Sun N Fun did not live up to our expections. Crowded and very ugly surroundings. Think of a huge mobile home park with amenities. The "park home" 2 bedroom rental is a single-wide Chariot Eagle mobile home consisting of 399 square feet. If the unit had been clean, had comfortable beds, good Wifi, and a water heater suitable for 4 people staying in a rental unit, I'd be much happier. But, the unit failed on all these counts. The biggest issue was hot water. The unit only has a 20 gallon water heater. For 4 people (which is common if there's 2 bedrooms), that size water heater is way too small. We had to really plan out showers and dishwashing since the water heater takes around 1 hour to replenish itself. Other than hot water, the unit wasn't very clean. There were dead bugs around the windows and in multiple areas. I know it's Florida and there are bugs. But, these clearly had been around awhile. Also, under the bed wasn't clean and the sofa-bed had tons of nasty crumbs and debris all over it. In the bathroom, there was mold in the caulking. All of the cleanliness issues bothered my wife quite a bit. As other reviewers have said, the Wifi is pretty bad and nearly unusable. That's not a huge issue if you're on vacation. Still, it's annoying. Likewise, it was pretty annoying to have a large patio that did not have functional lighting. I tried EVERY switch in the house (and storage area) and could not turn them on. Same for the exterior lighting. The beds in the unit were a problem too. The master bedroom had a bed on a metal frame with wheels without stops. It moved every time I got into it. Also, the mattress sagged so bad that I felt like I was in a funnel. I envisioned a well-worn mattress salvaged from a dumpster outside of a Red Roof Inn remodel -- that's how bad it was. Listing is incorrect about the unit having a washer and dryer. The only laundry is in the coin operated facility near the pool. As far as the report itself: The large pool is nice and the waterslide is a decent amenity. But, it is quite crowded because of the size of the resort. So, you have to go early to enjoy it. The location is not bad for getting around Sarasota. You are about 30 minutes from most attractions and the UTC mall is close-by. But, to me, this is basically a big campground. How could they improve? I'd be upfront about it being like a camping experience with cabins. I've stayed at Florida State Park Cabins (which were better than this) and they made it clear what to expect. In this case, the units would benefit from better beds, functioning wifi, bigger hot water heater or tankless system, a vacuum cleaner or way to clean up, and functional lighting (label the light switches too?). Overall: I would not return. For the money, you're better off renting a condo that is nicer and has more space. read more

There are lots of pros and cons here. We have stayed in park models in this park on and off for 12 years. There are good, better and best park models. This year we stayed in the very best rated unit. Unfortunately my expectations were too high I have a few pictures of the problems. We did have the dishwasher break twice and an issue with the microwave . The repairs were address immediately. That was great! I am posting a few pictures of cosmetic issues that should have been addressed before we arrived. It is a safe place to stay, but very crowded. This was our Fisrt stay here. We stayed in a park model - platinum tier. The unit was quite large, well stocked and clean. We really enjoyed it. Only con is the bed is very squeaky. If your partner is a restless sleeper - could be an issue for you. Our unit was 376. This facility is very large with many amenities. We'd love to stay here again. read more

While it can be a really fun place, the management and infrastructure are woefully inadequate. Some of the managers, without naming, are terrible people with no moral compass, while others are awesome people. They need to get rid of the bad. And the infrastructure? Power outages, water outages, horrible cable and internet service. It's a shame, because the park has so much to offer and so many great people who live and work and visit here, but as a place to FT for long term, the headaches will wear you down. read more

Been coming here for 5 years, I used to think this place was the best for family fun but like all things usually do service and accommodations are getting worse and worse. To start with I reserved a premium pull through spot in February for this weekend (4th of July) I had to pay $50 just to assure I have the spot I reserved, what's the point of a reservation if you have to pay extra to reserve the spot you selected. Golf cart rentals are higher than average now and if you want to play mini golf you have to pay, it used to be free. The bar service use to be great, they had a bartender for years named Ned and another lady they were a pleasure to be around, It is a little disappointing now. The pool area had many different activities for kids all day now it's just a dj doing cheap backyard games. I could go on, and maybe if you haven't experienced other RV resorts this one will be a great time for you but others have a lot more to offer. read more

