My husband worked so hard & saved for months to get me a beautiful custom engagement ring. My gorgeous band was purchased elsewhere and I had Sierra West mount the 3 carat center stone I purchased from them. I never received the appraisal that was promised upon completion so I could not get insurance. After ONE year a prong broke and my center stone completely fell out. My heart was shattered. I reached out to Fred and was told I should have gotten my prongs checked twice a year. That would have been good to know before it was too late. He offered to replace it with a CZ and so generously wave the $50 charge. If you don't want to be gutted like I was, I would recommend going to another jeweler for custom work but if you do decide to trust these people insist upon more than 4 prongs being used to hold your investment together and make sure they give you the appraisal so you can get INSURANCE. I was so disappointed in the entire experience I decided to purchase a replica under $100 and it has lasted years now without a single issue. Price really doesn't matter, the craftsmanship (or lack thereof) does. read more

This place only had one other review and it was poor, so I need to raise my voice here - I've had friends have good experiences with the S-W in Orem, so I thought I would check out this branch since I live in Murray. I was greeted very kindly by Steve and another employee. They were both very helpful as I asked questions about diamonds, moissanite, ring metal options, customization of rings, etc. Even though I came in just as they were closing, they were happy to spend time chatting, showing me rings, and answering my questions. Not once did I feel like Steve was being pushy, and in fact, the very first ring I had them pull out had all the elements of the other rings my girlfriend and I had looked at. (We looked through thousands of rings online and in stores and didn't find a single one that had everything. This ring did.) The employees don't work on commission, Steve has been with the company for 25+ years, and their custom jewelry maker is a 40+ year master goldsmith. They're very good at what they do. I haven't made the purchase yet (I'm on my way there to show my girlfriend the ring tonight) and even if this ring isn't the one she loves, I will likely consider using S-W as my custom jewelry maker based on my experience in this store and my friend's experiences in the Orem location. read more

I went to Sierra West in Sandy yesterday to purchase a ring. I had a general idea of what I wanted, but I wasn't 100% sure. Chad Truman assisted me and he was amazing!! I've purchased quite a few pieces of jewelry over the last few years and I cannot even tell you how many times I've had people try to hard sell me and push things on me without taking time to listen or to let me think things through. Extremely poor customer service! Years ago I took in my ring to have my new bands sized to the same size as my original wedding ring and when I went to pick it they had soldered them all together!!! Not what I asked for, they basically just said sorry and still made me pay for it?!?! So recently I needed that same ring fixed, a diamond had come loose. I thought I'd give them another chance. I walked in and both workers were with clients, totally fine, but I waited and waited. Not even once did either female worker even acknowledge my presence or say we will be with you shortly, nothing aside from a stern glare from the young brunette employee. The sales person was soo pushy! Kept throwing rings at my to try on before asking any questions about what I liked or what I wanted! It was ridiculous. The rings were not pretty and I did not find anything I liked. We finally got out of there but it's just so awkward when the salesperson is waiting for you to choose which rings you like when you don't like anything. read more

I really can't say enough about how great my experience was with Sierra West. I do my research and I'm a very picky/particular buyer, so I shopped around quite a bit. I went to Morgan Jewelers, Zales, Schubach, Massey's, Jared's, Kay's, Rocky Mountain Diamonds, some online retailers, and probably a few others I'm forgetting about at the moment. The vibe I got from the moment I walked into Sierra West was so different than all of those other places. I never once felt like I was being pushed toward a purchase, and they showed genuine interest in making me happy from the start, even when they knew I was just shopping around. I left that first day and came back the next because I knew these were the guys I wanted to work with for my now fiancée's engagement ring. Fred, Jerry, and Theresa all spent so much time with me over a month and a half in making sure everything was just how I wanted it (I did a custom piece). Price, customer service, and quality were all amazing! Marty, the goldsmith who made my ring, did a fantastic job. The ring is BEAUTIFUL and my fiancée couldn't be happier with it.
