The Normandie's drinks are inexpensive, the jukebox is loud, and shuffleboard and pool tables are always open. The crowd at this bar has a reputation for being rowdy and a bit rough around the edges, but you can't be considered a true Scrantonian until you get into a bar fight at the Normandie. This non- smoking establishment has a good sized back room with tables as well as tables and a high top in the main bar area. They can seat 10-20 if you let them know ahead of time. The crowd pressure is both local flavor and transient, especially in the outdoor recreation warm months. The fact it sits right on the D&L Trail is also a nice point. Apart from a general air of unpretentiousness, rejecting the regality of more upscale martini or piano bars, any quality dive bar must also offer cheap drinks and good food: Beer Bellies met all these requirements. During both of my visits to Beer Bellies I was treated to the comedic stylings of James "The Wingman" Holeva. Billed as "the bad boy of comedy," Holeva's politically incorrect routine is reminiscent of Lenny Bruce or vintage Andrew Dice Clay. Beer Bellies earns high marks for their entertainment.
