Sun N Fun did not live up to our expections. Crowded and very ugly surroundings. Think of a huge mobile home park with amenities. The "park home" 2 bedroom rental is a single-wide Chariot Eagle mobile home consisting of 399 square feet. If the unit had been clean, had comfortable beds, good Wifi, and a water heater suitable for 4 people staying in a rental unit, I'd be much happier. But, the unit failed on all these counts. The biggest issue was hot water. The unit only has a 20 gallon water heater. For 4 people (which is common if there's 2 bedrooms), that size water heater is way too small. We had to really plan out showers and dishwashing since the water heater takes around 1 hour to replenish itself. Other than hot water, the unit wasn't very clean. There were dead bugs around the windows and in multiple areas. I know it's Florida and there are bugs. But, these clearly had been around awhile. Also, under the bed wasn't clean and the sofa-bed had tons of nasty crumbs and debris all over it. In the bathroom, there was mold in the caulking. All of the cleanliness issues bothered my wife quite a bit. As other reviewers have said, the Wifi is pretty bad and nearly unusable. That's not a huge issue if you're on vacation. Still, it's annoying. Likewise, it was pretty annoying to have a large patio that did not have functional lighting. I tried EVERY switch in the house (and storage area) and could not turn them on. Same for the exterior lighting. The beds in the unit were a problem too. The master bedroom had a bed on a metal frame with wheels without stops. It moved every time I got into it. Also, the mattress sagged so bad that I felt like I was in a funnel. I envisioned a well-worn mattress salvaged from a dumpster outside of a Red Roof Inn remodel -- that's how bad it was. Listing is incorrect about the unit having a washer and dryer. The only laundry is in the coin operated facility near the pool. As far as the report itself: The large pool is nice and the waterslide is a decent amenity. But, it is quite crowded because of the size of the resort. So, you have to go early to enjoy it. The location is not bad for getting around Sarasota. You are about 30 minutes from most attractions and the UTC mall is close-by. But, to me, this is basically a big campground. How could they improve? I'd be upfront about it being like a camping experience with cabins. I've stayed at Florida State Park Cabins (which were better than this) and they made it clear what to expect. In this case, the units would benefit from better beds, functioning wifi, bigger hot water heater or tankless system, a vacuum cleaner or way to clean up, and functional lighting (label the light switches too?). Overall: I would not return. For the money, you're better off renting a condo that is nicer and has more space.

There are lots of pros and cons here. We have stayed in park models in this park on and off for 12 years. There are good, better and best park models. This year we stayed in the very best rated unit. Unfortunately my expectations were too high I have a few pictures of the problems. We did have the dishwasher break twice and an issue with the microwave . The repairs were address immediately. That was great! I am posting a few pictures of cosmetic issues that should have been addressed before we arrived. It is a safe place to stay, but very crowded. If you rent a park model, don't bother to pay for an upgraded unit......

This was our Fisrt stay here. We stayed in a park model - platinum tier. The unit was quite large, well stocked and clean. We really enjoyed it. Only con is the bed is very squeaky. If your partner is a restless sleeper - could be an issue for you. Our unit was 376. This facility is very large with many amenities. We'd love to stay here again.

Absolutely loved our trip here. The kids had so much fun. There was so much for them to do: shuffleboard, horseshoes, Gaga ball, arcade, pool, hot tub, water slide... and a DJ to entertain them for Saturday night dance party while bartender was has specialty drinks for the moms for Mother's Day.

When my parents told me they were going to be living in an RV park in the winter, I was skeptical. HOWEVER, this place suprised me in all that it had to offer even people my age :) It is a large park, well lit and maintained, very clean, free wireless, big pool, multiple hot tubs and a restaruant and bar on-site. I have made several trips there to stay with my parents for holidays, and it's relaxing and fun. There are small workout centers with weights and equipment we can use for free, they have lawn bowling, tennis, bocci ball, sand volleyball, RC boat races, and shuffleboard among other things.... Their pool is very large, and their hot tubs are also fairly large too. Never overcrowded which is nice. Have not eaten at the bar or restaurant yet (my mom is an amazing cook, even in a tiny RV kitchen), but it always seems to have happy patrons there. A really nice feature is that the place is pet friendly. Not only are dogs allowed but they have several large dog parks, paved paths to walk on and they even have at least one pet prade for the holidays. For activities, there are always things going on. I know there is an active red hat club there that my mom enjoys participating in, but there are also classes, a craft room with inexpensive classes, regular potlucks and holiday parties. Plenty to keep anyone busy. For regulars, they also even have a full service post office, garbage dump, recycling, and water and electric hookup for the long haul. If you don't have an RV they apparently also rent RVs as well as permanent residences on-site. Best part of it all, you are only 10 minutes from beaches and 15 minutes from the Sarasota airport. If you want to head to Tampa, you can be there in 40 minutes or less. We were in St Pete in 25 minutes... If you want to stay close by, there are plenty of restaurants, grocery stores and lots of shopping nearby as well. Definitely worth checking out....

