I loved this cozy hotel. Front desk staff were awesome and very helpful. The bar seemed cool but didn't offer dining options other than small bites. The pool and hot tub looked very inviting but were always busy so we didn't use it . Our room was a nice size and offered a small fridge, microwave and Keurig. No bath tub but nice shower. I liked that the shower/toilet were separated from the sink and mirror to get ready and wash up. The best thing about this place is the location and how it's walking distance to lots of restaurants, bakeries, wine tasting and shopping. read more

We booked two nights the weekend of July 31 for a little end of summer girl's trip. The hotel is in a good location. Upon checking in, we were told that the lounge & bar would be closed all weekend. This was a bummer, it is one of the reasons we booked the hotel originally. When we got to the room, the smell was awful. It smelled musty and moldy. We opened the window and turned on the air, that helped not one bit. So, we asked for a different room. They accommodated this request quickly, which was great. The hotel advertises electric vehicle charging stations. While this is true, they are NOT the fast charging ones, rather they are the type you install at your house. This means charging can take several hours. Thiscreates an annoying backlog situation - no one is going to sit around for hours while their vehicle charges. Inevitably, you go into town and return when you're ready, at which point your car is either still charging OR it has finished charging, but is now taking up a charger that might be needed. No one is going to run back to the hotel to unplug and move their car. Also, there are only two chargers and they are in the tightest, most inconvenient location in the parking lot. When I opened my trunk to put my bags in, the trunk lid HIT a large pipe running above the parking spot. They need far more chargers installed if they're going to advertise this amenity. When we returned to the hotel on our first evening, we got ZERO sleep. For one, the AC is very, very loud and goes off and on all night. On top of that, and this is what spoiled things actually, a dog in an adjoining room barked loudly ALL NIGHT LONG. It was unbearable. I called the front desk several times, and they didn't really seem to understand the gravity of the situation. They just said yea, it's very frustrating, we're trying to contact the owners, but nothing really resolved. We got no sleep and it was so frustrating. Operating on no sleep, we went out the next day to explore the town. When it got hot in the afternoon hours, we returned to the hotel to relax and get a nap in before dinner. But guess what? MORE DOG BARKING. For hours. And the same spiel from the front desk and management. So, no naps for us. It was beyond frustrating. After all that, the management offered no compensation or anything. They really didn't even address the dog barking except when I made the phone call to the front desk. It was all empty apologies and no action. All in all, it was a frustrating experience and I would hesitate to book there again. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Vinland Hotel last weekend for her birthday, and I wanted to make the trip feel a little extra special. Before we arrived, I reached out to the hotel to see if there was anything they offered for birthdays. They told me they normally don't do much, which I completely understood, but the woman at the front desk, I believe her name was Geidy, said she would personally see what she could do. I had absolutely no idea just how far she was willing to go. I had balloons and a birthday cake being delivered to the hotel, and Geidy personally met the delivery drivers, collected everything, and set it all up in our room while we were out at breakfast. She kept in touch with me the entire morning, texting updates while I intentionally delayed our arrival so she could finish everything. When we finally walked into the room, it was beautiful. She had arranged the balloons, cake, complimentary bottles from the hotel, and even bought my girlfriend flowers with her own money. She also left a handwritten birthday note from the hotel wishing her a happy birthday and thanking her for spending her special day there. When I thanked her afterward, she was literally sweating from running back and forth getting everything ready for us--in well over 100-degree heat. She treated my girlfriend's birthday like it was important to her too, and that's something we'll never forget. The hotel itself was wonderful, but what made this stay truly unforgettable was Geidy's kindness and generosity. It's incredibly rare to meet someone who genuinely cares that much about making a stranger's experience special. We'll absolutely be staying at the Vinland every time we visit Solvang. And Geidy, if you happen to read this: thank you. You made my girlfriend's birthday so much more memorable than I ever could have on my own. Your kindness meant the world to both of us. read more

