We are so happy to have found this little hidden gem during our trip to Hawley. It's definitely a spot for locals to enjoy great food and great atmosphere. I'm amazed by how juicy and tender the steak is, not to mention its inviting smoky flavor. I learned from the lady at the bar that this property has been serving the local community since 1932, and I have no doubt that it'll continue to be the go to spot for good food and drink for the foreseeable future. Guess who's back? Back again...anyway, love this place! Came up here last week and decided to try the pizza. I love me some good ol bar pizza. This was perfect too. So after driving by this place for the past year or so, we finally were enticed to stop by the sign of "Smoked Baby Back Ribs" and given some of the poor reviews posted, we reluctantly tried. And what a surprise we had. Yes, the place has a bar on one side and dining room on the other, so they are separated and your are NOT treated poorly. The staff was wonderful, especially Francesca who made sure we were well supplied with beverages, made great recommendations for entree selection, and checked on us frequently. I tried their steak and shrimp special. It came with the salad bar which was very fresh and delicious. The steak was large, and was a good steak, a bit on the fatty side. The shrimp, grilled in butter and garlic, were phenomenal. I could have just that and be satisfied. The side of green beans were nicely cooked, tender and light seasoning. My hubby had the ribs, of course. They came out, falling off the plate, hot (unlike other ribs we have had in other restaurants in the area), and were delicious. The balance between bark and smoke was perfect. The sides - cole slaw was terrific (best he ever had), corn on the cob was excellent, hot, juicy and fresh, and the fries were crispy on the outside and tender on inside and a plentiful portion and a wonderful price. The rest of the clientele in the restaurant were mostly families and were very chatty and friendly. I think we found a new go-to spot were we will be welcomed back. Going to the Poconos.... then stop here! I love this place! I have been here many, many times. Located a few minutes from Promise Land State Park, this is one of the best places in the area. The décor is circa 1960's which adds to the whole nostalgia feel of the Poconos. Especially with the stuffed dead animals which are kind of creepy but also kind of kitchy. The food is pretty good and very inexpensive. I know this is random, but the cake here is fabulous so definitely try it, the bartender encouraged us to try it one time and I still dream of the cake... Yum! The bartenders are friendly and chatty so they make you feel like you are their besties., so you really get to mingle with the locals. Plus, the beer is super cheap- $1.50-$2.00 a pint, so seriously how can you go wrong???? They have darts, pool, and colorful locals to entertain you. It really is a fabulous dive bar. Decided to try the wings and was horribly disappointed. These were clearly sitting under a heat lamp all day and then they rolled them in minimal sauce. They were horribly dry and they messed up the order and wouldnt take responsibility. Tried to reach out to the owner and he doesnt even bother responding so I guess they dont care about customer service or referrals. For all you people visiting PROMISED LAND STATE PARK, there are great wings just down the road....keep driving! read more

I waltzed into this little gem on Easter Sunday afternoon whilst foraging for food in the Poconos. My boyfriend really liked the name and so we sought it out. Caroline was the bartender and very personable. We gladly ordered beers (Shock Top) on tap and requested a food menu. There's no drink menu, and you get what you see at this place. The food menu was very extensive and it included everything from bar food to a duck special, both of which we ordered. The special and dinner menu comes with a salad bar and a side, which we ordered scalloped potatoes from. I ordered the boneless chicken wings and potato skins as an appetizer. The potato skins were a bit over done in my opinion. They included bacon and onion with sour creme on the side. You can get cheese on the potato skins, however, we ordered it without. Smoking is permitted at the bar and there's a very lovely dining room that is separate from the bar and kitchen area, which makes it very appropriate for families. A hand full of friendly locals strolled in while we were eating. It felt very comfortable to chat with everyone and after going in without any expectations, I am thoroughly impressed by this place. read more
