For this to be a true convenience it makes ZERO sense to require people coming off the beach to wear shoes and shirts to ride. How disappointing to wait for 20 minutes and then be denied a ride because my kids were in swim trunks with no shirts. At least post noticeable signage where this service is offered about the ridiculously strict policy. read more

We caught the Siesta Key Breeze Trolley in Siesta Key Village. The first stop is in the Village and the last stop is Turtle Beach. It is operated by SCAT - the county transportation service. It comes about every 25 to 30 minutes. Unfortunately, there was no air conditioning. It was super hot the day that we were riding! :-0. We did manage to catch a bit of a breeze when the trolley was moving. Just to be clear, it's not a an electric trolley on a rail line. It's a cute little trolley- esque vehicle  (a bus built to resemble a trolley car) that looks like an early 1900s trolley.  It's free and they don't accept tips. It was a great way to get around Siesta Key!  It's well worth a ride. :-) read more

Called and checked online to get bus schedule to beach as visiting from out of town. I was told the bus leaves the mall at 1240pm, I am the next stop so got there at 1235pm. I just turned the corner and the bus was speeding by 10 minutes early! Why would a bus be early?. What is the point of having a schedule? You don't see trains or planes leaving early! I sat in the hot sun until 115pm and another bus never showed, lugged by beach chair and umbrella back to my rental, too late now for the beach. Should have taken Uber, renting a bike tomorrow, don't waste your time with SCAT (stuff comes any time). read more

The trolley is a great service but the app is absolutely terrible and unreliable. I have complained so many times I have given up. Uber mastered basic GPS tracking 10 years ago. SCAT has not, sadly. read more

February 27, waiting for 5:15 99 bus. Never came. When the next bus comes, at 5:45, the driver says she isn't going anywhere, she needs her 30 min break. This is bus service in Sarasota. read more

SCAT is rare for a small city like Sarasota in that its buses are visible via its map app on your PCs and Smartphones. This means for many of the lines, you walk from the beach to the stop, and the Bus is there. Things that could be improved: 1) Rigidly allocate the GPS buses only to line 11: Here people have smartphones, + this is where taxes for the system come from (Siesta beach is ranked one in the US). Siesta key is where car traffic needs to be reduced, and smart people take buses. The Bridge openings on two sides of Siesta key also mean that Line 11 is most "deserving" of the GPS transponder, as this can delay buses. 2) Smartphones labor a bit initially, because 40 stops per lines at 150 pixels per stop are "drawn" in. This should be turned off as default, bec. people can easily figure out where they are from the google map. Let customers turn it on when they want to, otherwise just show the line and where the bus is. 3) Works on firefox and opera, but has stopped working on Chrome. But this is not urgent. Keep up the good work...buses are astoundingly reliable. read more

Took the bus to visit around Sarasota after we returned our rental car at the airport. The driver was knowledgeable and helpful. Got tour downtown Sarasota area, including their Farmer's Market without the hassle of trying to find parking. Great option. read more

Absolutely Horrible. First of all on the website when you click schedules and route maps, it does not give you an option to see all the routes. It lists routes by numbers so you have to click and guess if its one close to where you are, or need to go. Second, there are no such thing as transfers here. If you aren't going in a straight line, good luck. Pay another $1.25 everytime you need to connect to another bus going in a different direction. Some parts of town have no service, (Like most of McIntosh Rd, and its very limited North of Fruitville). This company could take lessons from the bus system in Albuquerque. It's one of the best I've ever ridden. Goes everywhere and you get 1 free transfer per ride. It's probably issues like this that more people choose not to ride this bus system. read more
