Oh my, I love this beach! It's kind of a miracle I say this because it takes a bit of effort to actually get there, but when you (finally) do it is totally worth it. The parking is good because it's free, but also super busy. It is quite a hike to get to the water, seriously I don't think I've ever been on a wider beach. Do NOT forget anything in your car is all I'm saying. The fine, white sand is beautiful and the water is perfectly clear blue. There's plenty of shells to find and this beach is prime for walks because it just keeps going and going - it's a big one. It does get busy here but if you come early or stick around long enough those crowds will die down. Another option is to just move either to the left or right, away from the busy center area by the concession stand and life guard stations. Speaking of crowds.. since you're on a key there are not many ways to get out/off here, if you leave when everyone else does you'll find yourself in major traffic. read more

What is not to love about white quartz sand, crystal clear water and amazing sunsets?!?! This is the most beautiful beach around! There are different accesses to the beach up and down Ocean Boulevard. The public beach is usually very crowded. If you prefer more distance go to the accesses north, for more private like style beaching. Beautiful paradise like place! read more

This was a very nice beach. It has some of the best sand I've ever felt between my toes! It doesn't get hot! I visited in a particularly warm day and the sand never got too hot! I enjoyed chatting with the people around me and hopping in the water for a quick dip. Overall, this is the perfect beach for a relaxing day! read more

Voted the best beach in the USA, Siesta Key's public beach is a gem of white sand that stretches for miles on the gulf coast. There is a large parking lot that fills up daily by 10 am with nice facilities. The beach itself is dauntingly deep (the trek to the water is at least a 1/4 mile thru ploddingly deep sand. Be prepared for most beach carts to require to be dragged a bit to get to the beach. You can rent chairs , umbrellas and small shade tents from vendors on the beach and I'd recommend doing do since you'll be out on a beach with thousands of your fellow humans. Bring your own refreshments. There are no beach vendors for food or drink (disappointingly so) On our stay, a woman met all passersby with a warm smile and welcome. I got the feeling she may be there EVERY DAY interacting with the many beach walkers and runners that pass her perch. Also be ready to wear the sand FOREVER. The tiny grains of white sand will likely go home with you no matter how far away you live read more

This is an awesome beach. Soft White sand and I highly recommend. However do not go to the sunset event at the northern part of the beach. It's turned into a trump rally. Why would you need to politicize a sunset event? Skip the sunset event and go watch peacefully at spot 4 or 5 just as good. read more

This beach is amazing. We were lucky enough to come this way during our wedding vacation in Florida. The sand is made from quartz so it is cool to the touch. They have a nice concession stand and showers. In addition, they also have a little souvenir store and free parking. I really loved this beach as did my family. My daughter was able to sit in the water but wasn't far out either. They also offer chair rentals. read more

Great clean beach! I was able to find a table beside a grill. The tables and grill were clean, surprising for a public beach.

The beach is everything you would expect being rated #1 in the country. Lots of wildlife. Everything is super easy to find. Parking can suck if you show up at the wrong time on the wrong day. Great for taking long walks. It's free. The sunsets are killer which from personal experience makes for an amazing backdrop for a wedding. Go. It's worth it. read more

This is a beautiful beach. Relaxing environment. Not too crowded. The sand is clean and extra white. The water is clear and clean. I normally take a trip to Clearwater but this is now my first choice. There is ample parking. There are on site restaurants. They have picnic tables with grills for your between the parking lot and beach. They have volleyball nets available for use. Plenty of life guards. There is also beach chair and umbrella rentals. Probably my favorite beach from Sarasota to Clearwater. We cruised up and down this area and stopped at all the popular beaches but really enjoyed our time at Siesta Key the most. There are plenty of facilities, picnic tables, snacks, restrooms, rentals for the beach, showers, and a ton of soft sand to dig your feet into. Oh yeah... And FREE PARKING!!! The beach has great sand and the water had just enough motion to keep you bobbing around. We found a ton of sea shells just wading around in the water which was probably our favorite part. The rental station was convenient especially for out of towners with limited supplies. They only take cash so save yourself some time and bring some with you. I don't think it really matters how busy it gets because the beach is huge and there should be no problem finding a spot to chill out. read more

I got the greatest opportunity to come to this beach. This is what I love to do at beaches though- read, listen to music, or nap. Haha. This beach is so clean, has the best sand ever, and the water is almost clear too. I wish I lived closer so I could come here every day. Right when you walk in you will see a bunch of people grilling and have all their picnic tables set up there. I really wanted to be friendly with some people so I can grab some lunch from them haha! read more

This beach is absolutely beautiful. I understand why it's rated so highly. Of course when anything gets rated #1, people are going to have extremely high expectations that aren't always met. The thing to keep in mind is how this beach compares to other beaches. The water is clear and teal-blue, the sand is soft to the touch (like talcum powder), and the beach is CLEAN. Coming from NJ, I'm used to the hot-scorching sand that burns my feet, and this doesn't happen here! Yes, there are nearby beaches that are comparable and not as crowded, but Siesta Key still trumps them. You can tell that extra care is taken in preserving this beach. Sunsets are beautiful as well. Note: I'm giving it a 5, BUT I will say that if you have to drive to the beach, parking can temporarily be a pain in the butt, as they're in the middle of construction. For the most part we walked or didn't park in the main lot, but the one time we did, we made sure to get there early. So, parking was not an issue for us.. but good luck finding a parking spot on a beautiful day at noon. read more

It is always beautiful unless the red tide is around- but can't count that against the beach! Can be busy but worth it.