Great overall campground for rvs park models and rentals it has many amenities like a fitness center mini golf playground stained glass workshop meeting rooms and dog walk area but the rules are a little excessive like an indoor pool not allowed for children and a fitness center not allowed for children and avoid taking a trip here during winter/spring season because most of the amminitys are closed and a sewage ventilation system very near the pool but still an overall good Rv park!

We travel often for competitions and this by far has been the best place we've stayed at in Southern Florida. The community is well maintained as were the amenities. Having a cottage versus a hotel room was the best. The one bedroom was perfect for us (2 adults + toddler). Stores are close and convenient....and the best thing. NO DIRTY CLOTHES to bring home. There is a washer and dryer in the cottage as well. Love this property and so grateful we found it. Will highly recommend anyone book here as well we are already looking forward to a return trip.

Arbor Terrace claims they can accommodate 45' RVs, but it is simply just TOO tight, with unlevel lots you'll sink in. Go elsewhere! Campground employees asked us to move TWICE during our six-day stay... It was hard enough getting into the one spot we were already in, but the space they wanted us to move to was even tighter! We had to refuse moving, because we just would not have fit & would've hung up our rig. Next door neighbor told us big RVs get stuck in the lots fairly often here. It's a really nice park, overall: clean, quiet, friendly... but the infrastructure fits smaller sized campers, best.

The RV sites are spacious, well-maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. Unlike many campgrounds where you're practically sharing coffee with your neighbors, Myakka provides plenty of room and natural vegetation between sites. It felt private, peaceful, and uncrowded. If you enjoy the outdoors, you'll never run out of things to do here. There are miles of hiking and biking trails, abundant wildlife, and excellent opportunities for photography and birdwatching. For those looking for a little adventure, the canoe rental outpost offers a chance to paddle the Myakka River and lake system while getting up close and personal with about 10 bazillion alligators. (The OG Floridian!) One attraction you absolutely shouldn't miss is the Trail and Observation Tower. The suspension bridge is a fun experience, and the views from the 72-foot tower are spectacular. Looking out across miles of untouched Florida wilderness really gives you an appreciation for how wild and beautiful this state still is. One word of caution: be mindful of the poison ivy. It's everywhere around campsites, trails, and wooded areas. As a native Floridian who should know better, I managed to find it the hard way and am still paying for that mistake. Learn from my suffering and keep an eye on where you're stepping, leaning, and reaching. Whether you're camping, hiking, biking, paddling, or just looking for a peaceful getaway, Myakka River State Park delivers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already "itching" to return. This time without the poison ivy. Pro Tip: Bring your camera, binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, and a healthy respect for Mother Nature. You'll be glad you did!

TROPIGAY Found! (in the middle of Florida!)…read more We discovered this charming remote gay campground 3+ years ago, when my husband, black lab and I rented one of the 3 yurts for a long weekend, over Thanksgiving, and have been coming down ever since. It was the community of existing "perms" (permanent) campers, weekenders, and eventually northern snowbirds -- who all contribute to the success of this evolving camp ground (and dare I say play-ground?) Orange groves, herds of cattle, and scrub palmetto's line the road to Venus Florida -- however when you drive through the central part of Camp Mars a canopy of live oak shade your site (and maybe just a few bare chests and the occasional bare ass (only at the pool, they insist!). It just doesn't get any closer to nature. There's few bugs, a friendly atmosphere, invitations to wine & cheese parties, or after-hours campfires. We were surprised that this campground (100 sites?) had so much to offer -- heated pool with pop music, large rec hall with a commercial grade kitchen open to all tenters, campers, alike, movies under the stars, sat eve themed dance parties, bingo on Friday, mexican train most nites, pot lucks on saturday for dinner, tent camping along the shared fenceline with cows, Pedro's trail for the nature lover/man lover and of course the newly expanded Gentleman's Club -- open all day, all nite, when you're a little restless. Let's be honest though...it's the friends you meet here, that make the difference. The ones who invite you to taste their homemade bbq rub, or the ones who help you "doll up" for your first drag attempt, or those who ask you to help out in fixing an adult mac 'n cheese for the pot-luck, that rub your shoulders as you sit poolside with a rum & coke. It's those connections, locating kindred spirits that make Camp Mars so alluring -- without all the drama. Only 2 hours from Tampa Bay (and similarly from Miami/Ft. La Di Da, it's an escape to Florida's mid-section -- there's a little bit here for everyone -- except if you're looking for a hilton -- in which case, this wouldn't be for your A&F lifestyle or boy toy. Here you'll find a place to unwind, a place to share your adventures, and maybe experience one or two more! Don, Roger & Rogue (the black lab)