I absolutely loved our room at Vinland Hotel & Lounge. It was spacious, clean, and had a sliding glass door that let in lots of natural light--something I personally love. It made the whole space feel peaceful and grounding. We even saw fireworks on the Fourth of July from our room, which was a beautiful surprise. The room was comfortable, and we all genuinely felt relaxed during our stay--which isn't always easy to say on a road trip. It was easy to sleep, unwind, and just enjoy being there. There were nice modern touches, like a high-tech mirror with a light-up power button, and the main lobby was stunning--the only one on our trip where I actually sat, sipped tea, and spent time just planning the night with my sister. It felt cozy, peaceful, and elevated at the same time. And the cold brew on tap in the lobby? Absolutely unreal. As a former barista, I say this with full confidence: it was the best cold brew I've ever had. I still dream about it. The staff were warm, helpful, and kind, but a few things kept it from being a 5-star experience: * The ceiling-mounted showerhead looked cool but wasn't practical--hard to avoid if it's not a hair wash day. * The elevator went down for about 20 minutes during checkout, which meant lugging bags down the stairs. * Since my mom uses a cane, a first-floor room would've made things easier. * Trash service on Saturday left messy liquid all over the pavement. * One staff member (not in uniform) used the guest luggage rack to haul trash, which felt unsanitary. * The parking structure was crowded, and laundry hampers blocked the handicap path, which I had to clear myself. Still, the beauty of the place, the kindness of the team, and how comfortable and relaxed we all felt made this one of the best hotel stops of our trip. I requested a quiet room when checking in. I've NEVER had a hotel tell me that I didn't pay for a quiet room!! I guess I paid for a noisy room. The window in room 209 which is on the main road through Solvang is not in good condition! It appears like it might be falling out-noise came in all night!! Ran into a couple checking out and they also said they couldn't sleep all night because of traffic noise. The a/c was extremely loud so we didn't use it. Beds were uncomfortable and sheets need replacing as they're very worn. Towels appeared once to be white, but they are so over used, stained, and rough-even too tough to use as a rag on my car! The hallways on the 2nd floor smelled extremely musty!! It was nice to be able to walk for dinner and a morning coffee! It was also nice to have covered parking which was included with the reservation. Will not be a return patron!! read more

Loved the lounge area with fireplace. Very cozy to sit next to while putting in a bit of work on my laptop. Loved the pillows and bedding, I think some of the pillows were feather, which are my fave. Staff was super helpful, giving us extra towels upon request, and helping me look for my wallet when I'd dropped it while moving from parking garage into our room to get settled. My only complaint would be the wifi connectivity: it's a bit spotty, otherwise my stay was great!! It's right off the main strip so we didn't get crowded by tourists, but was easily able to walk the touristy areas from the hotel. read more

They are gems. The rooms were spotless and we were pleasantly surprised the hallways and rooms look recently remodeled. The lobby although small was gorgeous and they offered a coffee service bar. We booked a 1 night stay in the double queen superior room over Christmas Eve and really enjoyed our stay. I absolutely love that this hotel is pet friendly and have an amazing lounge with great drinks and food. Also one of the few places that are open late :) The front staff was incredibly sweet despite a small hiccup during check in. We actually arrived at 1:30pm and was hoping to be able to check in sooner since we just completed a long drive - our room wasn't ready yet but we were able to do the pre check in out of the way. We decided to get a couple drinks and snacks in the area and came back around 4. Check in is at 3pm and our room was still not ready. Slightly disappointed; we then opted to wait in the lounge. 2 hours later we were able to check in. The front desk were very apologetic and gave us a late check out as well as waiving the pet fee. Our room was nice and spacious. The only complaint I have is the drainage noise but other than that our stay was fine. Will definitely book again in the future. read more

Stayed @ the Vinland for my birthday weekend, Aug 1-3. I had 2 rooms and both rooms air conditioners were so loud, we couldn't sleep. To top that off, on my birthday night, we got back to the hotel about 1:30am and right outside my room there were like 7 people drinking, smoking, and being really loud. I called the lobby and she went out and asked them to keep it down, I guess. I think it went on for about 30 more minutes. Customer service was ok, they offered to have maintenance come to look at the AC, but I had already looked at Yelp and saw that there were numerous other complaints about the loud AC units. Also, the WiFi is awful! Barely worked! I didn't complain about this cause the AC issue was more important. Also, while not really a problem, the pic shows their tv w/ wires hanging out everywhere. Again, not an issue, but tacky... It's for sure not worth the price we paid. read more

