I live in SF and got married in Yosemite a couple weeks ago. I contacted Sierra Flowers and had a few very friendly conversations with the owner about the wedding bouquet that I wanted her to create for me (I decided that I wanted to put the bouquet together myself so she simply supplied me with flowers). I sent her a photo of what I wanted via email and also included a list of about 10 different flowers that I liked she she could include or replace flowers in the bouquet at her discretion. I knew that one or more of the flowers would be out of season or not fare too well in the extreme heat. I supplied her with more than enough information to make my bouquet stellar. I arrived to pick up the flowers and they were ready on time and in a bucket of water, as promised. When I saw the flowers that she had for me I was completely shocked: It did not look like the photo that I sent to her at all. Here is what I got: -3 white mums PAINTED light pink -4 white carnations PAINTED light blue -Eryngiums -Billy Balls -white Fresia -Lisianthus And 2 kinds of leaves... I asked for light pink peonies, though I knew they would be almost impossible to get. I thought that if she couldn't get the peonies she would call me or get something else close. I NEVER expected to get PAINTED flowers. I couldn't really tell that the pink flowers were painted but I could definitely tell that the blue ones were. My biggest problem with the order was that I received carnations. They are the cheapest, ugliest flowers and should never be used in a wedding bouquet, in my opinion. I did ask for the Eryngiums, Billy Balls and Lisianthus, so those were great. She recommended Fresia and I agreed they would go well. However, I asked for Pincushions and I got leafy plants that look NOTHING like Pincushions. The colors weren't even close either. She also threw in what looked like rose leaves on a thin stalk. The photo that I sent to her was a bit more bright and had more of a variety of colors. I received dark leaves and less of a variety. However, this is probably due to the fact that she had to special order the Billy Balls and Eryngiums so they came in a large quantity. I tossed the carnations and the "rose leaves." I used everything else (still fuming about the painted flowers). I bound the bouquet with twine for and it looked great, just NOTHING like what I asked for. I'm glad that I didn't have her arrange it for me because I would have had a fit trying to take out the stuff I didn't like. The end product looked great but was not what I was looking for. It could have been a disaster but it went well with my dress and we didn't have a lot of decorations at our ceremony or picnic reception so all was A-Okay. I would recommend Sierra Flowers but just keep in mind that you're picking up flowers from a very small town so it's a little more difficult to get fancy flowers, like I asked for, and it may not be exactly what you had in mind. BUT, the job certainly gets done and it's not half bad. Great price. Maybe a tiny bit high for what I got (maayyyyybe) but if so it's only because she's so far from a big city. I ordered flowers for my daughter, who lives in Groveland, for Mother's Day. The florist was so kind and friendly and said they were making arrangements with local field flowers and assured me they would be beautiful. They were delivered the Friday before Mother's Day because my daughter wouldn't be home the next couple of days. I asked for a vase that would be more rustic rather than traditional. My daughter received them and said they were incredibly beautiful, and they were. The vase was a metal/tin? vase and really set off the flowers. Today is almost two weeks, and most of them are still fresh looking. I would choose this florist any time I wanted flowers. read more

Saved Mom's Birthday! The lovely ladies at Sierra Flowers truly came through and went above and beyond to make sure my Mom received a beautiful bouquet of flowers and balloons on her birthday! I ordered from one of those online sites (eye roll at myself, never again will I make that mistake) several days before my Mom's birthday (which happens to be right before Valentine's Day) on her birthday they couldn't tell me where the order was or when she would receive it. I called Sierra Flowers in the afternoon, during a busy season, with bad weather in the mix...they could have told me there was nothing they could do, instead they were extremely kind and said "let's see what we can do." She picked out a beautiful, cheerful arrangement with balloons for me....even sent me a picture and let me know when they were on their way to her!