If you are elderly or handicapped this is not the beach for you the walk from the parking lot alone to where the walkway starts to go to the beaches enough to kill you the walkways about a quarter of a mile long on these rubber mats they put down with divisions in between the pieces so that's where you get caught if you're using a walker. Then once you get to the end of that walkway it's a quarter of a mile to get to the water in the sand which is not easy to walk in . Once you get in the water it's about a quarter of a mile out to get to water up around your waist . And if it's a wavy day as it was yesterday well they knocked me down several times and I'm all black and blue. Elderly and handicap should stay away from this beach . There's so many other beautiful beaches along the Bradenton Sarasota Coast that you don't have to put yourself through your deal that I did yesterday . I will never go there again nor would I ever recommend it to anybody read more

Siesta Beach (sometimes known as Siesta Key Beach) is a beach located on Siesta Key, Florida. What makes this beach unique is that the sand is 99% pure quartz, soft and cool on the feet due to its reflective properties, so it has won best beach awards. Naturally, this pitch makes this sound like a must-see. Unfortunately, after seeing Lido Beach, a local's secret beach, Siesta Key just did not make much of an impression on me anymore. Here's the breakdown: Arrival - Parking was far from the beach and required a walk of almost a block to arrive to the shore, due to barricades and a construction project that was supposed to be completed in November 2013. There are piles of sand on the parking lot, and no end in sight for completion. Bathrooms - This has got to be the filthiest bathroom I have ever encountered in my life. I wanted to take a photo to show the sad state, but did not want to nauseate anyone. Let's just say the floor of the bathroom was littered with tampons, urine so that it smelled like a zoo, toilet paper, and pads. Descriptive enough for you? The city of Siesta Key ought to be ashamed of this, as it gives tourists a horrible first impression. Utterly disgusting, even worse than the public restrooms in Miami that are used by the homeless. The sand - It is pretty, white, fine, and feels like flour. It glistens in the sun. Sounds perfect, right? It also has sandburs scattered around. I found out the hard way when I took off my shoes to walk on the white sand and got poked in between my toes. Ouch! It was also overly crowded, even at 6:45 pm. I cannot imagine how it must have been earlier in the day. The water - Quite warm and shallow, and there is a lifeguard that will blow his whistle at anyone going too far off to the deep end. It's good to know he is watching. I observed small fish around the shoreline, including needlefish. There are barely any shells so if you're into collecting shells, skip Siesta Beach. I was comfortable in the water, floating about, until I saw two pads floating by in the water. What is it with Siesta Key and pads? I left the water and stayed on the sand for a bit before deciding to go back to the motel. As I was about to get into the car, I realized there were no showers or feet washing stations (perhaps due to the construction?). Try to remove as much of the sand from your body as possible, you have no other choice. Don't get me wrong, it's a big beach and has the potential to be great, but it needs some TLC. read more

Ok, so I'm definitely a beach wh0r3 (can I say that on Yelp?)...and Siesta Key is hands-down my favorite thus far from the east to the west to the Gulf coast. White sand that doesn't burn your barefeet when it's 100 degrees and helps reflect the sunlight so that you can get that perfect tan all around. Water is almost always nice... and depending on which beach you're at, it's large enough that you don't feel like kids are kicking sand in your hair every so often. HUGE FAN. I will fly to Sarasota just to lay out on this beach. Seriously. Only setback is probably the traffic, and how ridiculously early you have to get there. Seriously I got to the beach at 7:30AM and I felt like I was late or something. Cuz once that parking lot is full...good luck...I mean, there are plenty of places on Siesta Key to park and then walk in...but I'd rather just wake up early...and continue my sleep on the beach. =D read more

This is a beautiful beach! No wonder it is the #1 beach. While vacationing in Florida, I finally got to check this beach out. Yes its crowded, and parking wasn't easy to find , but parking is free, and they just added more parking spaces . Love the white cool sugar sand. But don't take any home as a souvenir. Apparently its not allowed. I have a good friend who lives there and says its not allowed to take sand from the beach. How they would know sand is missing ,I m not sure, but its true. The water is beautiful, and very clean! You can buy food there and have lunch with a view! I would highly recommend visiting Siesta key is ever in the area. read more
