Today I had a Yakima racking system installed by Amos down at Sierra Truck and van. I've had the owner Hugh help me with my previous truck as well in getting all the accessories I needed to run my business. I'm very picky on who I have working on my vehicles and these guys treat your vehicle as if it were their own. The team as a whole are helpful, kind and very knowledgeable. Super excited the way my set up turned out. Looks amazing! Can't say enough good things about todays and past experiences here. I took my pickup in to install a Brake Controller installed and they took me right in. Amos suggested my trailer connections were old and not in great shape but I decided to see if they were working ok later. I forgot about it but today as I was preparing to tow my trailer I discovered that my controller was not "seeing" my trailer. I took truck and trailer back and Amos was right and they took me right in again and fixed me up. I found Amos to be a straight forward, trust worthy guy and told him so. Took a Ford Maverick in for a spray in bed liner and couldn't be more pleased. Dave was informative and very easy to work with. The installation was outstanding. The Maverick bed has many tie down hooks, storage areas, and electrical outlets. All screws and items were removed, including from the tailgate, to avoid overspray and replaced after the job was complete. The bed also has many pre-drilled holes for adding additional attachments. All those were plugged before spraying so they can be accessed after the install. The finished job was as good as you can get. Absolutely smooth and even. No sign of any over spray, bubbles or thin areas. The bed floor by the tailgate was completely covered as well ad the tailgate. No chance of any scratching while moving things in and out. And extra coverage on the inner portion of the bed where the tailgate meets when closed. A very professional job. You can tell they take their time to do it right. And you can get it done in one day. read more

I have used these guys a couple times. I really wanted to try to get something online and save a few bucks but if you buy it from here and install it yourself the difference in cost is negligible to have someone to actually talk to. And the labor rate to get it installed is worth not having to fool around with it. Jeff Bezos is not going to give you this type of service! These guys have done quite a few projects for us. Most recently a camper shell and sliding bed for my F150. I accidentally left with the keys to the loaner car, I live in Vacaville so does the owner, he stopped by my house to pick up the key rather than making me drive it back down there. That is above and beyond. I will never try to save a few bucks by going online again. At least for truck stuff! read more

Came to get the cover repair on my pick up. I would say it's been one of the best customer service I've experienced from a truck supply. Manager and workers were very knowledgeable and understood my needs. They had a great supply inventory and were able to answer my questions. My $1000 Mistake It was my sincere hope to be able to add to the many positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience has been completely contrary. PLEASE take a few minutes to read this review before making the same mistake I made by trusting Sierra at their word. As a brief background, in August I began shopping for a new/used camper shell for my truck. Talked to several dealers who expressed lead times for a new shell in the range of 12-14 weeks or better. One dealer even told me that if someone gave me a shorter time line that they were not being honest with me. I should have listened. During my search, spoke to Dave at Sierra who assured me that his lead time for a Leer (which, by the way, was not my first choice) was significantly less because of their relationship and that the manufacturer was local (Woodland). Dave asked that I bring in the truck to properly measure, paint code, etc. Told me that 6-8 weeks was their normal delivery time and, in fact, had shells arrive even sooner. This was August 27 and I had two extended trips planned for November so the 6-8 week lead time seemed to good to be true. Well, it was/is too good to be true. I placed the order and gave Dave/Sierra a $1000 deposit. All good. I made a call to Sierra on September 24 just as a checkin and to see if any production updates. The response was no update although would call me as soon as they heard. No followup. I called again on October 27. Dave said he would call Leer and get an update for me. Received a return call from Dave a few hours later. My shell had been "assigned a number and was in production". He said that it might be delivered later that week but most likely the following week. Obviously, the camper shell was not going to meet my November expectations (and I made hotel reservations...$$). On November 19, I once again initiated a followup call and spoke to Hugh (owner). I expressed my frustration that Dave had completely misrepresented the delivery schedule in order to close the deal. Interesting conversation with Hugh. He said he sits behind Dave and was aware of our conversations and totally aware of the expectations Dave communicated. It was, in my opinion, clear that Hugh was not happy with Dave's commitments since, as he said to me, the dealer does not control manufacturing. Hugh said he would call Leer and get back to me. What really seemed inappropriate to me was that Hugh asked me to express my unhappiness directly to Dave. Is it not the role of the boss/owner to counsel an employee?? Ask your customer to do the dirty work?? Ok, so sometime later on November 19, I received a voicemail (not a phone call) from Hugh saying that Leer was waiting for a door part and would get back to me. On November 22, Hugh called to say the missing part(s) were received and waiting assembly. Shipment TBD. Told Hugh I was going to cancel. He said the order could not be canceled once submitted and that I would lose my $1000 deposit. Well, this has been an extremely, costly mistake on my part. I should have listened to the other dealer who told me anyone offering an expedited delivery schedule was not being honest with me. You can only hope that, especially with all our challenges of late, you be treated honestly and with integrity. I can not express how difficult it is to loss this sum of money. Perhaps Hugh will put a ribbon on the shell (once finally delivered) and give it to Dave as an early Christmas gift. read more