We had a one night stay at Vinland Hotel and I have to say across the board some of the least friendly staff I have ever encountered. I understand that Solvang is very busy at the holidays but a little kindness and customer service goes a long way. They all seemed to be incredibly annoyed by all the guests and any and all requests. It was borderline uncomfortable how rude they all were. Location was nice. The rooms were fine, but very loud. We were in a "city view" room and it was on the first floor basically right at the street and between the street noise and the AC (that had to be run because our room was an absolute sauna), it was so loud. Then add to it the clydesdale horses who were staying at the room above us and apparently galloping around their room until 1am, it was one of the worst night's of sleep I've ever had. read more

I'm beyond disappointed with the Vinland Hotel. I booked a room through a third party for Friday the 14th, but unfortunately had a medical emergency and needed to cancel or move my reservation. The third-party representative called the hotel and spoke with Teresa, politely explaining the situation and asking if, given the emergency, they could waive the cancellation fee just this once. Teresa's answer was a cold "No." I then called myself, hoping that speaking directly would help. Teresa got on the phone and immediately gave me attitude. I calmly explained that I had a doctor's note and wasn't trying to take advantage of anything, just asking for understanding. She repeated that she wasn't waiving the fee because "that's not policy," and when I said I might call my bank to dispute the charge, she flat-out told me, "That's what you'll have to do." Frustrated, I asked to speak to a manager and got Maria. I explained the situation again, hoping she would show at least a little empathy, but she didn't. Her tone was just as dismissive and cold. And when I told her I'd be writing a review about my experience, she hung up in my face. At that point, their message was crystal clear: "We don't care about your emergency; we just want your money." It's disgusting how little compassion or professionalism this hotel shows. My wife and I come to Solvang every year for our anniversary and enjoy trying new hotels -- but after this, we will never stay at the Vinland again. I thought for 4 days before posting this review. My predominant reasons for thinking so very hard about it are: 1. Thor, Rick and Raquel. These team members really did make our experience worth while. 2. I don't give "ok" reviews lightly. We arrived 2 hrs before check in-Thor was so very kind to let us park and begin touring the community without worrying about traffic or parking. Raquel was in the lobby tidying up. When I spoke to her, she was ecstatic to show me where the coffee/sugar and other items were. This was so welcoming and set the tone for the visit well. That evening we met Rick. He's a delight to interact with and definitely loves his job!!! So, why 3 stars you may be asking? Valley view means looking at trees and not the street. But the trees are dense and there is nothing visible through them. The heat went out on night one. We woke up to a room so cold I could not move. Not a problem. Thor came in, showed us a trick to reset the heater and we once again had a warm room. Come back that evening...no heat. Reset. Wake up next morning to no heat. So...I tell the front desk there's a problem. Young lady says, oh I didn't know you had a problem. I'll get you a space heater. Return that evening. No space heater. So, we jacked the heat up to 76 and let the room boil so that when the heat "malfunctioned" over night we wouldn't freeze. This was really a big part of the end of my day. I know a hotel is a place to shower/sleep but come on. Figuring out how to "out think the malfunctioning heater" is not what I expected for my romantic holiday to Christmas town. The last is also for management. The only furniture in the room was our bed and a desk chair. No table. No couch. When I woke up before my husband I sat awkwardly in the bed playing on my phone. When we reheated leftovers for a meal, we sat awkwardly at the foot of the bed. When we watched tv or put on our shoes. You guessed it, we sat at the foot of the bed. These experiences felt forced ...like the person who designed the room said "no one actually spends time in their room while on vacation. All they need is a shower and bed". Though I do not disagree with the overall thought, as a guest, you are in the room for more than sleep. People drink coffee and check messages. People eat meals and (not in my case) have children who want snacks. A bed and a desk chair is really just being cheap in your furniture. Plain and simple. read more

The food, service and ambiance is ok however im not sure how clean it is beyond the smell of bleach in the sheets. The pump bottles they definitely reuse for toiletries such as shampoo had built up residue in the cracks. I only noticed it AFTER my shower filled the cracks enough to reveal the brown and black goo; ew. I support recycling and reusing but not when the objects in question are impossible to completely clean. They need new and different bottles before someone gets sick. read more

