The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Wonderful atmosphere along historic Route 66.

On the road back home we stopped in for a bite. This place was lovely. Service was quick and friendly, sandwich and sweet potato fries were good, but the best part was sitting outside on a beautiful day enjoying a meal on Route 66. We sat outside under a tree and next to a street sign to mark the occasion. I think what also made it do special was the history of this place. You must stop unif only to read the story on the back of their menu of how Tucumcari got its name. read more

We thought the name was catchy so we stopped in this diner for breakfast (and options were slim for sit-down restaurants). We both got simple meals. I'm not so adventurous in diner type places so I went "safe" with eggs/hash browns/bacon. The food was okay- nothing noteworthy or different than any other. We ate quickly and took off. If I repeated this morning, I probably would have skipped breakfast and headed on down the highway. I'd recommend the restaurant for an expected meal to start the day or have lunch. read more

Quite some time ago, I left a scathing review on restaurants in Tucumcari, New Mexico not being open on weekends. As a result I received a message back from the owner of Kix on 66 stating they are always open. So I am in town again and decided to give them their due. First of all, I will never eat there again. The place reeks of uncleanliness, if you drop something on the table and fear it will roll off. Don't worry it will stick right to it. The straw wrapper stuck to the table, they give you a paper mat for your plate and silverware, it was stuck to the table. The sign outside has been busted out for I don't know how long. And the inside looks tired and rundown. The place only had 5 other customers, you would think the employees would be cleaning, but were too busy standing around talking. You state you are always open. I suggest you close and clean. Spend a little money inside and out to attract customers. The people who do eat there. Are there out of desperation for a place to eat not because they enjoy it. And further more you said you're open all the time. It's Monday 1 July, 5:00 pm and you're closed. read more

Very cool Route 66 cafe! We came for breakfast and were seated promptly at the bar. Our waitress kept our coffee cups full and had a great personality. I had the potato stack with bacon and Christmas sauce! Incredible food! The hash browns are ground fresh and cooked to perfection then covered with two eggs and both green and red chili. The chili was very good and what I would expect in New Mexico. We will definitely return again when in the area. read more

We were driving from Las Vegas to Orlando and needed to stop somewhere for breakfast. Originally we were going to Denny's but there was like one lady working. So we said let's try this local joint and boy were we happy. First of all, we loved the vintage diner feel and decor. We were greeted right away and had an excellent server. The food was good, not banging but it gets the job done 4/5. I highly recommend this place if you need a pit stop. Oh and a great location for photo ops! read more

Stopped to get fuel on Interstate 40 and looked on Yelp to find a place for lunch. This place came up so we gave it a try. The service was great and so was the food. I had the twisted burger with green chili and she had the Cali BLT. This is definitely worth stopping if you to grab a bite to eat and you're in the area. read more

Dropped into this retro diner on our way back home to AZ for a sit down breakfast. Wait staff was very hospitable and always wore a smile. Other diners appeared to be locals mixed with travelers. As we were passing through New Mexico, I decided to try the green chili omelet with biscuits and gravy. The food was good and the biscuits melted in my mouth. Would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for the amount of flies within the establishment. I counted 6 flies near our table alone. Would come back again. Had a good lunch here. I really wanted to try the huevos rancheros but am on a strict dietary plan right now for health reasons so had the pueblo chicken salad. It was so fresh and good. And such a pretty presentation. Was so nice looking that I dived right in and forgot to take a picture! Hubby had been wanting pancakes for a couple days so he tried them here. He said they were exceptional. Light and fluffy. They had fresh baked cinnamon rolls that looked so good but we neither one can have that sort of food, but I wanted one so bad! Clean restrooms. Nice hot water to wash your hands. They also have small gifts to commemorate your drive on historic route 66. read more

Like a little oasis in the barren wasteland of New Mexico! This was my second time stopping here (had a burger the first time which was great!) so I branched out and order something from their extensive breakfast options. The staff here are extremely helpful and friendly, as they assisted my friend who got a bad nose bleed and sent us on our way with a free coffee and a smile. Stopped in on our way to AZ based on Yelp reviews. We arrived half hour before closing and ordered our dinner for take out. They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. I had the grill cheese and my husband ordered the smothered breakfast burrito with every meat they offered and salsa on the side. Both were delicious. We topped it all off with a yummy piece of blueberry cheesecake. We will definitely be back for breakfast in the morning. read more

Breakfast served all day along Route 66! After a nights stay on the historic highway, a hearty breakfast is what they needed before jumping back on The Mother Road. When we're in a new area I always encourage the fam to indulge in some of the local cuisines and treats and that's what they did here.... They tried the 'Tucumcari Mountain Taters' which are crispy homefries with traditional red or green sauce (red is the less spicy of the two), smothered with cheese and topped with eggs. Kiddos added spinach since my eldest had been on a spinach kick and nixed the egg. They loved this pile of sinfulness. I tasted the spinach, tater and sauce and it was quite delish. Perfect kick, but not overbearing and enough to give me just a taste of what the area is known for. They also ordered the 'Shamrock Griddle Bread'. I had never heard of such a thing. It's basically a type of French Toast but made with their own special house made vanilla cinnamon batter. It looked less pan fried than what I'm used to seeing in a French Toast. You can order a half or whole order. Half was plenty for the two of them to split. Drinks were served in masons which was an added sweet touch to the 50's throwback type of diner vibe. There's also outdoor seating too! Crayons and coloring pages were given to the kiddos by our kind, waitress. The food came out promptly and the prices were very fair. I had already had an espresso that morning, but they do have a full, extensive cafe menu...hot, cold, and even frozen espresso. Fresh y smoothies too. Nice stop! We would recommend! read more

Taking the words "Dog friendly" to an entirely new level. They have a dog menu. I mean, a menu with food, mostly meat, that they will cook for your beloved companion. Place was really Smelly and my eggs were undercooked. Waitress was sweet but very inexperienced and service was slow. The scrambled eggs were not scrambled- half cooked before stirring, hash browns raw, biscuits never came. The bacon was good. read more