Our thanks goes to Dave Hirsch for helping us find a Coupler Latch Lock for our extended hitch receiver. We have a bass boat and expect to participate in a tournament on the Delta. Our last lock met an untimely end, but we didn't want someone to drive off with our boat trailer. Wal-Mart offered a poor choice of locks - don't waste your time there if you want a quality product. I've had several interactions with the employees including Dave and Hugh. Dave has been exceptionally rude, evasive and non-responsive not only in the store but also after promises of getting back to me regarding a written quote for windows and electrical work by either phone and email. Total run around and BS. I've contacted him several times without a reply. Workmanship is only fair and the worker left a mess of sharp metal shards all inside my new van that cut my dogs paws. I recently was shopping for a toolbox that would fit my 2020 Ford F-350 Short bed fitted with a 5th wheel hitch. Had an idea what I wanted but wasn't sure how they would fit. I stopped by Sierra on Saturday not knowing they are closed on Saturdays due to Covid. Hugh happened to be inside when he saw me shake the locked door. As I was getting back in my truck he came out and said I was welcome to come in and see his selection of tool boxes. He guided me over types and quality which I had already researched. Before ordering the box he allowed me to try a similar box to test for fit and clearances to the 5th Wheel hitch. I ordered the box which was priced better than many competitor, including online, and it arrived the next day as promised. I was apprehensive about having installed in my new truck due to issues with other shops poor workmanship but Hugh walked me through the installation, we meet with the technician and discussed how I wanted installed. We are passing through to the Fairfield area & relied on Sierra Truck & Van's positive reviews on yelp. We were shopping in a hurry for a one piece tonneau cover. Compared to vendors in Southern California, they offered a significantly less lead time for a Leer brand tonneau cover. Amos was very informative about pros/cons between brands & models. He also introduced us to another option -- UnderCover SE -- that happened to be available sooner. It was convenient to take advantage of a one day lead time for the UnderCover SE tonneau cover & it was installed within 2 hours. We are super happy with the overall seamless look on our older truck. Visited establishment to get some pricing on installing a towbar, light control and assisted braking system on my new 2017 dodge 1500 so that I could pull it behind an RV. Visited With Dave at the customer counter and another gentleman that sits right behind him at a desk. After asking about pricing the gentleman at the desk said that it's going to be expensive, around $5,500.00. I said WOW! more expensive then I thought it would be but it is what it is.... They should change the name of this business to "Sierra Truck and Excuses" or "Sierra Truck and He Said She Said". I called on a Friday and spoke with Hugh, who is the owner of the business. I asked Hugh if he could take care of a wheel bearing and brake issue on my flatbed trailer. Hugh said that he could, and that I could bring the trailer in anytime. I asked Hugh if I could bring it in on the following Monday and he said of course I could. I SPECIFICALLY asked him if he could complete the work by the close of business on Wednesday, and he committed to doing so. I dropped off the trailer Monday morning, Hugh was not there, so I told Dave about my conversation with Hugh and Dave said that he would confirm with Hugh that they could get the work done by Wednesday. I said thank you, and I confirmed with Dave that they had my cell phone number, and I asked him to contact me if there were any issues. Wednesday rolled around, and around 2:00 PM I called and spoke with Dave and asked him to confirm that I could pick my completed trailer up before they closed. Dave said "Uhh...you said Friday, right ?" I said, "No Dave, I said close of business Wednesday, and I believe that you confirmed that with Hugh." Dave then proceeded to tell me that there was a part that they needed that had not arrived on time, and "my guy who was working on it showed up late for work today." Those are commonly known in the repair industry as "excuses". Dave told me that once the parts came in, they would get to work on my trailer immediately and it would take one hour to install the part. He told me that it should be done by 9:00 AM on Thursday. I asked Dave to call me as soon as he completed work on the trailer so that I could come and pick it up, and he assured me that he would. Thursday came and went. I was out of town. No message, no call. No trailer. Friday arrived with a vengeance, and I returned home, expecting at least a call or message about my trailer. No call, no message. No trailer. Friday afternoon, I decided that I would stop by Sierra Truck and Excuses and check on my trailer. Hugh, the owner of the business (let me clarify that, he owns the business) was there, getting ready to close up. I asked him if there was any word on my trailer. Hugh said, "oh sure, it was ready to go yesterday". I told him that I had received no call from anyone letting me know about that, and Hugh told me: "Well, when I speak to a customer, I write down what we discussed and I make sure I follow through with it. If I don't help the customer myself, my guys have their own way of keeping track of things." Yes they sure do. It's a shame that this business is run with complete disregard for competent customer service. They are close to my home, and my trailers constantly need work. But as I told Hugh, they will not be seeing another penny of my money. read more

I have purchased equipment or supplies from this company three times in the last 2 years. The last time was just exceptional. Just my luck a tree branch fell and busted the window out of the shell on my truck camper. Within the next week I was planning on a hunting trip and I contacted the owner Hugh and explained my situation.
