I have been going to this hardware store for 20 years. While there are two larger big box hardware stores in town that I frequent, Ace is the place to go for specialized tools, fittings, advice. I go here when I need a certain length of chain cut for my fence, or if I only need a few nuts and bolts for a project instead of a pre-packaged bag. I always get prompt, friendly and professional assistance here. One employee stands out, and that is the tall German assistant, Edgar. That man certainly knows his way around tools and other areas of DIY. While many prices are higher than at other larger hardware stores, the quality of product and service here can't be beat. Even the garden center has plants that are not over-fertilized so that when you take them home, they die from nitrogen withdrawal. Most plants I get from Ace survive and thrive. read more

Unfortunately this ACE (in Sierra Vista) is pretty discriminatory on who they speak to and help. I've tested this on two occasions. This doesn't mean everyone who looks like me is getting the same treatment. But what I can say is that I did. You walk in and the ladies up front will look at you or act like they don't see you then right behind you is someone "else" and they are chipper and all "HI! Welcome to Ace." The very kind sounding gentleman at the assistance desk in the middle - I heard ask several people if they needed help when they walked by. No one did. I actually did need help...so I walked by just to see if I'd be asked like all the others had been asked. I made sure to walk right in front of him and he looked but keep silent. To ensure it is understood that I don't go looking for trouble - I normally just ask for help if I need it or speak first. I am really not that pressed about anything. However, when things are blatant you have to stand for something. In my case - my hard earned dollar. Either way, may God bless all of them. My final decision had been made. I'll go to Ace in Tucson before I ever enter these doors again. read more

Went in to emergency yesterday for a heart problem but seems like they were playing with my heart, different doctors telling one thing the other telling you another thing so I wanted out to go to my PCP and the nurse told me it only takes 4 min and your dead, if you have a heart attack but if you stay we can give you meds and monitor you......No, I want to go home! Ok so just sign here this is to let you know that we are not responsible for what happens next....ok where do I sign....no discharge paper works that I have been seen there and no meds given when I left....the admitting doctor told me I can leave if I want to...but I have to call my PCP but up until now I still don't know what's the problem with my heart is so I'm scheduled to see my PCP today at 5:30p read more

The owner Les was completely rude when I asked him a question. I have never met such an arrogant snarky dude who acts like he is taking hormones. He was so nasty when I was asking him questions I decided to go to another ACE. But he owns Sierra Vista, Bisbee and Benson Ace Hardware. Next closest is Corona de Tucson and that is where I went. A very compact hardware store compare to bigger box stores. They have almost everything minus wide selection of lumber. The garden center is amazing though with good selection of fruit trees (pomegranate, apple, peach, and more) and great prices too! The lady (don't remember her name) that helped us with picking the right peach was friendly and very knowledgable about the plants - even gave us tips on the best way to replant and suggest ratio mixture of mulch and regular soil. I signed up for their rewards card, so I will definitely comeback to scope out other stuff at my local ACE hardware. read more

My elderly father in law went into this facility and had a run in with a young, inappropriate, unprofessional young girl. After another worker disclosed her name, as Taya? she yelled at my FIL and told him to get the F!&! away from her or she would snap. Apparently other customers have had issues with this young girl who doesn't know her job. My FIL said she was on her phone yelling at someone, probably a boyfriend about hating him and leaving her the f!$? alone. Ace if you don't do something about this unprofessional and disrespectful employee, you will loose customers!!!!! read more

Glad I paid Sierra Vista Ace Hardware $20 for a compression test they said I failed, and showed me the door. Landfill here we come! Doh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This Sierra Vista Ace Hardware began earning its five stars immediately as I walked into the store: I was very cordially greeted by Taya -- whose name I learned as I was checking out -- who was not only friendly, but who knew where everything was. She was able to direct me to the two items I came after. Alas, one of them was too pricey for my very limited budget, but the other offered some choices, including a small size that I could afford. Gratefully starting to leave, I saw something else I realized I needed, and at an affordable price, so I picked it up. Then, at the check-out register, I suddenly remembered one more item, and wondered if Ace is the place to find it. Yup. Taya and her colleague, Natalie, knew right where it was. I whined about being unable (My advice: Don't Get Old.) to walk back there and that I'd get it next time ... but Natalie simply ran back to its location, grabbed a package, and ran back to where I was. Thanks to the buyers and managers of this Ace, the store had products I needed; I didn't have to waste a lot of time and energy to find them; and I was treated extremely well. Taya and Natalie, and presumably other employees, were cordial, helpful, and efficient. Sierra Vista is fortunate to have such a great store. By the way, Ace is a sponsor for the Children's Miracle Network. It displays different flavors of chocolate bars at the checkout counter that are delicious, only a dollar, and beneficial to the hospitals of the Children's Miracle Network. The first time I went here I was lookin to buy a thorn less mesquite tree. They had them in stock for $79. I decided to take a check at Home Depot and found the same thing for $49. The selection in the store is not at the same level as Lowes or Home Depot. read more

Ace is one of my favorite stores but because none of the employees are wearing masks and are not adhering to social distancing at all, it makes it way to dangerous for me to shop there. Ace is the place for great customer service and to find those items that the other box stores fail to keep in their inventory! Example: wire shelving plastic clips! You know those two pieces you put together to anchor the shelf.... After almost giving up, I went to Ace... Described it to the wonderful associate and "bam," within seconds had them in hand. Along with a few other items! Service is second to none at this store, but because family owned, prices may be higher. 4/20/17. Shout out to the store manager and paint team! I love coming to this Ace for the personal & friendly service that I rarely get from the big box stores in town. Though I sometimes wonder if not a bit too helpful. Example: I asked for 100% pure silicon, which the gentleman quickly took us to. After asking what the silicone was for, the salesman proceeds to tell me he'd had his Treadclimber for over 10 years, with X-amount of miles, & it's never needed lubed. After a tactical pause & I told him thank you so he'd go away. #1 - I'm a mechanic & like my equipment to be cared for, especially after dropping a couple of grand on this machine. #2 - My Treadclimber is aligned properly, but has a new squeak thanks to going up on the lift cylinders. Not a Rocket Surgeon, but lubrication usually solves that problem. #3 - I'm a customer that asked for specific product. #4 - This doesn't help you make a sale. Thankfully most associates are not as cocky. They are a certified C3 ChipKey Center of you don't want to waste your money at a dealership. read more

Master horticulturist on staff as I recall, stroll through the lanes of plants and yard goodies. They usually have the little rosemary bushes trimmed into Christmas trees around the holidays also. O where do I start.. first I will say that they do have hard to find items. And they do come up and greet you help you unlike the other hardware stores in town. But if it is ok to have those things at the cost of how they treat their employees then more power too you. I have seen the bosses be monster's to their employees I mean down right talk to them like crap to the point of tears for having not ram back the their isle after directing a customer. I have seen them yell and get down on employees for not making enough in the store yet the just bought a cabin up north? Wth. These people who own the stores are just bullies. If you are ok with the bosses treating the employees who do all the work on the floor like crap because they are the little people then more power to you. But I will never shop there again and neither will any one I know. Ask anyone who has worked there or known someone who has.