One of the best experiences of my life, my three months at sun outdoor Sarasota were the best three months of my life. I swear to God. I rented a wonderful place on Evelyn. It was great. Perfect size lanai was fantastic. The location was wonderful next to Woodland Hall. I love Sun outdoor Sarasota. I am going to move there one day. I am thinking about buying a couple units and figuring away to rent them out and make some cash during peak season. The amenities the grounds, the people, the vibe, Stottle Myers, across the street it's location. All of it was absolutely fantastic. Love the gym, love the pool, love the restaurant, love the entertainment, billiards room was great. Walking around the park was fantastic. Neighbors were wonderful. I want to live in sun outdoors, Sarasota, all the time for the rest of my life.God, I wish I would've set myself up prettier for retirement so I could do that right now. This park is great if you love dogs and are an insomniac. Dogs out number humans 2/1. The dog owners / neighbors have absolutely no regard for dog adequate. Barking all day into the night is allowed with no enforcement of the rules. If you address the issue to your neighbor be ready to be called every foul name in the book. I find the residents unfriendly unless you're an owner or in a long term renter. WiFi is spotty at best. Sitting by the pool is loud with the music they play and there is a strong odor from the water treatment plant. Area around the park is so busy. Folks drive at 70-90 miles per hour on the main roads and forget about law enforcement. The area around the park is so built up. A new shopping center is going in across the street to service the hundreds of new apartments. That should be a real Zoo when completed. I understand rent is going way up next year. Do your self a favor, look elsewhere especially at there prices. Won't be back. read more

Horrible experience. I called ahead of time, as I had never been before to inquire about the water park. (My daughter was invited to join a friend.) I was told it was $16.00 a person regardless if you swam or not. Fine. However, sun shining,I literally paid, parked my car, walked the 120 yards to the pool just as signs were being displayed that the pools were closed due to lightning. Huh? I immediately called to explain my confusion and request a refund (Voicemail). Two hours later pool still closed and no one was available to discuss a refund. Not okay. read more

I have visited Sun N Fun for over 10 years and the park is now at an all time low. If you like a "non-enforcement of rules" unsupervised kids, golf carts speeding down the wrong way one one way streets, trash piled up at the front entrance, an office that never answers the phone, volunteers who are unappreciated, sub leases with people coming and going at all hours, vandalism, poor cleaning of commons areas (I think you get the idea) you will love Sun N Fun - Shopping for another Florida resort and can't wait until our current rental expires. Needs new management with strong leadership skills (assuming management backs them) as they only seem interested in the bottom line at the expense of creating an enjoyable environment. read more

When my parents told me they were going to be living in an RV park in the winter, I was skeptical. HOWEVER, this place suprised me in all that it had to offer even people my age :) It is a large park, well lit and maintained, very clean, free wireless, big pool, multiple hot tubs and a restaruant and bar on-site. I have made several trips there to stay with my parents for holidays, and it's relaxing and fun. There are small workout centers with weights and equipment we can use for free, they have lawn bowling, tennis, bocci ball, sand volleyball, RC boat races, and shuffleboard among other things.... Their pool is very large, and their hot tubs are also fairly large too. Never overcrowded which is nice. Have not eaten at the bar or restaurant yet (my mom is an amazing cook, even in a tiny RV kitchen), but it always seems to have happy patrons there. A really nice feature is that the place is pet friendly. Not only are dogs allowed but they have several large dog parks, paved paths to walk on and they even have at least one pet prade for the holidays. For activities, there are always things going on. I know there is an active red hat club there that my mom enjoys participating in, but there are also classes, a craft room with inexpensive classes, regular potlucks and holiday parties. Plenty to keep anyone busy. For regulars, they also even have a full service post office, garbage dump, recycling, and water and electric hookup for the long haul. If you don't have an RV they apparently also rent RVs as well as permanent residences on-site. Best part of it all, you are only 10 minutes from beaches and 15 minutes from the Sarasota airport. If you want to head to Tampa, you can be there in 40 minutes or less. We were in St Pete in 25 minutes... If you want to stay close by, there are plenty of restaurants, grocery stores and lots of shopping nearby as well. Definitely worth checking out.... read more

