Amazing food. Amazing drinks. Amazing service. Amazing ambience. This place really blew me away! Pulling into the parking lot, it looked nice, but the outside is much more lowkey than the inside. As I entered, I was met by a hostess counter with flames rising out of it and three well dressed hosts and a hostess behind it. They greeted me, and let me know my party was waiting for me in the bar area. I entered the bar to see a beautiful lit marble bar top and a piano being played while people enjoyed happy hour. I met with my party at a table and the bartender quickly came over to offer a drink menu and happy hour specials. I went for my usual (smoked old fashioned) and was glad I did. It was made perfectly. We ordered the Spinach Artichoke dip for an appetizer. The chips seemed to be house made and were really good, as was the dip. For my entree, I chose the 16oz rib eye & lobster mac and cheese. It came a perfect medium rare and really tender. The lobster mac was good, but the steak was the star. If I find myself back in Wichita, this place will be a must visit! read more

**Very disappointing -- especially for an upscale steakhouse** This was our **third visit**, and unfortunately, we have not been impressed with any of our experiences. After this visit, we definitely won't be back. We arrived around **5:00 PM on a Saturday**, without a reservation, and were surprised that the restaurant wasn't busy. Things started going downhill when we were told they didn't have **Diet Coke**. I ordered the meatloaf, only to have someone come back a few minutes later and tell me they were **already out of meatloaf at 5 PM**. So I ordered a hamburger instead. It's hard to understand how an upscale steakhouse can be out of a menu item that early on a Saturday evening. The hamburger itself was **hot and juicy**, but unfortunately, it was over-seasoned. The garlic bread served before the meal was also heavily over-seasoned. The truffle fries were a pleasant surprise because they actually came out hot -- something we haven't experienced consistently on our previous visits -- but they were once again so heavily seasoned that I couldn't finish them. At this point, we're definitely seeing a pattern. The biggest disappointment was the **carrot cake**. We have ordered it to go before and have always loved it, so we decided to get it again. Our mistake was not trying it in the restaurant. Once we got home and tried it, it was honestly awful. There was so much cinnamon/spice on the cake that it actually changed the color of the cake. I felt like I was doing the viral cinnamon challenge! It was completely overpowered by the spice and was nothing like the carrot cake we've enjoyed in the past. There were a couple of positives: the hamburger was hot and juicy, and the fries were at least served hot this time. But unfortunately, those positives don't make up for the overall experience. After **three visits with consistently disappointing experiences**, we've decided our money is better spent elsewhere. It's especially disappointing because this is supposed to be an upscale steakhouse, where you expect the food and service to be consistently good. read more

