Legitimately some of the worst cocktails I've ever had anywhere. Neckbeard bar staff is curt, rude and inflexible with extremely reasonable drink requests. Excuse me for assuming you could make anything besides a standard old fashioned, despite having a damn near wall-to-wall selection of liquor and ingredients. What a cute place! We came here in the middle of the week and were able to enter right away. ($10 cover!) It is VERY dark inside but once your eyes adjust, you'll see a room stretching far back. Right as you enter is where the artists were performing. The music was quite loud here but did get quieter further into the place. There's some couch type seating there. In the middle, one wall has the bar and the other side has booth style tables and tables against the wall with chairs. We were able to find a table for 2 pretty easily. Overall the vibes were awesome. The music was great and I had a good time there. It seems the musicians play for 45 minutes, then take a 15 minutes break. The reason for the 4 stars is because the drinks were very subpar. They're all in the low teens price range but was pretty disappointed since the place was very nice. The old fashioned we ordered was basically watered down whiskey with a lemon peel inside, tolerable at best. The other drink we ordered was way too sweet. Perhaps the other drinks are better. I would still be interested in checking out the place again! I think if you frame the place as a jazz venue that serves okay drinks instead of a nice cocktail bar that has jazz music, then it's a good experience. read more

There's easy parking either on the street or in the little area between the green lady and the black dolphin. The Door person has always been respectful. Inside of such chill environment lots of booths small tables usually able to find a seat except for sometimes on a Friday or Saturday night between 10pm and 1am can be pretty busy. I'm from St. Louis, but every time I visit Kansas City, I try to make it to Green Lady! This place is such a gem. I'm not even an avid jazz music fan, but the vibes here are truly something special. There's a $5 cover per person when they check your ID at the entrance, and they accept cash or card to keep things easy. After you pay the cover, there are two doors, one of which takes you downstairs and the other that leads to the main floor. I like that the downstairs and main level have two totally different ambiances. Both floors have different musicians performing at the same time, so there's always music to enjoy no matter where you choose to settle down! Tables and booths are first come first serve, so if you have more than two people in your group, you'll need to keep your eyes extra peeled for an open spot. I've found that it's much easier to grab an open table for two than for multiple people. They do not accept reservations. The servers are usually pretty attentive, but sometimes you're better off just placing your order at the bar. I absolutely love the Pink Lady cocktail. It's very light and refreshing! Our second visit here was as good as the first! So worth the $5 cover charge Be prepared that when you walk in, it is dark. After a few mins your eyes will adjust and all will be revealed. They have a full bar, so they can mix anything, but the drink list is only a page or so long. We have tried several different offering from the menu and enjoyed the all. A charcuterie board goes well as you listen to the music and enjoy the drinks. We have only been on Saturday afternoon and the music volume is low, allowing pleasant conversation.
