First off, 2 stars purely for service. I'm not sure who our actual server was lol a lot of hands on our table but I barely noticed due to being disappointed with the food. Ambiance is okay, I guess.. dated a bit and weird with the place mats... makes it seem cheaper than the bill was. We went at 5pm on a Monday - it was pretty empty which was perfect. Didn't start to fill up until we left around 7ish. You do have to pay for parking but there's a garage on the block and I think my ticket was like 3 bucks. First we ordered the baba ghanoush... as you can see in the picture it is not very appetizing looking but the issue was it was SO bland! I'm an eggplant fiend and it tasted like water almost. We sent it back and got the charcuterie board... meh. It was fine, I guess. Don't recommend. The sauce in the middle is sweet? Just not my taste. I wanted to order the salmon by three (annoying it's impossible to find a picture of the dish online, if it's anything like everything else we got it probably wasn't good)... they weren't able to get fresh sushi grade salmon or the roe so they had an impromptu dish offering- salmon with fettuccine in a caper sauce topped with fried ham... it was SO salty! The salmon was dry. It was a good sounding dish just poor execution. Desert we got the raspberry emerald tart, against our better judgement as we hadn't had anything tasty yet, and it was so cold and not fresh that it tasted like nothing. The pistachio cream had fully soaked into the crust. It was just a miss, it was careless. That pretty much describes the whole meal (except the servers!) - the chef did not seem to care at all. The caesar salad was decent, but the complimentary bread with olive oil and butter was delicious. However, the rest of the food including the signature ocean duo is overpriced and mediocre and the plating didn't look very appetizing. The baked Alaska was fine, but it's still overpriced. Overall, I recommend that you go to Lotte if you want a fancy dining experience in Wichita since the food is much better there, and I won't come back to this place again. read more

Had the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly and I personally found it better than KVH. The desserts this time were great, not too sweet, just right. Organized a group dinner here. They were great about me changing the number up 3 then down 2. Service was great and our waitress was helpful in suggesting and organizing appetizers for the table. Sadly my steak was rare when I ordered it medium rare. I hardly ate it. In a group setting, I didn't want to return it. I ate around the edges and my broccolini side dish. I was kinda skeptical about trying this place after seeing its rating, but I figured I'm staying in the hotel so I might as well - the negative reviews centered around service and it's a Tuesday evening. The restaurant wasn't empty, but I was offered a table with no wait. I was alone so I sat at the bar. No delay in being greeted, given water, and a menu. My food and drink orders were taken as soon as I was ready. I ordered a 14oz ribeye medium rare and it came out pretty good. It did have a small bit of char at one end, but likely just from fat melting and grabbing a flame. Definitely not worth counting against a star. Potatoes and asparagus were good. My wife and I have begun to cycle Siena Tuscan Steakhouse into our favorite date-night choices. The menu has a good mix of dishes that most people will be familiar with and some options that are more unique, at least for the Wichita area. The steaks taste like high-quality meats and have always had a perfect temperature and sear, and their pastas and sauces taste like they're made fresh daily in house. I am not a fan of the grilled Caesar salad, as I didn't realize (because the menu didn't specify), that they basically just serve you uncut romaine that's been wilted on a grill, and it was pretty unpleasant. That said, most of the things on their menu have been very good, cooked properly, and taste like they use fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is nice and classy, but not so stuffy that a normal person feels out of place. There is a nice indoor balcony area that overlooks the main dining room, but if they're busy I would suggest waiting for a table in the lower dining area, as the balcony is pretty loud when the restaurant is full. Service has always been very good, with friendly staff who accommodate special requests and act professionally, but they've never blown me out of the water. That said, all I really want from a server at a restaurant is for them to do their job without acting like they're miserable to be there, so I have zero complaints with the staff. My only real "complaint" with Siena Tuscan are the prices...while the food is very good, you pay for it, and there are quite a few items on the menu that I feel are about $3-5 overpriced. The portions are not huge, which is common at higher-quality restaurants, and sides are not included with many of the dinner menu items, so you'll pay extra for them. If you are accustomed to "Texas Roadhouse" portions and prices, you may feel a certain way about the value for money, but in our experience the quality of food justifies the cost. That said, it's not unreasonably expensive, and in more than 6 visits the worst experience I've had is not liking the grilled Ceasar salad, but I think they've since taken it off the menu anyway. read more