First time trying this place and would come back. The burger was cooked as ordered and the onion rings were hot and crunchy. The sauce was a little spicier that I would normally do so might get that on the side next time. I would not recommend pickle spears on a burger. Had reservations for KVH Chophouse, came in early and was promptly seated at the bar so I wouldn't be left standing waiting. The servers at the bar were excellent in service and make a mean mint julep. Shortly after my time at the bar I was escorted to my table and again the service was professional and acted quickly. Live music was playing and it was jazz, piano and cello. Menu items ordered were the Deviled eggs, which I highly recommend, the Prime rib, wedge salad, and chicken cordon bleu. Celebrated my husband's birthday and this was our first time as well. Overall the experience was good and it's nice to have a more elevated dining spot in Wichita. I won't lie, I've been to 1587 Prime in Kansas City and have done a fair amount of travel to large destination cities with upscale dining so it's difficult to fully put those places out of mind while dining in Wichita. That being said: Ambiance: like any elevated dining restaurant it was dark, intimate. Each table has a small lamp which was appreciated because sometimes these places can be TOO dark. The decor felt slightly dated to me but honestly a lot of these newer restaurants have all started throwing it back to older styles-- almost a callback to old Vegas or New York. Booths with tall wingbacks, live piano players, and generous displays of wine bottles. There is not a dress code listed on the website but on the door of the restaurant it suggests you dress nice and there wasn't anyone there dressed casually while we were there. Food: Sort of a mixture of everything. There didn't seem to be any one particular theme although much of the food was very rich. I do think I agree with one other review I've seen where they could probably do with just a couple more lighter options. Don't look for salt and pepper at the table (although it is available), as that is usually an indication of how confident a restaurant is in it's ability to season their food to perfection. Calamari - forgot to take a pictures of most of the dishes (rookie move, but we were hungry) but it was perfectly breaded, not fishy or rubbery, and came with a flavorful aoili and spicy green dipping sauce similar to a salsa Verde. Spinach artichoke dip - really great. But honestly, that's difficult to ruin but I could tell the ingredients were quality. The portion was generous and the chips were crisp. I wish it had come with crostini as well but that's honestly just a personal preference. Strip steak with bearnaise, mashed potatoes, and asparagus - my husband's meal. He said he was fantastic. I didn't try it. His steak appeared to be cooked to correct temperature as well. The portion sizes for the sides are generous as well and definitely could be shared. Prime rib and lobster mac and cheese - I had mixed feelings about this. One other reviewer said it was too salty and I actually tend to oversalt my food so I knew this wouldn't be an issue for me. The outside layer, yes-- it is salty but I do feel like the creamy horse radish does an excellent job toning it down. I don't think it is so salty that it's inedible at all. I liked it personally. The au jus was rich just like an au jus should be. The middle portion of the prime rib was somehow underseasoned. No salt at all. The au jus didn't really save it because it was a thick cut steak so as you're chewing it was fairly bland. If they somehow figured out how to get the flavoring consistent throughout it would've been perfect because otherwise the portion was huge, it was cooked perfectly, and it cut well. The mac and cheese was also very rich. The noodles were cooked perfectly and not mushy. There was actually a very generous amount of lobster. I do think it was just the tiniest bit on the overcooked side but I ate it anyway. The cheese was in abundance. At the end of the meal they recognized my husband's birthday with a complimentary piece of chocolate cake. It was borderline frozen so you could tell this is likely just a sheet cake they perhaps buy in bulk cheaply so they can give out for special occasions but you know what, the sentiment was nice regardless. Would I go back? Sure. It's nice to have another finer dining option in Wichita for special occasions. Truly no make or break critiques here. Overall: 3.9/5 read more

