasty with abundant protein. Stopped by for dinner and we were not disappointed. We had 2 appetizers- Banging Shrimp and the Brussel Sprouts. Both of the were delicious and we would get again. My grandson enjoyed his chicken tenders and double cooked fries. My son had the steak nachos and I had the Philly cheese steak. Everything had great taste and enjoyed by all. We fell in love with this place! Food and service are amazing. So far we've tried the crab cakes, steak and cheese and bang bang shrimp. Crab cakes are the best I've ever had. They don't taste fake at all and the remoulade is delish. The steak and cheese is flavorful, cheesy with peppers and onions...just perfection. The shrimp was delicious as well. I used Kristen's Kitchen Food truck for a work event and it was a HIT! Everyone adored the food and the portions were huge especially compared to the price we paid per item. There was also enough variety to keep those we are gluten-free, not a gluten allergy, and vegan happy. They did have some items out of stock but it wasn't an issue on our end as our event was on the smaller side, approximately 50-ish people which was smaller than the number I had originally given to them. I do not know how often we will be using a food truck for my line of work but I will absolutely recommend them to other people. Tried them at an event, got the smoked bbq platter $14. It was packaged well in a to go container with condiments on the side. The portion of meat was smaller than pictured in other reviews, that was a little disappointing. I didn't get a real Smokey flavor from the bbq and it was on the drier side but the sauce was good. Fries were well seasoned and perfect as well as the hush puppies with bits of corn in it! Cole slaw dressed well and nice compliment to the meal.