We planned a quick trip to Sun Outdoors Sarasota. There is plenty for a family to do here. When we arrived, they escorted us to our reserved site (which we had to pay a fee to secure that site) only to find out that the photo on the booking page is a "stock photo" and not the actual site. The site was just a corner wedged between 2 mobile homes with no shade. I explained the misunderstanding between the description and photo of a "cozy" site. They quickly showed me other available "cozy" sites and allowed us to change with no problems or fees. We were only staying 2 nights so, there was a limited amount of time to do everything. My complaint is the limited hours of operation for everything. The pool slide was only open from 3-5pm, during Florida summers, 3-5 is when our chance of storms is very high. Luckily there wasn't one and the kids could use it. The General store was only open our second day there from 5-8pm. Luckily we didn't need anything during our stay. All in all it was a good stay just somewhat disappointed with the limited hours of everything. I feel we could have had a better stay with longer open hours. The mini golf course was very nice and the were many crafts/activities for the kids. read more

Kids LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Summer time rolls and this is the place they want to be in Sarasota when it's HOT. There's a giant snaking water slide with a height requirement (thank goodness), a baby pool, a regular pool, snack bar, alcoholic beverages and not. Plenty of seats, a great party place under tents, pretty much everything a Floridian or visitor can want in the summer. I have only been here for birthday parties, but I hear there's residences allowed up to only nine months out of the year, perfect for snow birds. read more

No WiFi and rude office personal! After a week without WiFi I inquired at the office. The lady told me to take it up with the manager. I asked if I could get a refund since I run my business out of my coach. She said no that the WiFi is just a courtesy not part of the lot rent? The attitude was what surprised me. This is for only a certain group of people. The rentals are disgusting and dirty. Ours had poop splattered on the bathroom wall. The walls were brown and needed a fresh coat of paint. Arcade machines weren't all working and took credit and the staff said it was a new building but the place was dirty and the air hockey table was missing the puck. Pool was cloudy looking and they don't allow outside food or drinks in the pool area so you have to either leave or order from their restaurant which was dirty look. Putt putt course was outdated and mostly flooded with puddles or water. The activities listed for things to do weren't even happening where it said they would be. Playground slide a huge crack on it so a child could get hurt. Do not vacation here. read more

While the water facilities and entertainment are very nice, if you need wifi, forget it. The wifi is virtually non-existent and when you can get on, it's slower than dial up. You would think that a facility like this would have the most robust service possible. read more

Great overall campground for rvs park models and rentals it has many amenities like a fitness center mini golf playground stained glass workshop meeting rooms and dog walk area but the rules are a little excessive like an indoor pool not allowed for children and a fitness center not allowed for children and avoid taking a trip here during winter/spring season because most of the amminitys are closed and a sewage ventilation system very near the pool but still an overall good Rv park! read more

The park is always clean and the staff is always friendly. The pool gets really busy on the weekends, but it's open till late at night and there's plenty other things to keep you occupied! We have been coming here for years, and never had the experience we did this last visit. The campground has we t downhill. Staff is no longer friendly and welcoming as they used to be, and this past visit we went with a large group and was harassed over and over again by security. This place was once a great relaxing place to vacation but that it no longer the case. We spoke with some folks at the pool that live there, and was told they are also having issues with new management and was sad to hear it was happening to visitors also. Needless to say that was my last trip there! There are too many better places that aren't as nasty and strict with every move you make! read more

This place is not very pleasant, hygiene is not a priority as the bathrooms are smelly and dirty, the pool area has molded grout... there's no life guard on site but tons of kids, even summer camp. Sunbrellas are only placed in the restaurant area or by sitting tables. If you're looking for a sun-chair it's placed away from pool so if you're trying to watch your kids... no chance. I actually tried to move that cheap plastic chair closer to the kids, asked for permission to do so and than got yelled at by another employee that works there. That's pretty embarrassing... it's a filthy trucker atmosphere.... dirty rude and unprofessional read more

