This place was one of our favorite spots for cocktails and food in Buellton! We stayed next door at the Flying Flags RV park, and the Sideways Lounge is a short walk to get there, part of the Sideways Inn. The drinks were on point (they made me a proper Negroni that was perfect)! The Belgian fries and dogs were super tasty and indulgent. The outdoor space was really comfortable, and the fire kept us cozy on the chilly night we were there. The whole lounge is very modern, clean, and well-maintained with plenty of seating space indoors and outside. Mike, the bartender/server, was super friendly and helpful, and he provided us some great tips for exploring wineries around Los Olivos. I will definitely return here next time I'm staying in Buellton!

This place is right next to our camping spot. Can roll out if your trailer and walk in. Nice strong drinks. Relaxing environment

NIce, contemporary lounge adjacent to the Sideways Inn made famous by the movie filmed there. Friendly staff with lots of comfy chairs and funky decor makes for a great atmosphere to enjoy a glass of wine or an artisan cocktail. Its not cheap - but no place around this area is. There is a food truck permanently parked outside that serves up sausage sandwiches. That was kinda...meh... but ok. Go for the drinks.

Very cool place but the service is slow. You order the food at the bar and several men in an Airstream trailer parked next to the lounge cooks the food. The guys at the trailer work their rears off but the bartenders inside tend to be slow. Without a doubt, the garlic fries are the best you will ever have. They are crunchy and flavorful. Normally, garlic fries you get at the ballpark or at a restaurant are soggy. These are cooked, made to order, and the taste difference is unbelievable. Cajun fries are the same way but, darn, they are hot. Good job. Great sausage sandwich loaded with goodies. We enjoyed sitting on the patio with the heaters and fireplace. Cool little spot for talking and eating.

It's a nice lounge/bar within the Sideways Inn premises. Has a self serving mode, smaller variety of appetisers that are ordered from the food van parked outside in the Sideways premises. We ordered the dark beer, a Mexican lager, Belgian Fries, Mozzarella Sticks. The place is a little pricey considering it's self service and yet there is a gratuity also to be paid. Ok experience. We went to this place as most of the eateries and pubs start closing by 8.00 pm and we were staying for 2 nights at Sideways Inn.

I've only been to the Sideways Lounge a handful of times, but it's always a treat! So spacious and options for indoor or outdoor seating. Recently I was able to join some friends outside by the fire and it was wonderful! Great setting. They do have a good menu and some in my party loved their french fries. This place is super easy to find right by the 101 on ramp. They have tons of parking. You may have to flag a bartender down for a drink, as they can get busy and the bar tends to be crowded, but their drinks are delicious!

While staying at Flying Flags, I stumbled across this gem literally on the other side of the campsite. We sat at the bar, and I opted for a stout called "There Does Not Exist: Return to Earth." It was excellent. The interior is elegant and well-maintained, and the bartender was very attentive. Great service and overall experience.

Came here for a drink and late dinner midweek. Sat at the bar and staff was attentive. Ordered the Open Sesame sausage which was fine. The ambiance was nice and there was outdoor seating with a fireplace. Live music on Tuesday evenings. We were staying at the hotel which gave us a $12 food/beverage credit, so that was nice. Ample parking.

The sausage dogs were amazing! We ordered the sesame and the Buellton Tailgate. I had the sesame and it was tasty and big but I actually liked my wife's choice because I love blue cheese.

Hoppy Poppy from Figueroa Mountain which is another gem down the street.

I'm camping next door at flying flags which is an awesome place. Came over to the lounge which is next door and the sister property. We were greeted by Gabby and ordered the Bloody Mary. It tasted great and was topped with green olives and a bite of bacon. We were the first ones in and got a chance to chat with Gabby. What a Wonderful representative of her company! She spoke very highly of working for her employer and it showed in the great service she provided. Thank you Gabby!

After walking in and passing the host stand, a server who was seated at the bar got up, walked us to a table, and suggested we sit on the loveseat. The host was friendly and welcoming, and the space itself seemed promising. We were excited to settle in, have a drink, and check the place out. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, but shortly after we were seated, a larger group came in. From that point on, it felt like we were completely forgotten. The server focused on the larger party, taking drink orders and delivering beverages as more guests from their group arrived. Meanwhile, we sat waiting without any acknowledgment. Another group of ladies was seated nearby and appeared just as confused about who was helping them. We both work in the restaurant industry, so we understand that larger parties can demand attention and that things don't always go perfectly. We tried to be patient and give the team the benefit of the doubt. However, after waiting more than 15 minutes without anyone checking on us, taking a drink order, or even acknowledging our table, we decided to leave. What made the experience especially frustrating was that the restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived. We never felt welcomed beyond being shown to our table, and ultimately it felt like our business wasn't valued. Hopefully this was just an off night, because the atmosphere and concept seemed like something we would have enjoyed. We'd be willing to give it another chance, but first impressions matter, and unfortunately this one missed the mark. Sadly, it looks like we definitely missed out on the famous Bowl for Two.

Kelly seemed more focused on catering to a small group of guys in cowboy hats than maintaining the vibe that actually makes this spot stand out. Instead of reading the room, she and her May 1st bartender colleague locked into a single stream of country music that clearly wasn't resonating with most of the crowd. That's really the frustrating part, it wasn't just a music choice, it was the complete lack of awareness or willingness to adjust. People weren't being heard, requests were ignored, and the whole "records" concept felt pointless when it was treated so rigidly. If you're going to lean into vinyl as part of the experience, it should feel curated, responsive, and a little bit special, not like someone just putting on their personal playlist and tuning everyone else out. The drinks were genuinely great, which makes the situation even more disappointing. The potential is clearly there, but the execution on the atmosphere just didn't match. If the records are going to stay, they should actually be used to enhance the environment, not limit it. Otherwise, it might be better to ditch the gimmick entirely rather than let it drag down what could be an otherwise standout spot.

Came on a Wednesday night in July, and here's what we ate: 1. Manhattan Clam Chowder. Special soup of the day, this soup was more watery and less tomatoey than expected from a classic Manhattan. Thus, reads more cioppino. However, the utterly ample amount of chunky potato and clams was on point along with the flavor. Total recommend. 2. Mushroom Bucatini. Excellent dish. While fhe choice of ricotta was okay, I think it might be more elevated with a generous portion of mizithra cheese ala the Old Spaghetti Factory. Still recommend. 3. Calamari. Star of the show with crunchy tentacles available. Super crispy batter. And it comes with fried lemons, jalapeños, and onions. What a mix! While it comes with an aioli, which is good for the onions and lemons, for sure, the move is to order marinara dipping sauce. Definite recommend. 4. Bread. So it's a baguette with chimichurri. Weird because they spread it on the bread already on THE OUTSIDE, not inside like you would think. You might be tempted to think: why not just put into a cup so that you can spread it yourself? And don't we normally put it on a meat like steak? But be not be alarmed. While these are questionable plating choices, you may ask for just the bread itself, which is great and worth getting. It's got a crisp outer shell and softer inside, which is a perfect pair for your chowder or even some marinara. Actual recommend. Also comes with soft butter spread, pickled onions. So should you come? Yes. Even if you don't stay at The Landsby, which is a nice hotel, by the way. But don't take my word for it. Come on over for dinner sometime and take in the vibe and good eats when next you visit Solvang town.
