After being pretty disappointed with our experience at a nearby tiki bar, we were heading back to our Airbnb when we stumbled across Lost Chord Guitars. Talk about a happy accident. We were lucky enough to catch the last two songs of ZB Savoy before they wrapped up for the night, and it was the perfect way to end the evening. The interior is awesome--guitars everywhere, great artwork, photography on the walls, and a vibe that immediately makes you want to hang out a little longer. It feels part music venue, part gallery, and part neighborhood hangout. The service was nothing but friendly from the moment we walked in. We grabbed a beer, which was cold and crisp, and noticed they also had a solid wine selection. If you're in Solvang and looking for something a little different from the typical tourist stops, I highly recommend checking this place out. Great atmosphere, friendly people, and live music to top it off. Can't wait to come back on our next trip. read more

My best friend got us tickets to see Tony Evan's Jr. play with his band here on a Sunday night. Walking in, we were warmly greeted. It's your standard bar, serving beer and wine with the stage more visible as you walk further in. We found a comfy sofa off to the side that had a good view of the stage and settled in with our drinks. The ambiance and the performance was awesome. I loved it! Also, the bathroom was clean so that's a huge plus. I can't wait to come back with my friend and enjoy more performances. read more

Cute little place we spotted while walking back to our hotel. Beer selections were minimal. As were wines. Odd for a town where you can't throw a rock in any direction without hitting a wine tasting room. My husband and I really love Lost Chord Guitars and have ever since he first discovered it on our first trip to Solvang many years ago. My husband is a musician and is looking to play here sometime. We've enjoyed many free shows at this venue throughout the years. The bar/shop has wonderful free concerts Wednesday to Sunday evenings and delicious local wine and beer. I've attached the most recent wine and beer list as the gal that works the bar informed me they rotate the alcohol list every so often. My husband and I attended Tom Gastineau's live concert Wednesday, April 16, 2025. He plays soothing, mellow keyboard music. We sat in the back on the comfy couch while petting Tom's dog, Toto and sipping wine. We bought a bottle of the Lost Chord Alto Blend bottle of white wine and it was absolutely delicious to the last drop. I highly recommend attending an evening show at this venue. It's free and they've got great music played by wonderful musicians. You'll really enjoy it and it'll heighten your stay while at Solvang. read more

Bartender Elise took such great care of us. Beer, wine and coffee is de rigeur here! This feels like a cozy mini-theater. Bar on the left, stage straight ahead and coffee shop area back left. They feature different musical acts. Patrons very respectful of the musical craft displayed here and intently listen. Not much loudness from the audience during the acts but the crowd gets louder during breaks. Lots of parking. Seat yourself. No cover charge for the acts but tips are accepted. Comfortable. This place is right next door to the hotel we were staying at which was very convenient. City of Solvang closes super early but this place is basically the only place that stays open until midnight. They also have outdoor tables. We came at 8 and each got a drink. They have a limited list of wine, beer, and beverages. We sat down to enjoy the live performance by Jackson Gillies. Had an absolute wonderful time. This was Friday night. My friend had beer while I had rose. We had a wonderful time and couldn't wait to return. The next day, Saturday, places nearby had live music until 9 and this place was the place to be after 9. We came in and the artist was on break, however the person behind the bar told us it'll resume soon until 11 and $10 cover charge. I looked on the website and confirmed it did say $10 cover charge but we weren't charged the night before. Maybe they meant $10 minimum purchase? I'm sorry, but I'm not going to pay cover for a band I don't know when I'm going to buy multiple drinks with tip and tip the artist. For that reason, I'm knocking down a star. read more

The Lost Cord is a hidden gem. I would say it is an intimate music venue, posing as a wine tasting location, posing as a guitar shop. The music is great and varied. All performances are great. There are rock and roll performances, country performances, and everything in between. The venue is more like a living room than a theater. It does not get more intimate with the musicians than this. Occasionally they have drop in guest stars as well. The wine and beer are good as well. I only wish they offered more than chips, nuts and cookies. You can bring something with you though. Solvang has no shortage of places which can provide you a takeout box. I had forgotten just how intimate it was when I arrived early only to find that the very worst seat is fantastic. Go for the music, enjoy a beer or a glass of wine and relax. Get off of your couch and sit on theirs! read more

Overdue review!! We randomly came accross this venue during our walk in quaint Solvang. We had just stuffed ourselves with beer and wanted more beer (makes sense right?) The name caught my attention, we were in for a treat. As soon as we walked in we saw a bunch of... chords! Guitars on the wall and no people *sits down*. This venue looked intimate, hopefully we can come back and enjoy a show one day. What we did enjoy was Kelsey's company and conversation. He's been working there during the pandemic, he shared his experience and stories. I definitely enjoyed my time there! So much kudos to Kelsey. I think he's due for a raise. This place was really fun. We found out about it from a winery that was on the main strip stating that they were going to have a band playing later that night, so we decided to venture there and it was soo fun! The place was packed and they had a nice set up so you could sit or stand and hear the music. There wasn't a wide selection of drinks, but the beers hey did have on tap were good and the bartender was one it. He was soo busy and yet you didn't wait too long for him to help and he had a great memory as well when you got another. The bathrooms were around the corner, which was interesting, that is definitely a theme here in this city, the bathrooms not being inside venues, but they were clean and plenty of stalls and the band that played was soo good! They played some covers and also their own music, the lead singers dad was there cheering and handing out posters, it was cute. We had lots of fun. So at first I would have rated poorly based on service. Turns out there was a reason, I'm extremely happy the owner of Sear Steakhouse told me my impression of Lost Cord was abnormal. Therefore, this review would have been a 1 but we tried again. Arwen was outstanding. She even let us chill while they were cleaning up. From my experience this is normally reserved friends or regulars. We were nether so I'm even more appreciative to be treated with such hospitality. Kudos to this small, local treasure. As a guitar shop, Lost Chord displays about a dozen niche and high-end instruments on the walls behind the bar. Even Guitar Center makes rare and valuable guitars more accessible. Fail. Every joint has a bad night, and judging by the other reviews, my recent experience was very much an outlier. There were staffing issues, - the owner had to work the floor. You know how bad that can be! - But more importantly a lack of promotion and preparation for the gig and a lack of respect for the musicians set a bad tone for what should have been a great night. The Lost Chord seems like the kind of a place supported by regional bands who bring in their own audience. If the owners hope to create a venue that attracts a higher tier of independent professional musicians and earn the reputation of a real "listener's room" they need to rethink their strategy. read more

This bar has talent beyond measure with great wine and awesome lager and ale. We attended performances with Jackson Gillies a former American idol contestant and Chris Pelonis. Both awesome singers that the world should hear. This bar is clean, classy, and well managed. Please be courteous and don't distract the talent.
