I dont think my mind would have changed its opinion if i ate it there or at home. It was good, however, i found the chicken to be really oily. The sauces didnt add to it, it would have been fine without it. The honey butter biscuits were just ok for me as well. It's decent, however, i doubt i will be craving this particular chicken spot. I pre-ordered the food from Hungry Panda because they have some promotion there, the price is better than order directly on the counter. I had some fried chicken, some buffalo chicken plus biscuits. They made all of these things from scratch so they were so fresh and warm when I got them. Although it takes 20 minutes took the takeout back home, they were still very fresh, the fried chicken was still crispy outside. Inside parts were juicy and tender. This place is located inside of 99Ranch on Balboa. My little sister and I assumed that they would be serving Korean style wings, but we were still satisfied with our meal! The food is displayed in a heat lamp thing, but other fast food chicken spots do the same. The wings and potato wedges were still perfectly crunchy. They also had a pretty extensive sauce menu which is limited to 1 sauce per 3 pieces of chicken or an additional charge. What we got: - Buffalo wings: crunchy, vinegar-y, and juicy - Crunchy wings: crunchy, these were good with the sauces that they offered - Potato wedges: perfectly seasoned and crispy! - Mac and cheese: this one reminded us of the Mac and cheese that gets served at school, only a little better. I should have probably ordered the hot Mac and cheese -- maybe it would have been slightly more seasoned. I want to say that it was a family that was running the business together, and they were great! Krispy Krunchy Chicken is located inside the food court of 99 Ranch along with a few other restaurants. There is a large dining area to have your food as well if you want to eat there. Ambiance is very casual and when I went, there were not that many people in the eating area. There was no line when I ordered, and the two workers who took and prepared my order were very kind to give me a cup of water and extra sauce even though they are charging for more sauce (free sauce for every 3 pieces of chicken). All the chicken here is pre-made and sit under heating lamps, which I why I docked off a few points in this rating since the chicken is not completely fresh and made to order. That being said, the chicken pieces are actually quite crunchy and moist for sitting out. 1) Cajun Tender Combo: 7/10. This combo is $8.99 (at the time of the writing this review) and comes with 4 large Cajun tenders, one honey biscuit, and sauce. The Cajun tenders were actually much bigger than I thought and very crispy. The meat wasn't overly dry but not overly juicy as well. It also did not taste like Cajun seasoning to me, but it had a very standard fried chicken taste. The biscuit was dry and flaky, but it contrasted well with the salty and crunchy chicken. I got BBQ sauce but they have an extensive list of sauces to choose from as well. I should have taken that as a bad sign. I ordered a two piece mixed meat combination for my meal which came with a biscuit and mashed potatoes as sides. The chicken pieces I received were warm from the lamp and not piping hot from the fryer. The crust was okay for crispiness, but I had expected better. The biscuit and mashed potatoes were also average as they did not stand out in quality. I have been here about 3 times already within the last 2-3 months or so. I always come to this 99 Ranch to buy my groceries, but I never really went over to the food court area. When I actually came to this place, it was because one of my coworkers mentioned this place, so I thought, why not? Like, maybe 5 minutes or so max. Food was crispy, juicy, and absolutely DELICIOUS! They also have tons of seating in front of it, so you can eat there if you wanted to, but I personally enjoy eating my food at home, so I never really got to experience eating there. And besides, I brought home the food to my family at home and they also enjoyed it too--even went back again (but of course another day cause it was a lot of food). I have seen this franchise all over the South, including MS and TX, mainly in gas stations serving fried chicken. I came through on a weekday right after 10 AM and noticed they didn't open until 1030, so I walked around 99 Ranch for 30 minutes just browsing at all the items they have. At 1030, I came back and placed my order of the 4 piece dark chicken. There's an option of mixed dark or light, but who likes chicken breast? They have plenty of sides to choose from, such as jambalaya, red beans and rice, mac and cheese, fries, mashed potatoes, and gravy, and they also have tenders and wings. I was told the chicken would be ready in about 10 minutes, and I didn't complain once since I knew I would be getting the most freshest fried chicken straight from the fryer since they just opened. There are plenty of booths to sit at and restrooms on station for you to enjoy your meal. Shortly later, my food was ready to go, and I picked up my food from the staff. I was offered sauces, and wow, they have a lot to choose from, but I went ahead with the basics of Louisiana hot sauce and ketchup. After I snapped my pics, I quickly dove in and burned my mouth since the chicken was so fresh and fried golden brown to perfection. I was given 2 thighs and 2 legs, and they crispness was out of this world! The breading was a thin breading, and that chicken skin was seasoned appropriately as to where steam profusely comes out when you dive into it. I found myself dipping the chicken in the hot sauce and ketchup and even sucking the bones to get every last drop of meat from it. The biscuit was hot, fresh, and delightfully moist. It was a great addition to the meal, and I was one happy customer! Overall outstanding place for Cajun fried chicken in the Kearny Mesa area. Criminally underrated, they have the best fried chicken in San Diego and are cheaper than most other places; it's 6 dollars for a sandwich which is a meal on its own. They're even open on Sundays while the chick fil a across the street is closed. They're cheaper and taste better - never going back to chick fil an again. They have multiple sauces that you can get to dip the chicken in. I have also got the jumbalaya as a side. To me the jumbalaya was just OK. My friend gets the mashed potatoes and gravy and she loves it. You also get a honey biscuit with the purchase of the tender's. I am not a biscuit person but my friend is and said it was absolutely delicious. The prices are very good. I always get a 4 piece meal and they usually give me 5 tenders. Don't be upset if they only give you 4 though. And I'm full after 2 and my jambalaya. I love that I have leftovers. Parking is super easy since it's in a shopping center with a lot of big Box stores like home depot target and the ranch 99 market. So you'll never have an issue with parking here. It's physical location is in a small Asian food court off to the side of the grocery. I wish I would've chosen one of the other restaurants there instead. I found the chicken just okay. I had one breast, fries and a biscuit. The chicken didn't have that krispy and crunchy bite I expected. Even the somewhat moist interior couldn't rescue the breast. The breading was a little soft, actually, probably from sitting under warming lights. The taste was nothing special; I hardly detected any sort of seasoning on it. It could have benefited from some simple sea salt and pepper. There were no spices on the tables. The French fries were of the steak fry cut variety, which I usually love. Unfortunately, I did not care for whatever spice was sprinkled over them, as it didn't bring anything discernible to the fry other than an off-taste.