Overall, the food is wonderful and the service is stellar. You can tell a lot of care goes into their menu and preparation from start to finish. My only critique is that a dress code is posted. We went there with an upscale dress in mind. Most adhered to this, however there were a number of people who came in with almost nothing on (women) and men in baggy pants and tshirts. To me, if you want to keep it upscale - which is posted right in the door...then enforce it. I love having a nicer dining spot in Wichita, with great food and service. I would love for it to stay nice as well. I get that this can be a sensitive topic but maintaining standards would be great for this place, as it is very nice inside and out. Really loved the ambience after KVH opened.... Now as I enter the building... the reserved parking places seem a little too well placed front and center for the owner? I ordered my typical appetizer which did not come with Crostini as described. By the time Crostini arrived the dip was cool, not cold but not as good as in the past. Eight out of 17 seats at the bar were reserved seats at the bar sat empty the duration of our visit with multiple guests turned away. Loved this place but now even the bartenders and staff are not friendly. It was wonderful at first.... But if it's reserved for special people... Well, I was a little skeptical to come here because I have heard so many mixed reviews, but it did not disappoint!! As a frequent traveler who often bases trips around places we want to eat, I have a lot of fine dining experience. Our experience was close to exceptional! First off our server Maddie was fantastic!!! One of the best I've ever had anywhere. And our food was absolutely mouthwatering, cooked to perfection tonight. We started with crab cakes, which surprisingly rivaled my favorite in Seattle. We shared a Caesar salad, and had the warm buttery bread. I had the steak bites medium well with the whipped potatoes with Demi glaze, which was phenomenal. My spouse had the filet, lobster Mac and cheese and twice baked potatoes. He loved his steak, and he's not easy to impress in that department. His only complaint was the twice baked seemed slightly overcooked. But dang, we were blown away with how quality the food was! Excellent night celebrating our Anniversary. Oh and we did get the carrot cake which we definitely enjoyed but had to take to go because we were stuffed. Also, we were treated to a fantastic piano player who took requests. And we loved the atmosphere and attention to detail in the dining room setup. Highly recommend! Went here tonight for our Anniversary dinner. I will say we have found our new favorite special occasion and place! This gem is neatly tucked away in the neighborhood and it needs to be on your list! It gives an old Hollywood/Speak Easy feel from the black walls and the old school charm. All the tables are very neat and there is a great use of the black with ample lighting. We were given a glass of Prosecco, because it was our Anniversary. They have Happy Hour from 4-6 and we each had a cocktail, I had a mango mojito and my husband had a smoked old fashioned. Very nice presentation! We had the Crab Cakes for an appetizer and let me tell you, I could've eaten 4 plates of those! We ordered a side salad, I had Caesar and husband ordered the chopped wedge. Nice size portion and both were good! We were given bread and a very nice whipped herb butter, that was very good! We both ordered the Broiled Lobster with whipped potatoes and broccoli. Presentation was on point! The lobster was cooked perfectly and the whipped potatoes were very tasty! Now we couldn't leave without dessert, but we did ask for it to go! I got the carrot cake, minus the Carmel drizzle. Hubby got the Triple Chocolate Cake. Very large slices! We both tasted them when we were home and they both are worth writing home about! If you want a nice date night, this is it! Located in West Wichita, so it's very close to my boyfriend's house and in a great area of town. He got prime rib, I got sea bass. Both were excellent! The table next to us got the tomahawk steak and next time we go, we're trying that! What a presentation! It was our first time here and will definitely come back. We've been to KVH four times, and the quality has definitely gone downhill. The lobster was great, but we were a bit taken back when the bill came and we were charged for our side when the server said it came with two sides. My friends's steak came out cold, and the mashed potatoes were so runny and greasy they fell right through the fork -- also cold. I ordered the Flaming Wagyu Tomahawk, and I'd honestly question whether it was even Wagyu. For the price, the food and service shouldn't be this inconsistent. Really sad to see the decline, because it was great in the beginning. read more

We spent $1200 there so I don't mind spending money on a night out with family but when one of my guests asked for a tequila and they just served him a $70 drink with no for warning, I felt that was pretty tacky. They should included him in the decision making. Didn't think to mention, they only had two tequilas and one of them was $70. The food was good. Okay. Wasn't blown away. The scalding bright lights mixed with the warm barley there lights made it difficult to feel like an intimate restaurant it's meant to be. The seats were terrible and I practically felt like I fell to the ground when I sat down. A group behind our table had their phones on and kept hearing their text messages go off every two minutes. Then they had the nerve to take a call on speaker phone. Was disappointed the manager didn't step in and ask for some decorum. Per usual, Wichita people not knowing how to act in public. Might sound harsh but when I pay $65 for a steak at dinner I expect the ambiance to be top notch. The steak was good, and cooked correctly but actually was a smidge dry. It needed more butter or a jus. The vegetables came out cold and were slightly undercooked. Overall felt a bit kitchy and slightly like it was trying too hard to be fancy for a place that allowed people to walk-in in jeans and flip flops and take personal calls at dinner. Would recommend enforcing a dress code. Also consider unlocking both sides of the doors so everyone doesn't constantly push/pull on a locked door. read more

We had the calamari and steak tips appetizers as well as the bread plate. Delicious! I highly recommend you don't skip the bread plate. We are at KVH for our first time for our anniversary yesterday. We arrived at 6:25 for our 6:30 reservation and they sat us right away. Our server was Karen and was impeccable. We had the Spicy Meatballs as an appetizer. They were delicious. My wife had the Sea bass with succotash and I had the 8oz Filet with twice baked potatoes. I had the blue cheese crumbles on top. Both were excellent. We had the Carrot Cake for dessert. HUGE slice. It too was delicious. The atmosphere was just right. We definitely will be back. read more