I never write reviews EVER! But this time I feel I have to. I love coming to SUN N FUN. Is a place to relax is quiet and is an older crowd family oriented. Never had a problem I've been coming here for 3 years. Sometimes we drop in twice a year. Today, in the morning tried using public bathroom (BH). I am referring to the one located on Palm Circle across from Art Studio etc. My mother in law tried going earlier and said they were cleaning it. So we waited about an hour. My mother in law then left to try again. I left about 10 min after her. When I get to the bathroom the cleaning cart was outside. The door to the establishment was wide open. I walked up and noticed someone using the restroom. Someone was in one of the stalls. Seating in the toilet. I assumed it was my mother in law. As I walk in noticed door to shower room was wide open as well. In my head I am thinking maybe lady cleaning is done with the stall side and she's cleaning the shower side. I walk in and get in the first stall close to door. I hadn't closed door yet when I hear someone screaming saying this bathroom is closed! Very rude and with awful tone. I am here thinking who said that? Lady pooping? So I get out and start making my way to the rest of the room when I see the lady in the stall (who I thought was my mother in law) with door wide open doing her business!!!!!! I was in chock! She now is still yelling telling me to leave and go to bathroom across the street! What made me look for the person that was talking to me was the fact that she was 1. Yelling 2. Rude. I wanted to tell her there are better ways to talk to others. Plus what if it was an emergency? What if I needed to use it right there in that instance? Also, The fact she was using it with door open to me is unbelievable, stall door wide open and establishment door wide open! She's blonde I'd say she in her 40s. Over an hour waiting and bathroom not ready. That's ridiculous! Very rude staff member is a shame they have people like that working there. Other than this, I was happy with my stay. read more

If I could give this place a zero I would. The place does a terrible job of communicating events and get, high paying, short term visitors a chance to participate. It appears the management is trying to change the culture but the camp regulars don't appear to want to have anything to do with change (example: park is expanding children areas). Our experience also illustrated the regulars were not welcoming (our experience was with pickle ball). We had multiple times where my wife and I went to play pickle ball only to find out the courts were "controlled" and not available. They were taken up by the regulars. We never felt welcomed and on one occasion courts were not available for park guest whom were not participating in a tournament (we were not aware of the event - we just wanted to go and play). Please note they have at least 16 courts. Also, if you do choose to stay at this place make sure you DO NOT get a site near a main roadway through the park. Speed limits appear to be just a recommendation. Also, bring a large group, avoid the park regulars and make it fun on your own. However, your group may need to be prepared to battle the regulars if you want to use a court, lawn or something they think they own and control. Lastly, I was warned of this ahead of time about this camp site and did not listen. It was a mistake on our part. read more

A good place for rv stays. Close to downtown Sarasota, St Armonds circle, beaches , shopping, Ringling museum,etc. Sun n Fun is "pricey" and some policies are not "pocket friendly " ...for example, upon making reservations you must pay in full at that time. They had my $$ in full for a year before my arrival! At $2,000 ....there is much you could do with it over a year. If you need to depart early? Don't expect a refund! There are lots of rules but worth 1500 rv/park models there is a high population. So I guess lots of rules are nessecary. I don't like that it's quickly turning into a park model trailer park. Not the same atmosphere as rv'g neighbors would be. They don't have a store for last minute buys like bread , milk, condiments,etc. The pool , while extremely crowded, is very nice with a bar and grill. The wellness ctr is very nice for those that use it. It is a very active community for older residents as far as pickle ball, tennis, volley ball,etc. I've come here in a motorhome for 8 yrs for quick stays mostly (1 to 2 weeks) and a few month to 6 week stays. I've always liked it but am ready to leave each time. I typically move on to less busy parks from here. Yes, I recommend it but not for a permanent place to live the 9 months only allowed. read more

The resort itself is a wonderful place. Great for families, wonderful amenities. Everyone is friendly and pleasant you can be busy the whole time or do nothing it is wonderful. The units have the bare minimum for cooking and the WiFi stinks. But that would not stop me from coming again. My only negative is the Life style Day spa located in the park. I was so excited and wanted to get a bunch of treatments. I booked a massage, got there 10 minutes early, before my therapist, who showed up at the time of my apparent massage. Then proceeded to take a phone call. After a very average massage with no real pressure more like rubbing in lotion, and he used a hand massage machine for my lower back. Ewww. I get many massages often and all over the world, no one has ever used a machine, I could do that myself. Then after starting late, finished early, my 60 minutes was maybe 50 minutes, it was very disappointing. A total waste of $65. I am in customer service and this was not up to par. No water at the end, I really would not recommend. read more