We had a very nice overnight stay. Check-in was quick and efficient, and the front desk staff was very friendly. Room was spacious with comfortable beds, and there was a neat partial open concept, where the bathroom sink and mirror were essentially part of the living area. The shower/tub and toilet are in their own room, which was a little cave-like. Shower pressure was super-strong, which caused some problems as the water easily splashed onto the bathroom floor, so make sure the curtain is completely closed. AC was effective, but a little noisy. Wi-fi was decent, but we oddly had to sign back in every time we came back to the room (rather than the network remembering our devices for at least 24 hrs). We really could've used more electrical outlets; consider bringing your own powerstrip or a charger with multiple ports if you have a bunch of things to plug in. The fridge did not have a freezer section (which we had hoped for, since we had an icepack for our cooler) -- the front desk directed us to the bar, who cheerfully agreed to store the icepack in their freezer until we needed it. There's also a microwave and Keurig machine. No in-room safe. Plenty of complimentary covered parking, and there are two 12A Tesla chargers (which charge at about 6 miles/hr), first come first served. We didn't have time to take advantage of the pool or hot tub. The pool is small but looked well-maintained -- best for cooling off and playing with the kids rather than swimming laps. The hotel is located at the west end of the main downtown area -- not in the very heart, but the downtown area is small enough that it's still an easy walk to reach all areas. Overall, this is a very good hotel choice. The issues I mentioned above were all pretty minor in the big picture. read more

My daughter and I stayed at the Vinland Hotel and Lounge in Solvang back in June, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. After our stay, we discovered that we had gotten bed bugs from the hotel bed. When I contacted the hotel, the supervisor confirmed that they found a trace of bed bugs in the room. However, the general manager chose not to take responsibility and essentially tried to sweep the issue under the rug rather than address it properly. This has been an expensive and stressful process to deal with - from treating our belongings to ensuring our home was clear of any infestation. I'm sharing this review simply to warn others and encourage future guests to check their rooms thoroughly before settling in. It's really unfortunate, as I expected much more from a hotel at this price point and reputation. read more

I recently stayed at Vinland Hotel in Solvang with my family, and overall, it was a pleasant experience! We booked a two queen room, and the beds were incredibly comfortable--perfect for a restful night. The shower had great water pressure, which is always a plus, and the location couldn't have been more convenient. Solvang Market is right across the street, so if you forget anything, it's no problem at all. Plus, being so close to both Paula's Pancake House and Osteria made dining out a breeze--both restaurants are local favorites and are definitely worth checking out. Another nice perk is that the hotel is a short drive away from Ostrichland USA, which was a fun and unique experience for the family! They also offer a nice complimentary coffee bar throughout the day, which was a great touch and perfect for getting an extra caffeine boost. One of the highlights for us was the lounge area. We brought a few board games and had a fun time relaxing in the evening. The staff was welcoming and friendly, which made the stay even more enjoyable. However, I do have to mention a couple of drawbacks. First, the air conditioner. It was so loud! It sounded like a jet taking off every time it kicked on, and that noise was on and off throughout the night. It did make it harder to sleep at times. That said, the front desk was kind enough to offer a portable air conditioner to help with the noise, which we appreciated. Also, while not the hotel's fault, we could hear a kid stomping and jumping upstairs, and that noise was pretty loud. It definitely made things a bit less peaceful, but luckily, it quieted down once they left. Lastly, the fan in the bathroom was broken, which made the room feel a bit steamy after showers. It wasn't a huge issue, but it would have been nice if that were working. Despite these small issues, I would still recommend Vinland Hotel for its cleanliness, comfort, location, great amenities, and the overall welcoming vibe. We enjoyed the comfort of our room, however, a couple of nice chairs would be a great addition since there is nowhere to sit except the bed & desk chair. The bed & pillows are very comfortable. The overhead rain shower head is a nice touch but the water pressure is not strong enough & hair gets wet if no shower cap. V Lounge was great! We stayed here last year & had the pleasure of meeting Rick & his Key Lime Pie Martini. We saw Rick the first night of our stay but enjoyed meeting AJ the next 2 days at Happy Hour & night cap time. This was such a quality find for a somewhat last minute reservation! On a whim, my friend and I decided to visit Solvang/SLO area. We drove to solvang on a Thursday night, arriving at the hotel just before 10am. Staff were courteous, polite and gave us coupons for wine tasting and breakfast the next day (the breakfast was received through the website where I booked the hotel). The next morning, we stopped back into the lobby for coffee before exploring the town. Every single staff member who we came into contact with were so friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself was also very clean and per their website, recently upgraded (2020). If you're passing through town or looking for a place to stay, I recommend Vinland. It's right on the edge at the beginning of the village, so you can easily loop through and end right back at the hotel! read more