We ate here last night, celebrating our recent marriage. Jenny and Scott treated us as if we were the VIPs of the night. We had the filet mignon and the ribeye and both were cooked to perfection. What a hidden gem within a city we have lived in for so many years. Highly recommend. While observing the rest of the staff, everyone was so learned on the menu. We were staying at the Ambassador hotel and decided to try their restaurant. I had requested a table by the window on open table when making the reservation and asked for a window table when we arrived. The hostess said "of course" when we asked. Then her colleague took us to a non-window table. When we asked for the table on the window in the corner, she said it was now reserved - and frankly was a bit snooty about it. BTW, there was no "reserved" sign on the table we requested (after being told we were getting a window table), and no one was seated there until we were paying our bill and getting up to leave. I believe she was lying to us as there was no ability to reserve a certain table when making a reservation. If she was telling the truth, the restaurant management policy should be to put a reserved sign on the table. She probably knows customers just love a 20 something year old snooty hostess making a first bad impression before they are seated. Honestly, we almost left, but it was 101 degrees outside and decided to just stay as we had a great experience in the bar with our pre-dinner cocktails. Once seated, we had excellent service by Sophia and fantastic food on our visit. Prices were not bad for a fine dining steakhouse. I highly recommend everything we had: Homemade focaccia bread, Carbonara pasta, wedge salad, and the Seafood Special of the night (sockeye salmon). My salmon was delicious and perfectly cooked. The presentation was a work of art. We really had to pass on dessert, but there also weren't great options in our opinion to tempt us. Giving Siena a 5 rating despite the hostess who sat us. My buddy and I were in Wichita for the night on our way home from New York. As one does in Kansas, we immediately tracked down a steakhouse and rolled out (stopping by a couple local breweries on the way, of course). Upon arrival, we were greeted by the host, Bri, who was nothing short of spectacular. She was attentive and hilarious, putting up with a couple of guys who'd enjoyed 3-4 heavy IPAs and were feeling no pain. Simply put, Bri is awesome and an asset to Siena! The service and food were excellent... Decent prices for what you get, though certainly not on the cheap end of the spectrum. Well worth it for the ambience and level of attentiveness demonstrated by everyone. Just to reiterate, Bri is AWESOME, the steaks were excellent, and the experience all-around great. When you walk in the restaurant, it's a dark, romantic atmosphere that really draws you in. Delicate rose centerpieces in a glass as a centerpiece on the tables. Along one wall is a wine cellar type display of their wine selection and the other wall are windows that look out onto Douglass and Broadway. I ordered the Hangar Steak cooked to medium well. It was cooked perfectly and very tender. A lot of flavor. The mascarpone garlic whipped mash potatoes were excellent. I had one mixed drink. It was the Jamaican Old Fashioned. Interesting menu. Great selection and lots of variety. Of note the two times I have been there some items were not available. I have tried the Farmer's pasta which was great! Another time tried the 8oz Creekstone Farms Fillet pictured below when it arrived at the table. Cooked as requested and steak was excellent. There are only 4 pieces of asparagus so get sides if you want more food. It took 60 minutes to come out after my appetizer so they gave me a dessert to go. I am not sure this is typical but do not come here if you're in a rush. It is a wonderful restaurant and atmosphere is very pleasant. The wait staff are fabulous. Nice place and atmosphere in the historic Ambassador Hotel, great service, but wasn't overly impressed with the food. I was torn between ordering pasta or a steak, and was pleased to find out I could add on any meat to my farmers market pasta dish. The veggies (tomato, shishito peppers, leeks) seemed a little sparse for the serving, and the pasta was clumped together in a few bites. The steak had good flavor, but was a bit chewy. We had wanted to try this restaurant for some time. Unfortunately this was a pretty big disappointment. To begin with, they apparently have difficulty keeping menu items in stock. I was expecting squid ink linguine as was a listed on the menu. Instead the little neck clams with pasta was served with spaghetti. There is a huge difference here as they are not the same. Even though o heard wait staff telling guests they were out of some of the sides, the fact this dish was materially changed was not mentioned when I ordered. I suspect they thought I didn't know the difference between squid ink linguine, which is black in color, and spaghetti. Had this been mentioned I would have changed my order to something else. The whipped butter served with the bread had the taste of whipped margarine. Apparently the chef thinks making things hotter with spice covers up mistakes. My pasta and my wife's halibut were both very spicy. The pasta so much so that my lips were burning. My wife also said her halibut was over seasoned with pepper. The Arancini and beet salad were both good and the old fashioned was made well. Granted this is a steakhouse and I made the fatal mistake of not sticking with a steak, which is something I generally don't do, but having the opportunity for squid ink pasta in a Midwest restaurant was an opportunity to good to pass up. It's unfortunate that wasn't what was served. Typically we'll try a restaurant a couple of times as most do some items better than others. Maybe we'll go back and try the steaks, but there are other moderately high end options in town that I trust more than what we were served on this occasion. The substitution of spaghetti for squid ink linguine is enough for me to rate this restaurant so low for our experience. Perhaps your experience will be better. Maybe we should have stuck with steaks since this is a steakhouse. read more
