Went with a couple of friends twice both times had horrible service. We waited about two hours and still was not even confronted by a waitress. It's an alright place to play pool but don't expect good service or any service at all for that matter, and one of the bartenders has a real bad attitude, treated us like we shouldn't have been there. This place is going down hill. I use to like it but the last few times have been horrible. Main reason: I came to watch the ku-uk game. Instead of accommodating the majority of the people that wanted to watch the game, they had some band playing that two people were watching. The band made it impossible to hear/enjoy the game. I would think if 95% of the people came to watch a basketball game, the management would not force them to sit on the other side of the bar just so a band can play to no one listening. Side Pockets has decently cheap pool, especially if you go at the right time. Most of the year they'll have deals at certain hours or on certain days. The service can be suspect; I've had really great and helpful service here, but it's also nonexistent at times. I would give the food 2 stars - never had anything horrible, but it's just not good. Huge! This place is very roomy and clean. Fun atmosphere with plenty of pool tables. Tvs everywhere and a projected screen tv with comfortable arm chairs seated in front. In terms of food, I have only tried the chicken strips and tater tots. It was really good and fresh. I would definitely go in for lunch, dinner, just drinks or to play pool. It seemed like a very chill place to be on the off days, but I hear it gets really packed when games and fights are on. I live on the west side, so I think I'll become a regular here. read more

Recently went to Side Pockets. Food was very good. So why only a two star review? We have been to Side Pockets many times and we really like the food and the atmosphere. This time we were asked for our credit card to run a tab. What? This has never happened before. We were told this was standard practice and they have ALWAYS asked for people to run a tab. When I told the waiter this had never happened before and he had even been our waiter before he argued with us and said he always did this. We went ahead and handed over the credit card and then paid cash anyway. When we got home we checked our bank online and yes there was a charge. It was later deleted but still. We don't use credit cards at restaurants. Personal preference. Will not return. read more

Very poor service. They let other people that we do not know add things to our tab. The bartender was super rude about it at the end also and said that he was with us when we didn't even know him. Another bartender that started out tab came over and defended us and took them off. The service is very slow and it is really hard to order a drink. Drinks are very over priced as well. read more

Side Pockets is a great place to play pool or watch the big game. They've got a lot of high tables around the place that frame the big reason you'll go to SP: the pool tables. I'm not a shark myself, but I'm told by people who are that the tables are maintained very well for how much use they get. I'm more of a dart player, and they just installed two brand new electronic dart boards. They do use plastic tipped darts, but they play very well and I enjoy them a lot. The food is solid - it comes hot and is fairly priced and if you're there the right night, you can get some pretty good deals too! TLDR; Good atmosphere, TV's for the game, lounge seating available (and boy is it comfy), and lots of pool tables. Solid food and good service. read more

I am a regular as I go to his place almost every Thursday for their specials. One of the pool sticks tips came off and we respectable told the staff about this issue but they told us we would be charged 40$ since our group notified them that the tip came off. One of my buddy's was playing pool with us when it fell off and told us about this problem, so we relayed this message to the staff and they made it seem as if we were damaged their equipment. They continued to charge us for us notifying them that a pool stick was damaged. I can respect their rules but felt punished for simply notifying the staff about the issue we found. I don't believe that we should have to pay for their outdated equipment to the amount they asked us to cover. I used to love coming to this place but feel quite offended for the charge. We gladly paid for upon the damages that unfortunately happened during our experience at this pool bar yet they established that we had to leave the premises. I was confused on why we had to leave and why we had to pay a additional charge for trying to be respectful and notify someone about the problem. A great place to play pool until something goes wrong and the customer has to pay for their outdated equipment. Horrible experience along with a horrible staff! This place has a great environment but I never been treated so disrespectfully for simply doing the right thing by notifying the staff about and issue with their equipment. read more

People under 21 aren't allowed here after 10pm. My boyfriend and I came at 7 to play pool with the family and I didn't think it was necessary to have an ID on me but there was a doorman. My boyfriend gave him his but I had told him I didn't have mine cus it's only 7 so I'll just leave before 10. He seemed to be fine with it. Later on my boyfriend got a drink from the bar and I had just gotten a water. We were playing darts with our drinks on a table nearby and the doorman comes up to me to put X's on my hands since i didn't give him my ID and apparently my boyfriend was giving attitude because he said "oooh he double X'd you" JOKINGLY. The doorman comes with a nastier attitude and takes my water to get it checked (lol) and then he comes at us with "I'm gonna check your tab and if there's more than one drink there's gonna be a problem" we tell him go ahead cus I was just trying to drink some damn water but he continued to get in our faces about it. Finally he goes checks and comes back with my water and says we're good. Yeah thank you but you can keep my water you touched. We payed off the tab right away cus we weren't trying to get confronted all night long. Your doorman should get a little bit of training first cus this could of been avoided by simply checking the tab first if he had suspicion rather than giving us the attitude for no reason. We left soon after cus I really just wanted some water and to play some pool in peace WITH MY FAMILY. We would have been completely understanding had he just asked nicely if he could check our tab instead of coming at us assuming we were doing something wrong.
