This restaurant is outstanding! When my family visits, we like to see some of the many interesting sites within a few hours of Las Vegas. On this trip we visited Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, Cathedral Gorge and Kershaw-Ryan State Park (all of which we highly recommend). Lunch was a necessary element of the trip. On a previous visit, we had visited another restaurant in Caliente that was ok, but as it was nothing to rave about, we tried another one: Side Track. We were very pleased with our decision! The restaurant is clean, the menu more varied than we had anticipated, the staff is very friendly and attentive, and the food -- wow! There were six of us, and although we didn't try everything on the menu, we can vouch for the BLT, the Philly Cheese Steak, the Chopper burger, the cod sandwich, the chicken Florentine soup, and the pizza. Portions were very generous, the ingredients fresh, and there was no skimping (for example, my Philly cheesesteak was prepared with yellow and orange bell peppers - an upgrade from the usual green). Finally, the price was very reasonable, even lower than the same meal would've cost in Vegas, which was a pleasant surprise given the remote location. This restaurant is a keeper - we will definitely visit it again on our next excursion through the area. read more

I have been a couple times. My grilled cheese was great the first time, but hey, it's a grilled cheese. They are hard to mess up. Second visit was decent. I ordered a chicken wrap, while it was good, the only flavor was from the dressing I added. Meat needs to be seasoned before cooking. I am not sure it was even salt and peppered before cooking. Waitress forgot my fries, when reminded I received a different type than what I ordered. I will return, as I appreciate the cleanliness and atmosphere of the restaurant. This restaurant is a great place to go when you pass though or going camping at Kershaw Ryan State Park. Atmosphere is great, staff is friendly. Food is great for the price. Kids loved there personal cheese pizzas on the kids menu. While eating a train came by and that added to the atmosphere for a nice little town. To me this restaurant beats any major restaurant chin restaurant out there. read more

Friendly, fast, and delicious. From the first moment I felt like I was in my home town. The server's hospitality was an excellent surprise. The best food in town! The menu is plentiful, with something for everyone. When I say everyone, I mean everyone!! They even have a vegan burger! The portions are generous and service is quick and personal. They get to know their regulars and love chatting with out-of-towners. The atmosphere is inviting, chic, and family friendly. My parents live in Caliente, not alot of food choices. While visiting we decided to try something new. It's very clean and bright inside. Wasn't busy upon arrive, however that changed. We had pizza, very good. Crust was perfect & toppings fresh. Our server was attentive, not hovering! I would definitely recommend going to the" other side of the tracks" and give this place a try. read more

Surprised to find the quality of food available for dinner and breakfast (yes, we had two meals as we spent the night in town). Pizza extremely flavorful, spaghetti and meatballs could have fed a small family, and fair selection of bottled beer. French toast and smoothie for breakfast left us both quite happy.