This place has great amenities but it is SO crowded! People flying by on golf carts non stop, not going to 10 mph speed limit. Lots of dogs, which is fine because we have 2 as well, but the places for the pets to relieve themselves is mostly gravel and dirt. The whole place is gravel and dirt with the exception of a small concrete patio. We spent every day cleaning the RV from the dust/dirt and gravel that you can't get away from even by taking off our shoes off before going inside. The pool is extremely busy with lots of kids, and the bathrooms are not very close. A few were locked and/or out of order. We basically used this resort for a place to sleep because we dreaded going outside and dragging dirt and gravel in. There is also hardly any space on either side to drive a 39 foot RV and car trailer in the pull through spot. The spots have little to no room between, so if you are looking for any privacy, or to have a conversation outside w/out your neighbor hearing every word this would not be it. For the price we paid there are other places with nicer/cleaner, concrete and/or paved grounds with more space in between sites. read more

They're website doesn't do them justice, I love Sun n Fun. I heard about through an RVing podcast and booked in the middle of summer for a January stay. We stayed in the Queens loop a all pull-through RV area that is right in the hart of all the action in the park. We'd discovered pickle ball and archery an am now hooked on both. There is so much to do and the staff was awesome. I loved playing ping pong on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a great bunch of guys. I miss some really great people we were neighbors with too. Beware - we have stayed at Sun N Fun twice and both time we have had things stolen from our site. Perhaps we didn't get to the right person but the staff seemed very unconcerned and in fact we were told this happens alot. Well that comment is very concerning. We were there for the 4th of July weekend. Had a great time, lots of activities. Unfortunately, our specific site's septic connection was 26 feet away and we had to purchase another sewer hose as we only had 20 feet. Went to Campbell's RV nearby and they knew we were staying at Sun N Fun and said several of their sites are like that. Also, while the website says campsite campfires are permitted, it doesn't state that you need to bring your own fire pit. They could also have more trash receptacles - you have to take your trash to the front entrance. Camp store is not really a 'store' has souvenir items and a few RV items. Overall, we had a great time and would go back. read more

We stayed here with our 26' RV and 4 kids in the off-season in mid-May. The spot we booked turned out to be laughable it was so small. It basically was the triangular corner beside a mobile home and another RV. Thankfully they moved us to a much better spot at our request for only $6 more total for the week. I honestly can't believe the first spot is something people pay for. I can see that during peak season this resort would not be very much fun. Since we practically had the place to ourselves it was enjoyable. The kids LOVED the huge pool and slide. Weekends are pretty much out of the question. They let so many people from the outside pay to get in that you can't even see the water in the pool because there are so many bodies in it. It's also not a very high-class crowd of people who come use it on weekends. We used the laundromat twice and it was relatively clean, but half the machines were out of order. I went into the bathhouse once with my girls. The ceiling was peeling off and it was old but seemed clean. There aren't many trees or shade to speak of, so prepare to roast and have your RV AC on the entire time if you stay during warmer months. The food we tried at the pool grill was good and nice to have while watching the kids swim. We would stay here again, but only in the off-season. read more

It's a great place except for a few speeders and golf carts. My grandson and I had to get out of the way of a Sun n Fun employee in a Sun n Fun golf cart when we were walking across a walking bridge. He turned into the bridge opening and headed for us. It had the barrier block cut down that prevents golf carts from using the bridge. And there is barely enough room for a golf cart. Then another golf cart followed his example and cut us off. Golf carts must be allowed for anyone to drive. I guess you don't need a Florida's learners permit here. Otherwise Sun n Fun has a lot to offer a family. read more

This is a really nice place with lots to do. I love it here - HOWEVER - WiFi is not good. It's so weak in our part of the park that we can't get on. It's considered an amenity but in order to have dependable WiFi we have to purchase it from Comcast. Whomever it is that believes WiFi is not a necessity these days is thinking with the dinosaurs. WiFi has seemingly been an afterthought for years. Please, Sun Communities, fix this flaw. read more

Nice facility although it is very busy in regards to traffic, cars and golf carts everywhere. Great location to all of the wonderful beaches, state parks and restaurants. The recreation facilities are excellent!! Great heated indoor and outdoor pools. Sauna, hot tubs, steam room, great weight rooms and machines. Nice restaurant on site. Great bicycling from park. Sarasota is really bike friendly, great bike trails. The staff is good other than the office staff. They act like they could really care less. Grouches. read more
